| 5 | Tu les as nourris de pain de larmes, et tu les as abreuvés de pleurs à grande mesure. | Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in large measure. |
| 6 | Tu nous as mis pour un sujet de dispute entre nos voisins, et nos ennemis se moquent de nous entre eux. | Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbors; And our enemies laugh among themselves. |
| 7 | Ô Dieu des armées ramène-nous, et fais reluire ta face; et nous serons délivrés. | Turn us again, O God of hosts; And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved. |
| 8 | Tu avais transporté une vigne hors d'Egypte; tu avais chassé les nations, et tu l'avais plantée. | Thou broughtest a vine out of Egypt: Thou didst drive out the nations, and plantedst it. |
| 9 | Tu avais préparé une place devant elle, tu lui avais fait prendre racine, et elle avait rempli la terre. | Thou preparedst [room] before it, And it took deep root, and filled the land. |
| 10 | Les montagnes étaient couvertes de son ombre, et ses rameaux étaient comme de hauts cèdres. | The mountains were covered with the shadow of it, And the boughs thereof were [like] cedars of God. |
| 11 | Elle avait étendu ses branches jusqu'à la mer, et ses rejetons jusqu'au fleuve. | It sent out its branches unto the sea, And its shoots unto the River. |
| 12 | Pourquoi as-tu rompu ses cloisons, de sorte que tous les passants en ont cueilli les raisins? | Why hast thou broken down its walls, So that all they that pass by the way do pluck it? |
| 13 | Les sangliers de la forêt l'ont détruite, et toutes sortes de bêtes sauvages l'ont broutée. | The boar out of the wood doth ravage it, And the wild beasts of the field feed on it. |
| 14 | Ô Dieu des armées retourne, je te prie; regarde des cieux, vois, et visite cette vigne; | Turn again, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: Look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine, |
| 15 | Et le plant que ta droite avait planté, et les provins que tu avais fait devenir forts pour toi. | And the stock which thy right hand planted, And the branch that thou madest strong for thyself. |
| 16 | Elle est brûlée par feu, elle est retranchée; ils périssent dès que tu te montres pour les tancer. | It is burned with fire, it is cut down: They perish at the rebuke of thy countenance. |
| 17 | Que ta main soit sur l'homme de ta droite, sur le fils de l'homme que tu t'es fortifié. | Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, Upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself. |
| 18 | Et nous ne nous retirerons point arrière de toi. Rends-nous la vie, et nous invoquerons ton Nom. | So shall we not go back from thee: Quicken thou us, and we will call upon thy name. |
