| 1 | Je vous exhorte donc, frères, par les compassions de Dieu, à offrir vos corps en sacrifice vivant, saint, agréable à Dieu, c'est votre culte raisonnable. | I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, [which is] your spiritual service. |
| 2 | Et ne vous conformez point au présent siècle, mais soyez transformés par le changement de votre raisonnement, afin que vous éprouviez que la volonté de Dieu est bonne, agréable et parfaite. | And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, and ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. |
| 3 | Or, par la grâce qui m'a été donnée, je dis à chacun d'entre vous, de n'avoir pas de lui-même une plus haute opinion qu'il ne doit, mais d'avoir des sentiments modestes, selon la mesure de la foi que Dieu a départie à chacun. | For I say, through the grace that was given me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think as to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to each man a measure of faith. |
| 4 | Car, comme nous avons plusieurs membres dans un seul corps, et que tous les membres n'ont pas une même fonction; | For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members have not the same office: |
| 5 | Ainsi nous, qui sommes plusieurs, nous sommes un seul corps en Christ; et nous sommes chacun en particulier les membres les uns des autres, | so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and severally members one of another. |
| 6 | Ayant toutefois des dons différents, selon la grâce qui nous a été donnée; soit la prophétie, pour l'exercer selon la mesure de la foi; | And having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, whether prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of our faith; |
| 7 | Soit le ministère, pour s'attacher au ministère; soit l'enseignement, pour s'appliquer à l'enseignement; soit l'exhortation, pour exhorter. | or ministry, [let us give ourselves] to our ministry; or he that teacheth, to his teaching; |
| 8 | Celui qui distribue les aumônes, qu'il le fasse avec libéralité; celui qui préside, qu'il préside avec soin; celui qui exerce les oeuvres de miséricorde, qu'il le fasse avec joie. | or he that exhorteth, to his exhorting: he that giveth, [let him do it] with liberality; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness. |
| 9 | Que la charité soit sans hypocrisie. Ayez le mal en horreur, attachez-vous fortement au bien. | Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. |
| 10 | Quant à l'amour fraternel, soyez pleins de tendresse les uns pour les autres; vous estimant l’un l’autre par honneur. | In love of the brethren be tenderly affectioned one to another; in honor preferring one another; |
| 11 | Quant au zèle, ne soyez point paresseux. Soyez fervents d'esprit; servez le Seigneur. | in diligence not slothful; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; |
| 12 | Soyez joyeux dans l'espérance, patients dans l'affliction, persévérants dans la prière. | rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing stedfastly in prayer; |
| 13 | Prenez part aux nécessités des saints; empressez-vous à exercer l'hospitalité. | communicating to the necessities of the saints; given to hospitality. |
| 14 | Bénissez ceux qui vous persécutent; bénissez, et ne maudissez point. | Bless them that persecute you; bless, and curse not. |
| 15 | Réjouissez-vous avec ceux qui se réjouissent, et pleurez avec ceux qui pleurent. | Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep. |
| 16 | Ayez les mêmes sentiments entre vous; ne considérez point les positions d'éminences, mais accommodez les hommes humbles; ne soyez pas sages à vos propres yeux. | Be of the same mind one toward another. Set not your mind on high things, but condescend to things that are lowly. Be not wise in your own conceits. |
| 17 | Ne rendez à personne le mal pour le mal; attachez-vous à ce qui est bien devant tous les hommes. | Render to no man evil for evil. Take thought for things honorable in the sight of all men. |
| 18 | S'il se peut faire, et autant qu'il dépend de vous, soyez en paix avec tous les hommes. | If it be possible, as much as in you lieth, be at peace with all men. |
| 19 | Ne vous vengez point vous-mêmes, bien-aimés, mais laissez agir la colère de Dieu; car il est écrit: A moi la vengeance; c'est moi qui rétribuerai, dit le Seigneur. | Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto the wrath [of God]: for it is written, Vengeance belongeth unto me; I will recompense, saith the Lord. |
| 20 | Si donc ton ennemi a faim, donne-lui à manger; s'il a soif, donne-lui à boire; car en faisant cela, tu lui amasseras des charbons de feu sur la tête. | But if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head. |
| 21 | Ne te laisse point surmonter par le mal; mais surmonte le mal par le bien. | Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. |
