| 3 | En vertu de la grâce qui m'a été donnée, je dis à chacun de vous de ne pas s'estimer plus qu'il ne faut; mais d'avoir des sentiments modestes, chacun selon la mesure de la foi que Dieu lui a départie. | For I say, through the grace that was given me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think as to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to each man a measure of faith. |
| 4 | Car, de même que nous avons plusieurs membres dans un seul corps, et que tous les membres n'ont pas la même fonction, | For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members have not the same office: |
| 5 | ainsi nous qui sommes plusieurs, nous ne faisons qu'un seul corps dans le Christ, et chacun en particulier nous sommes membres les uns des autres; | so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and severally members one of another. |
| 6 | et nous avons des dons différents selon la grâce qui nous a été donnée : soit de prophétie, selon la mesure de notre foi, | And having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, whether prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of our faith; |
| 7 | soit de ministère, pour nous contenir dans le ministère; celui-ci a reçu le don d'enseigner : qu'il enseigne; | or ministry, [let us give ourselves] to our ministry; or he that teacheth, to his teaching; |
| 8 | celui-là, le don d'exhorter : qu'il exhorte; un autre distribue : qu'il s'en acquitte avec simplicité; un autre préside : qu'il le fasse avec zèle; un autre exerce les oeuvres de miséricorde : qu'il s'y livre avec joie. | or he that exhorteth, to his exhorting: he that giveth, [let him do it] with liberality; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness. |
| 9 | Que votre charité soit sans hypocrisie. Ayez le mal en horreur; attachez-vous fortement au bien. | Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. |

| 11 | pour ce qui est du zèle, ne soyez pas nonchalants. Soyez fervents d'esprit; c'est le Seigneur que vous servez. | in diligence not slothful; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; |
| 12 | Soyez pleins de la joie que donne l'espérance, patients dans l'affliction, assidus à la prière, | rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing stedfastly in prayer; |
| 13 | prêts à subvenir aux nécessités des saints, empressés à donner l'hospitalité. | communicating to the necessities of the saints; given to hospitality. |
| 14 | Bénissez ceux qui vous persécutent : bénissez et ne maudissez pas. | Bless them that persecute you; bless, and curse not. |
| 15 | Réjouissez-vous avec ceux qui sont dans la joie; pleurez avec ceux qui pleurent. | Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep. |
| 16 | Ayez les mêmes sentiments entre vous; n'aspirez pas à ce qui est élevé, mais laissez-vous attirer par ce qui est humble. Ne soyez point sages à vos propres yeux; | Be of the same mind one toward another. Set not your mind on high things, but condescend to things that are lowly. Be not wise in your own conceits. |

| 19 | Ne vous vengez point vous-mêmes, bien-aimés; mais laissez agir la colère de Dieu; car il est écrit : "A moi la vengeance; c'est moi qui rétribuerai, dit le Seigneur." | Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto the wrath [of God]: for it is written, Vengeance belongeth unto me; I will recompense, saith the Lord. |
| 20 | Si ton ennemi a faim, donne-lui à manger; s'il a soif, donne-lui à boire; car en agissant ainsi, tu amasseras des charbons de feu sur sa tête. | But if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head. |
