| 11 | Car le péché saisissant l'occasion, me séduisit par le commandement, et par lui me fit mourir. | for sin, finding occasion, through the commandment beguiled me, and through it slew me. | Infatti il peccato, colta l'occasione per mezzo del comandamento, mi ingannò e mediante quello mi uccise. |
| 12 | La loi donc est sainte, et le commandement est saint, juste et bon. | So that the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and righteous, and good. | Così, la legge è certamente santa, e il comandamento santo, giusto e buono. |
| 13 | Ce qui est bon a-t-il donc été pour moi une cause de mort ? Loin de là ! Mais c'est le péché, afin qu'il se manifestât comme péché en me donnant la mort par ce qui est bon, et que, par le commandement, il devînt condamnable au plus haut point. | Did then that which is good become death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might be shown to be sin, by working death to me through that which is good; --that through the commandment sin might become exceeding sinful. | Ciò che è buono è dunque diventato morte per me? | 17 | Et maintenant ce n'est plus moi qui le fais, mais c'est le péché qui habite en moi. | So now it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwelleth in me. | Quindi non sono più io ad agire, ma è il peccato che abita in me. |
| 18 | Ce qui est bon, je le sais, n'habite pas en moi, c'est-à-dire dans ma chair : j'ai la volonté, mais non le pouvoir de faire le bien. | For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me, but to do that which is good [is] not. | Infatti io so che in me, cioè nella mia carne, non abita alcun bene, poiché ben si trova in me la volontà di fare il bene, ma io non trovo il modo di compierlo. |
| 19 | Car je ne fais pas le bien que je veux, et je fais le mal que je ne veux pas. | For the good which I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I practise. | Infatti il bene che io voglio, non lo faccio; ma il male che non voglio, quello faccio. |
| 20 | Et si je fais ce que je ne veux pas, ce n'est plus moi qui le fais, c'est le péché qui habite en moi. | But if what I would not, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwelleth in me. | Ora, se faccio ciò che non voglio, non sono più io che lo faccio, ma è il peccato che abita in me. |
| 21 | Je trouve donc en moi cette loi : quand je veux faire le bien, le mal est attaché à moi. | I find then the law, that, to me who would do good, evil is present. | Io scopro dunque questa legge: che volendo fare il bene, in me è presente il male. |

Ainsi donc, moi-même, je suis par l'entendement esclave de la loi de Dieu, et je suis par la chair esclave de la loi du péché. | I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then I of myself with the mind, indeed, serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. | Io rendo grazie a Dio per mezzo di Gesù Cristo, nostro Signore.
