| 3 | Le ciel dans sa hauteur, la terre dans sa profondeur, et le coeur des rois sont impénétrables. | As the heavens for height, and the earth for depth, So the heart of kings is unsearchable. | I cieli per la loro altezza, la terra per la sua profondità e il cuore dei re sono imperscrutabili. |

| 7 | car il vaut mieux qu'on te dise : « Monte ici », que si l'on t'humilie devant le prince que tes yeux ont vu. | For better is it that it be said unto thee, Come up hither, Than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince, Whom thine eyes have seen. | perché è meglio che ti si dica: Sali quassù, piuttosto che essere abbassato davanti al principe, che i tuoi occhi hanno visto. |

| 11 | Comme des pommes d'or sur des ciselures d'argent, ainsi est une parole dite à propos. | A word fitly spoken Is [like] apples of gold in network of silver. | Una parola detta al tempo giusto è come dei pomi d'oro su un vassoio d'argento. |
| 12 | Comme un anneau d'or et un ornement d'or fin, ainsi est le sage qui reprend une oreille docile. | [As] an ear-ring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, [So is] a wise reprover upon an obedient ear. | Per un orecchio obbediente, un saggio che rimprovera è come un orecchino d'oro, un ornamento d'oro fino. |
| 13 | Comme la fraîcheur de la neige au temps de la moisson, ainsi est le messager fidèle pour ceux qui l'envoient; il réjouit l'âme de son maître. | As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, [So is] a faithful messenger to them that send him; For he refresheth the soul of his masters. | Un messaggero fedele è per quelli che lo mandano, come il fresco della neve al tempo della mietitura, perché egli rinfresca l'anima del suo padrone. |

| 15 | Par la patience le juge se laisse persuader, et une langue douce peut briser des os. | By long forbearing is a ruler persuaded, And a soft tongue breaketh the bone. | Con la pazienza si persuade un principe, e la lingua dolce spezza le ossa. |
| 16 | Si tu trouves du miel, n'en mange que ce qui te suffit, de peur que, rassasié, tu ne le vomisses. | Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, Lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it. | Se trovi del miele, mangiane quanto ti basta, perché non ti rimpinzi per poi vomitarlo. |

| 23 | Le vent du nord enfante la pluie, et la langue qui médit en secret, un visage irrité. | The north wind bringeth forth rain: So doth a backbiting tongue an angry countenance. | La tramontana porta la pioggia, e la lingua che calunnia di nascosto rende un volto indignato. |
| 24 | Mieux vaut habiter à l'angle d'un toit, que de rester avec une femme querelleuse. | It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, Than with a contentious woman in a wide house. | E' meglio abitare sull'angolo di un tetto che in una casa condivisa con una moglie litigiosa. |
| 25 | De l'eau fraîche pour une personne altérée, telle est une bonne nouvelle venant d'une terre lointaine. | [As] cold waters to a thirsty soul, So is good news from a far country. | Una buona notizia da paese lontano è come acqua fresca a una persona stanca e assetata. |
| 26 | Une fontaine troublée et une source corrompue, tel est le juste qui chancelle devant le méchant. | [As] a troubled fountain, and a corrupted spring, [So is] a righteous man that giveth way before the wicked. | Il giusto che vacilla davanti all'empio è come una sorgente torbida e un pozzo inquinato. |
| 27 | Il n'est pas bon de manger beaucoup de miel; ainsi celui qui veut sonder la majesté divine sera accablé par sa gloire. | It is not good to eat much honey: So [for men] to search out their own glory is grievous. | Mangiare troppo miele non è bene, e ricercare la propria gloria non è gloria. |
