| 1 | And the word of Jehovah of hosts came [to me], saying, | La parola dell'Eterno degli eserciti mi fu nuovamente rivolta, dicendo: |
| 2 | Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath. | Così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: Io sono grandemente geloso di Sion, sì, io ardo di gelosia per lei. |
| 3 | Thus saith Jehovah: I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called The city of truth; and the mountain of Jehovah of hosts, The holy mountain. | Così dice l'Eterno: Io ritornerò a Sion e dimorerò in mezzo a Gerusalemme. Gerusalemme sarà chiamata la Città della fedeltà e il monte dell'Eterno degli eserciti, il monte della SANTITA'. |
| 4 | Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, every man with his staff in his hand for very age. | Così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: Nelle piazze di Gerusalemme siederanno ancora vecchi e vecchie, ognuno con il suo bastone in mano per la sua età avanzata. |
| 5 | And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof. | Le piazze della città saranno affollate di ragazzi e ragazze che giocheranno nelle sue piazze. |
| 6 | Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: If it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith Jehovah of hosts. | Così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: Se questo sembra troppo difficile agli occhi del resto di questo popolo in questi giorni, sarà pure troppo difficile ai miei occhi?, dice l'Eterno degli eserciti. |
| 7 | Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country; | Così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: Ecco, io salverò il mio popolo dal paese dell'est e dal paese dell'ovest. |
| 8 | and I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness. | Io li farò venire ed essi abiteranno in Gerusalemme; essi saranno il mio popolo e io sarò il loro DIO a con fedeltà e giustizia. |
| 9 | Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets that were in the day that the foundation of the house of Jehovah of hosts was laid, even the temple, that it might be built. | Così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: Le vostre mani siano forti, voi che udite in questi giorni queste parole dalla bocca dei profeti che c'erano al tempo in cui si gettavano le fondamenta della casa dell'Eterno, affinché si possa ricostruire il tempio. |
| 10 | For before those days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in, because of the adversary: for I set all men every one against his neighbor. | Prima di quel tempo non c'era salario per uomo né salario per le bestie; non c'era alcuna sicurezza per chi andava e veniva a motivo del nemico, io stesso infatti mettevo tutti gli uomini gli uni contro gli altri. |
| 11 | But now I will not be unto the remnant of this people as in the former days, saith Jehovah of hosts. | Ma ora non sarò più con il residuo di questo popolo come sono stato nei tempi passati, dice l'Eterno degli eserciti. |
| 12 | For [there shall be] the seed of peace; the vine shall give its fruit, and the ground shall give its increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things. | Poiché vi sarà un seme di pace; la vite darà il suo frutto, il suolo darà i suoi prodotti e i cieli daranno la loro rugiada. Farò entrare il residuo di questo popolo in possesso di tutte queste cose. |
| 13 | And it shall come to pass that, as ye were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing. Fear not, [but] let your hands be strong. | E avverrà che, come foste una maledizione fra le nazioni, o casa di Giuda e casa d'Israele, così quando vi salverò sarete una benedizione. Non temete, le vostre mani siano forti!. |
| 14 | For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: As I thought to do evil unto you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I repented not; | Poiché così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: Come decisi di farvi del male quando i vostri padri mi provocarono ad ira, dice l'Eterno degli eserciti, e non mi pentii, |
| 15 | so again have I thought in these days to do good unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not. | così in questi giorni ho nuovamente deciso di fare del bene a Gerusalemme e alla casa di Giuda. Non temete! |
| 16 | These are the things that ye shall do: speak ye every man the truth with his neighbor; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates; | Queste sono le cose che dovete fare: parlate in verità ciascuno al suo prossimo. Alle vostre porte date giudizi secondo verità, giustizia e pace. |
| 17 | and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith Jehovah. | Nessuno macchini alcun male in cuor suo contro il suo prossimo e non amate il giuramento falso, perché tutte queste cose io le odio, dice l'Eterno. |
| 18 | And the word of Jehovah of hosts came unto me, saying, | La parola dell'Eterno degli eserciti mi fu ancora rivolta, dicendo: |
| 19 | Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: The fast of the fourth [month], and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love truth and peace. | Così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: Il digiuno del quarto mese, il digiuno del quinto, il digiuno del settimo e il digiuno del decimo diventeranno per la casa di Giuda un tempo di gioia, di allegrezza e di feste liete; perciò amate la verità e la pace. |
| 20 | Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: [It shall] yet [come to pass], that there shall come peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities; | Così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: Verranno ancora popoli e abitanti di molte città; |
| 21 | and the inhabitants of one [city] shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to entreat the favor of Jehovah, and to seek Jehovah of hosts: I will go also. | gli abitanti di una città andranno da quelli dell'altra, dicendo: "Andiamo subito a supplicare la faccia dell'Eterno e a cercare l'Eterno degli eserciti. Ci andrò anch'io |
| 22 | Yea, many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek Jehovah of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favor of Jehovah. | Sì, molti popoli e nazioni potenti verranno a cercare l'Eterno degli eserciti a Gerusalemme e a supplicare la faccia dell'Eterno. |
| 23 | Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: In those days [it shall come to pass], that ten men shall take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, they shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you. | Così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: In quei giorni dieci uomini di tutte le lingue delle nazioni afferreranno un Giudeo per il lembo della veste e diranno: "Noi vogliamo venire con voi perché abbiamo udito che DIO è con voi". |
