I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing witness with me in the Holy Spirit,Io dico la verità in Cristo, non mento, perché me lo attesta la mia coscienza nello Spirito Santo;
That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.ho grande tristezza e continuo dolore nel mio cuore.
For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:For I could wish that I myself were anathema from Christ for my brethren`s sake, my kinsmen according to the flesh:Infatti desidererei essere io stesso anatema e separato da Cristo per i miei fratelli, miei parenti secondo la carne,
Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service [of God], and the promises;che sono Israeliti, dei quali sono l'adozione, la gloria, i patti, la promulgazione della legge, il servizio divino e le promesse;
Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.whose are the fathers, and of whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:But [it is] not as though the word of God hath come to nought. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel:Tuttavia non è che la parola di Dio sia caduta a terra, poiché non tutti quelli che sono d'Israele sono Israele.
Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.neither, because they are Abraham`s seed, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.E neppure perché sono progenie di Abrahamo sono tutti figli; ma: In Isacco ti sarà nominata una progenie.
That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.That is, it is not the children of the flesh that are children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned for a seed.
For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.For this is a word of promise, According to this season will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;And not only so; but Rebecca also having conceived by one, [even] by our father Isaac--E non solo questo, ma anche Rebecca concepì da un solo uomo, Isacco nostro padre.
(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)for [the children] being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth,(infatti, quando non erano ancora nati i figli e non avevano fatto bene o male alcuno, affinché rimanesse fermo il proponimento di Dio secondo l'elezione e non a motivo delle opere, ma per colui che chiama),
It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.it was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.le fu detto: Il maggiore servirà al minore,
As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.Even as it is written, Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.come sta scritto: Io ho amato Giacobbe e ho odiato Esaù.
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.Che diremo dunque? C'è ingiustizia presso Dio? Così non sia.
For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.Egli dice infatti a Mosè: Io avrò misericordia di chi avrò misericordia, e avrò compassione di chi avrò compassione.
So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that hath mercy.
For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, For this very purpose did I raise thee up, that I might show in thee my power, and that my name might be published abroad in all the earth.
Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.So then he hath mercy on whom he will, and whom he will be hardeneth.Così egli fa misericordia a chi vuole e indurisce chi vuole.
Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he still find fault? For who withstandeth his will?
Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why didst thou make me thus?
Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?Or hath not the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?
What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering vessels of wrath fitted unto destruction:E che dire se Dio, volendo mostrare la sua ira e far conoscere la sua potenza, ha sopportato con molta pazienza i vasi d'ira preparati per la perdizione?
And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,and that he might make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy, which he afore prepared unto glory,E questo per far conoscere le ricchezze della sua gloria verso dei vasi di misericordia, che lui ha già preparato per la gloria,
Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?[even] us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the Gentiles?cioè noi che egli ha chiamato, non solo fra i Giudei ma anche fra i gentili?
As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.As he saith also in Hosea, I will call that my people, which was not my people; And her beloved, that was not beloved.
And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.And it shall be, [that] in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, There shall they be called sons of the living God.E avverrà che là dove fu loro detto "Voi non siete mio popolo", saranno chiamati figli del Dio vivente.
Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:And Isaiah crieth concerning Israel, If the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, it is the remnant that shall be saved:Ma Isaia esclama riguardo a Israele: Anche se il numero dei figli d'Israele fosse come la sabbia del mare, solo il residuo sarà salvato.
For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.for the Lord will execute [his] word upon the earth, finishing it and cutting it short.
And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.And, as Isaiah hath said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, We had become as Sodom, and had been made like unto Gomorrah.E come Isaia aveva predetto: Se il Signore degli eserciti non ci avesse lasciato un seme, saremmo diventati come Sodoma e saremmo stati simili a Gomorra.
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who followed not after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith:Che diremo dunque?
But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at [that] law.mentre Israele, che cercava la legge della giustizia, non è arrivato alla legge della giustizia.
Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;Wherefore? Because [they sought it] not by faith, but as it were by works. They stumbled at the stone of stumbling;Perché?
As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.even as it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence: And he that believeth on him shall not be put to shame.come sta scritto Ecco, io pongo in Sion una pietra d'inciampo e una roccia di scandalo, ma chiunque crede in lui non sarà svergognato.
