| 3 | Or par la grâce qui m'est donnée je dis à chacun d'entre vous, que nul ne présume d'être plus sage qu'il ne faut; mais que chacun pense modestement de soi-même, selon que Dieu a départi à chacun la mesure de la foi. | For I say, through the grace that was given me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think as to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to each man a measure of faith. |
| 4 | Car comme nous avons plusieurs membres en un seul corps, et que tous les membres n'ont pas une même fonction; | For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members have not the same office: |
| 5 | Ainsi nous qui sommes plusieurs, sommes un seul corps en Christ; et chacun réciproquement les membres l'un de l'autre. | so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and severally members one of another. |
| 6 | Or ayant des dons différents, selon la grâce qui nous est donnée: soit de prophétie, prophétisons selon l'analogie de la foi; | And having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, whether prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of our faith; |
| 7 | Soit de ministère, appliquons-nous au ministère; soit que quelqu'un soit appelé à enseigner, qu'il enseigne. | or ministry, [let us give ourselves] to our ministry; or he that teacheth, to his teaching; |
| 8 | Soit que quelqu'un se trouve appelé à exhorter, qu'il exhorte; soit que quelqu'un distribue, qu'il le fasse en simplicité; soit que quelqu'un préside, qu'il le fasse soigneusement; soit que quelqu'un exerce la miséricorde, qu'il le fasse joyeusement. | or he that exhorteth, to his exhorting: he that giveth, [let him do it] with liberality; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness. |
| 9 | Que la charité soit sincère. Ayez en horreur le mal, vous tenant collés au bien. | Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. |
| 10 | Etant portés par la charité fraternelle à vous aimer mutuellement; vous prévenant l'un l'autre par honneur. | In love of the brethren be tenderly affectioned one to another; in honor preferring one another; |
| 11 | N'étant point paresseux à vous employer pour autrui; étant fervents d'esprit; servant le Seigneur. | in diligence not slothful; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; |
| 12 | Soyez joyeux dans l'espérance; patients dans la tribulation; persévérants dans l'oraison. | rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing stedfastly in prayer; |
| 13 | Communiquant aux nécessités des Saints; exerçant l'hospitalité. | communicating to the necessities of the saints; given to hospitality. |
| 14 | Bénissez ceux qui vous persécutent; bénissez-les, et ne les maudissez point. | Bless them that persecute you; bless, and curse not. |
| 15 | Soyez en joie avec ceux qui sont en joie; et pleurez avec ceux qui pleurent. | Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep. |
| 16 | Ayant un même sentiment les uns envers les autres, n'affectant point des choses hautes, mais vous accommodant aux choses basses. Ne soyez point sages à votre propre jugement. | Be of the same mind one toward another. Set not your mind on high things, but condescend to things that are lowly. Be not wise in your own conceits. |
| 17 | Ne rendez à personne mal pour mal. Recherchez les choses honnêtes devant tous les hommes. | Render to no man evil for evil. Take thought for things honorable in the sight of all men. |
| 18 | S'il se peut faire, et autant que cela dépend de vous, ayez la paix avec tous les hommes. | If it be possible, as much as in you lieth, be at peace with all men. |
| 19 | Ne vous vengez point vous-mêmes, mes bien-aimés, mais laissez agir la colère de Dieu, car il est écrit: à moi appartient la vengeance; je le rendrai, dit le Seigneur. | Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto the wrath [of God]: for it is written, Vengeance belongeth unto me; I will recompense, saith the Lord. |
| 20 | Si donc ton ennemi a faim, donne-lui à manger; s'il a soif, donne-lui à boire: car en faisant cela tu retireras des charbons de feu qui sont sur sa tête. | But if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head. |
| 21 | Ne sois point surmonté par le mal, mais surmonte le mal par le bien. | Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. |
