Tu t'es approprié cette montagne de Sion, sur laquelle tu as habité, afin qu'elle fût la portion de ton héritage. | Remember thy congregation, which thou hast gotten of old, Which thou hast redeemed to be the tribe of thine inheritance; [And] mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt. |
| 3 | Avance tes pas vers les masures de perpétuelle durée; l'ennemi a tout renversé au lieu Saint. | Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual ruins, All the evil that the enemy hath done in the sanctuary. |
| 4 | Tes adversaires ont rugi au milieu de tes Synagogues; ils ont mis leurs enseignes pour enseignes. | Thine adversaries have roared in the midst of thine assembly; They have set up their ensigns for signs. |
| 5 | Là chacun se faisait voir élevant en haut les haches à travers le bois entrelacé. | They seemed as men that lifted up Axes upon a thicket of trees. |
| 6 | Et maintenant avec des coignées et des marteaux ils brisent ensemble ses entaillures. | And now all the carved work thereof They break down with hatchet and hammers. |
| 7 | Ils ont mis en feu tes sanctuaires, et ont profané le Pavillon dédié à ton Nom, l'abattant par terre. | They have set thy sanctuary on fire; They have profaned the dwelling-place of thy name [by casting it] to the ground. |
| 8 | Ils ont dit en leur coeur: saccageons-les tous ensemble; ils ont brûlé toutes les Synagogues du Dieu Fort sur la terre. | They said in their heart, Let us make havoc of them altogether: They have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land. |
| 9 | Nous ne voyons plus nos enseignes; il n'y a plus de Prophètes; et il n'y a aucun avec nous qui sache jusques à quand. | We see not our signs: There is no more any prophet; Neither is there among us any that knoweth how long. |
| 10 | Ô Dieu! jusques à quand l'adversaire te couvrira-t-il d'opprobres? L'ennemi méprisera-t-il ton Nom à jamais? | How long, O God, shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever? |
| 11 | Pourquoi retires-tu ta main, même ta droite? Consume-les en la tirant du milieu de ton sein. | Why drawest thou back thy hand, even thy right hand? [Pluck it] out of thy bosom [and] consume [them]. |
| 12 | Or Dieu est mon Roi d'ancienneté, faisant des délivrances au milieu de la terre. | Yet God is my King of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth. |
| 13 | Tu as fendu la mer par ta force; tu as cassé les têtes des baleines sur les eaux. | Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: Thou brakest the heads of the sea-monsters in the waters. |
| 14 | Tu as brisé les têtes du Léviathan, tu l'as donné en viande au peuple des habitants des déserts. | Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces; Thou gavest him to be food to the people inhabiting the wilderness. |
| 15 | Tu as ouvert la fontaine et le torrent, tu as desséché les grosses rivières. | Thou didst cleave fountain and flood: Thou driedst up mighty rivers. |
| 16 | A toi est le jour, à toi aussi est la nuit; tu as établi la lumière et le soleil. | The day is thine, the night also is thine: Thou hast prepared the light and the sun. |
| 17 | Tu as posé toutes les limites de la terre; tu as formé l'Eté et l'Hiver. | Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: Thou hast made summer and winter. |
| 18 | Souviens-toi de ceci, que l'ennemi a blasphémé l'Eternel, et qu'un peuple insensé a outragé ton Nom. | Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O Jehovah, And that a foolish people hath blasphemed thy name. |
| 19 | N'abandonne point à la troupe de telles gens l'âme de ta tourterelle, n'oublie point à jamais la troupe de tes affligés. | Oh deliver not the soul of thy turtle-dove unto the wild beast: Forget not the life of thy poor for ever. |
| 20 | Regarde à ton alliance; car les lieux ténébreux de la terre sont remplis de cabanes de violence. | Have respect unto the covenant; For the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of violence. |
| 21 | Ne permets pas que celui qui est foulé s'en retourne tout confus, et fais que l'affligé et le pauvre louent ton Nom. | Oh let not the oppressed return ashamed: Let the poor and needy praise thy name. |
| 22 | Ô Dieu! lève-toi, défends ta cause, souviens-toi de l'opprobre qui t'est fait tous les jours par l'insensé. | Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: Remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee all the day. |
| 23 | N'oublie point le cri de tes adversaires; le bruit de ceux qui s'élèvent contre toi monte continuellement. | Forget not the voice of thine adversaries: The tumult of those that rise up against thee ascendeth continually.
