| 3 | The foolishness of man subverteth his way; And his heart fretteth against Jehovah. | La stoltezza dell'uomo rende la sua via sdrucciolevole e il suo cuore si irrita contro l'Eterno. |
| 4 | Wealth addeth many friends; But the poor is separated from his friend. | Le ricchezze procurano gran numero di amici, ma il povero è separato dal suo stesso amico. |
| 5 | A false witness shall not be unpunished; And he that uttereth lies shall not escape. | Il falso testimone non resterà impunito, e chi proferisce menzogne non avrà scampo. |
| 6 | Many will entreat the favor of the liberal man; And every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts. | Molti implorano il favore del principe, e tutti sono amici di chi fa doni. |
| 7 | All the brethren of the poor do hate him: How much more do his friends go far from him! He pursueth [them with] words, [but] they are gone. | Tutti i fratelli del povero lo odiano tanto più si allontanano da lui i suoi amici. | 11 | The discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger; And it is his glory to pass over a transgression. | Il senno di un uomo lo rende lento all'ira ed è sua gloria passar sopra le offese. |
| 12 | The king`s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; But his favor is as dew upon the grass. | L'ira del re è come il ruggito di un leone, ma il suo favore è come rugiada sull'erba. |
| 13 | A foolish son is the calamity of his father; And the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping. | Un figlio stolto è una calamità per suo padre, e le risse della moglie sono come un gocciolare incessante. |

| 17 | He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto Jehovah, And his good deed will he pay him again. | Chi ha pietà del povero presta all'Eterno, che gli contraccambierà ciò che ha dato. |
| 18 | Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope; nd set not thy heart on his destruction. | Castiga tuo figlio mentre c'è speranza, ma non lasciarti andare fino a farlo morire. |
| 19 | A man of great wrath shall bear the penalty; For if thou deliver [him], thou must do it yet again. | L'uomo grandemente irascibile deve subirne la punizione, perché risparmiandolo, lo diventerà ancora di più. |
| 20 | Hear counsel, and receive instruction, That thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. | Ascolta il consiglio e ricevi l'ammaestramento, affinché tu diventi saggio per il resto dei tuoi giorni. |
| 21 | There are many devices in a man`s heart; But the counsel of Jehovah, that shall stand. | Ci sono molti disegni nel cuore dell'uomo, ma solo il piano dell'Eterno rimarrà fermo. |
| 22 | That which maketh a man to be desired is his kindness; And a poor man is better than a liar. | Ciò che si desidera nell'uomo è la bontà, e un povero vale più di un bugiardo. |
| 23 | The fear of Jehovah [tendeth] to life; And he [that hath it] shall abide satisfied; He shall not be visited with evil. | Il timore dell'Eterno conduce alla vita; chi lo possiede dimorerà sazio e non sarà colpito da alcun male. |
| 24 | The sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, And will not so much as bring it to his mouth again. | Il pigro affonda la sua mano nel piatto, ma non riesce neppure a portarla alla bocca. |
| 25 | Smite a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; And reprove one that hath understanding, [and] he will understand knowledge. | Percuoti lo schernitore e il semplice diventerà accorto; riprendi chi ha intendimento e acquisterà conoscenza. |
| 26 | He that doeth violence to his father, and chaseth away his mother, Is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach. | Chi usa violenza con suo padre e scaccia sua madre, è un figlio che fa vergogna e porta disonore. |
| 27 | Cease, my son, to hear instruction [Only] to err from the words of knowledge. | Figlio mio, cessa di ascoltare l'ammaestramento, e ti allontanerai dalle parole di conoscenza. |
| 28 | A worthless witness mocketh at justice; And the mouth of the wicked swalloweth iniquity. | Il testimone malvagio si burla della giustizia, e la bocca degli empi divora l'iniquità. |
| 29 | Judgments are prepared for scoffers, And stripes for the back of fools. | Le punizioni sono preparate per gli schernitori, e le percosse per il dorso degli stolti. |
