| 20 | car il n'y a pas d'avenir pour l'inique: la lampe des méchants s'éteindra. | For there shall be no reward to the evil man; The lamp of the wicked shall be put out. | perché non ci sarà avvenire per il malvagio; la lampada degli empi sarà spenta. |
| 21 | Mon fils, crains l'Éternel et le roi; ne te mêle pas avec les gens remuants, | My son, fear thou Jehovah and the king; [And] company not with them that are given to change: | Figlio mio, temi l'Eterno e il re, non associarti con quelli che vogliono cambiare; |
| 22 | car leur calamité surgira tout à coup; et qui sait la ruine des uns et des autres? | For their calamity shall rise suddenly; And the destruction from them both, who knoweth it? | la loro calamità sopraggiungerà improvvisa, e la rovina di entrambi chi la conosce? |
| 23 | Ces choses aussi viennent des sages: Faire acception des personnes dans le jugement n'est pas bien. | These also are [sayings] of the wise. To have respect of persons in judgment is not good. | Anche queste cose sono per i saggi. Non è bene usare preferenze personali in giudizio. |
| 24 | Celui qui dit au méchant: Tu es juste, les peuples le maudiront, les peuplades seront indignées contre lui; | He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; Peoples shall curse him, nations shall abhor him: | Chi dice all'empio: Tu sei giusto i popoli lo malediranno e le nazioni lo esecreranno. |
| 25 | mais ceux qui le reprennent seront agréables, et une bénédiction de bien viendra sur eux. | But to them that rebuke [him] shall be delight, And a good blessing shall come upon them. | Ma quelli che rimproverano l'empio troveranno delizie, e su di loro scenderanno le migliori benedizioni. |
| 26 | Celui qui répond des paroles justes baise les lèvres. | He kisseth the lips Who giveth a right answer. | Chi dà una risposta giusta dà un bacio sulle labbra. |
| 27 | Prépare ton ouvrage au dehors, et mets en état ton champ, et après, bâtis ta maison. | Prepare thy work without, And make it ready for thee in the field; And afterwards build thy house. | Metti in ordine i tuoi affari di fuori metti a posto i tuoi campi e poi costruirai la tua casa. |
| 28 | Ne sois pas témoin, sans motif, contre ton prochain; voudrais-tu donc tromper de tes lèvres? | Be not a witness against thy neighbor without cause; And deceive not with thy lips. | Non testimoniare senza motivo contro il tuo prossimo e non ingannare con le tue labbra. |
| 29 | Ne dis pas: Comme il m'a fait, je lui ferai; je rendrai à l'homme selon son oeuvre. | Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me; I will render to the man according to his work. | Non dire: Come ha fatto a me, così farò a lui; gli renderò secondo l'opera sua. |
| 30 | J'ai passé près du champ de l'homme paresseux et près de la vigne de l'homme dépourvu de sens, | I went by the field of the sluggard, And by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; | Son passato presso il campo del pigro e presso la vigna dell'uomo privo di senno; |
| 31 | et voici, tout y était monté en chardons, les orties en avaient couvert la surface, et sa clôture de pierres était démolie. | And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, The face thereof was covered with nettles, And the stone wall thereof was broken down. | ed ecco, dovunque crescevano le spine, i rovi ne coprivano il suolo e il muro di pietre era crollato. |

| 33 | Un peu de sommeil, un peu d'assoupissement, un peu croiser les mains pour dormir..., | [Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep; | dormire un po' sonnecchiare un po' incrociare un po' le braccia per riposare; |
| 34 | et ta pauvreté viendra comme un voyageur, et ton dénuement comme un homme armé. | So shall thy poverty come as a robber, And thy want as an armed man. | così la tua povertà verrà come un ladro e la tua indigenza come un uomo armato. |
