| 4 | The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter; Therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing. | Il pigro non ara a causa del freddo; elemosinerà quindi al tempo della raccolta, ma non avrà nulla. |
| 5 | Counsel in the heart of man is [like] deep water; But a man of understanding will draw it out. | Il consiglio nel cuore dell'uomo è come acqua profonda, ma l'uomo d'intendimento vi saprà attingere. |
| 6 | Most men will proclaim every one his own kindness; But a faithful man who can find? | Molti uomini proclamano la propria bontà; ma chi può trovare un uomo fedele? |

| 10 | Diverse weights, and diverse measures, Both of them alike are an abomination to Jehovah. | Doppio peso e doppia misura sono entrambe cose abominevoli per l'Eterno. |
| 11 | Even a child maketh himself known by his doings, Whether his work be pure, and whether it be right. | Anche il fanciullo si fa conoscere con i suoi atti se ciò che fa è puro e retto. |
| 12 | The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, Jehovah hath made even both of them. | L'orecchio che ode e l'occhio che vede li ha fatti tutt'e due l'Eterno. |
| 13 | Love not sleep, let thou come to poverty; Open thine eyes, [and] thou shalt be satisfied with bread. | Non amare il sonno, perché non abbia a impoverire; tieni gli occhi aperti e avrai pane a sazietà. |
| 14 | It is bad, it is bad, saith the buyer; But when he is gone his way, then he boasteth. | E' cattivo, è cattivo, dice il compratore; ma quando se ne è andato, si vanta dell'acquisto. |
| 15 | There is gold, and abundance of rubies; But the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel. | C'è oro e abbondanza di perle, ma le labbra ricche di conoscenza sono un gioiello prezioso. |
| 16 | Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; And hold him in pledge [that is surety] for foreigners. | Prendi il vestito di chi si è reso garante per un estraneo, e tienilo come pegno per la donna straniera. |
| 17 | Bread of falsehood is sweet to a man; But afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel. | Il pane ottenuto con frode è dolce all'uomo, ma dopo la sua bocca sarà piena di ghiaia. |
| 18 | Every purpose is established by counsel; And by wise guidance make thou war. | I disegni sono resi stabili dal consiglio; fa' dunque la guerra con saggi consigli. |
| 19 | He that goeth about as a tale-bearer revealeth secrets; Therefore company not with him that openeth wide his lips. | Chi va in giro sparlando rivela i segreti; perciò non associarti con chi parla troppo. |
| 20 | Whoso curseth his father or his mother, His lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness. | Chi maledice suo padre e sua madre, la sua lampada si spegnerà nelle tenebre più fitte. |
| 21 | An inheritance [may be] gotten hastily at the beginning; But the end thereof shall not be blessed. | L'eredità acquistata in fretta all'inizio, alla fine non sarà benedetta. |
| 22 | Say not thou, I will recompense evil: Wait for Jehovah, and he will save thee. | Non dire: Renderò male per male; spera nell'Eterno ed egli ti salverà. |
| 23 | Diverse weights are an abomination to Jehovah; And a false balance is not good. | Il peso doppio è un abominio all'Eterno, e la bilancia falsa non è cosa buona. |
| 24 | A man`s goings are of Jehovah; How then can man understand his way? | I passi dell'uomo sono dall'Eterno; come può quindi l'uomo conoscere la propria via? |
| 25 | It is a snare to a man rashly to say, [It is] holy, And after vows to make inquiry. | E' un laccio per l'uomo fare un voto sconsideratamente, e dopo aver fatto il voto ripensarci. |
| 26 | A wise king winnoweth the wicked, And bringeth the [threshing] -wheel over them. | Un re saggio disperde i malvagi e fa passare su di loro la ruota. |
| 27 | The spirit of man is the lamp of Jehovah, Searching all his innermost parts. | Lo spirito dell'uomo è la lampada dell'Eterno, che scruta tutti i più reconditi recessi del cuore. |
| 28 | Kindness and truth preserve the king; And his throne is upholden by kindness. | La bontà e la fedeltà custodiscono il re; egli rende stabile il suo trono con la bontà. |
| 29 | The glory of young men is their strength; And the beauty of old men is the hoary head. | La gloria dei giovani è la loro forza l'onore dei vecchi è la loro canizie. |
| 30 | Stripes that wound cleanse away evil; And strokes [reach] the innermost parts. | Le battiture che lasciano ferite profonde rimuovono il male, così le percosse che giungono nelle parti più interne delle viscere. |
