| 5 | Confie-toi de tout ton coeur en Yahweh, et ne t'appuie pas sur ta propre intelligence. | Trust in Jehovah with all thy heart, And lean not upon thine own understanding: |
| 6 | Pense à lui dans toutes tes voies, et il aplanira tes sentiers. | In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he will direct thy paths. |
| 7 | Ne sois pas sage à tes propres yeux; crains Yahweh et détourne-toi du mal. | Be not wise in thine own eyes; Fear Jehovah, and depart from evil: |
| 8 | Ce sera la santé pour ton corps, et un rafraîchissement pour tes os. | It will be health to thy navel, And marrow to thy bones. |
| 9 | Fais honneur à Dieu de tes biens, des prémices de tout ton revenu. | Honor Jehovah with thy substance, And with the first-fruits of all thine increase: |
| 10 | Alors tes greniers seront abondamment remplis; et tes cuves déborderont de vin nouveau. | So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, And thy vats shall overflow with new wine. |
| 11 | Mon fils, ne méprise pas la correction de Yahweh; et n'aie pas d'aversion pour ses châtiments. | My son, despise not the chastening of Jehovah; Neither be weary of his reproof: |
| 12 | Car Yahweh châtie celui qu'il aime, comme un père châtie l'enfant qu'il chérit. | For whom Jehovah loveth he reproveth; Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. |
| 13 | Heureux l'homme qui a trouvé la sagesse, et l'homme qui a acquis l'intelligence! | Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, And the man that getteth understanding. |
| 14 | Son acquisition vaut mieux que celle de l'argent, sa possession que celle de l'or pur. | For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, And the profit thereof than fine gold. |
| 15 | Elle est plus précieuse que les perles, tous les joyaux ne l'égalent pas. | She is more precious than rubies: And none of the things thou canst desire are to be compared unto her. |
| 16 | Dans sa droite est une longue vie, dans sa gauche, la richesse et la gloire. | Length of days is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor. |

| 18 | Elle est un arbre de vie pour ceux qui la saisissent et celui qui s'y attache est heureux. | She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: And happy is every one that retaineth her. |
| 19 | C'est par la sagesse que Yahweh a fondé la terre, par l'intelligence qu'il a affermi les cieux. | Jehovah by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding he established the heavens. |
| 20 | C'est par sa science que les abîmes se sont ouverts, et que les nuages distillent la rosée. | By his knowledge the depths were broken up, And the skies drop down the dew. |
| 21 | Mon fils, qu'elles ne s'éloignent pas de tes yeux, garde la sagesse et la réflexion; | My son, let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep sound wisdom and discretion: |
| 22 | elles seront la vie de ton âme, et l'ornement de ton cou. | So shall they be life unto thy soul, And grace to thy neck. |
| 23 | Alors tu marcheras en sécurité dans ton chemin, et ton pied ne heurtera pas. | Then shalt thou walk in thy way securely, And thy foot shall not stumble. |
| 24 | Si tu te couches, tu seras sans crainte; et quand tu seras couché, ton sommeil sera doux. | When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: Yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. |
| 25 | Tu n'auras à redouter ni une terreur subite, ni une attaque qui vienne des méchants. | Be not afraid of sudden fear, Neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh: |
| 26 | Car Yahweh sera ton assurance, et il préservera ton pied de tout piège. | For Jehovah will be thy confidence, And will keep thy foot from being taken. |
| 27 | Ne refuse pas un bienfait à ceux à qui il est dû, quand il est en ton pouvoir de l'accorder. | Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, When it is in the power of thy hand to do it. |
| 28 | Ne dis pas à ton prochain : « Va et reviens, demain je donnerai, » quand tu peux donner sur l'heure. | Say not unto thy neighbor, Go, and come again, And to-morrow I will give; When thou hast it by thee. |
| 29 | Ne médite pas le mal contre ton prochain, lorsqu'il reste tranquille près de toi. | Devise not evil against thy neighbor, Seeing he dwelleth securely by thee. |
| 30 | Ne conteste pas sans motif avec quelqu'un, lorsqu'il ne t'a point fait de mal. | Strive not with a man without cause, If he have done thee no harm. |
| 31 | Ne porte pas envie à l'homme de violence, et ne choisis aucune de ses voies : | Envy thou not the man of violence, And choose none of his ways. |
| 32 | car Yahweh a en horreur les hommes pervers, mais avec les coeurs droits est son intimité. | For the perverse is an abomination to Jehovah; But his friendship is with the upright. |
| 33 | La malédiction de Yahweh est dans la maison du méchant; mais il bénit le toit des justes. | The curse of Jehovah is in the house of the wicked; But he blesseth the habitation of the righteous. |
| 34 | Il se moque des moqueurs, et il donne la grâce aux humbles. | Surely he scoffeth at the scoffers; But he giveth grace unto the lowly. |
| 35 | La gloire sera le partage des sages, mais les insensés ont pour leur part l'ignominie. | The wise shall inherit glory; But shame shall be the promotion of fools. |
