| 4 | The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. | L'Eternel a fait tout pour soi-même; et même le méchant pour le jour de la calamité. |
| 5 | Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. | L'Eternel a en abomination tout homme hautain de coeur; de main en main il ne demeurera point impuni. |
| 6 | By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil. | Il y aura propitiation pour l'iniquité par la miséricorde et la vérité; et on se détourne du mal par la crainte de l'Eternel. |
| 7 | When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. | Quand l'Eternel prend plaisir aux voies de l'homme, il apaise envers lui ses ennemis mêmes. |
| 8 | Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. | Il vaut mieux un peu de bien avec justice, qu'un gros revenu là où l'on n'a point de droit. |
| 9 | A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps. | Le coeur de l'homme délibère de sa voie; mais l'Eternel conduit ses pas. |
| 10 | A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment. | Il y a divination aux lèvres du Roi, et sa bouche ne se fourvoiera point du droit. |
| 11 | A just weight and balance are the LORD's: all the weights of the bag are his work. | La balance et le trébuchet justes sont de l'Eternel, et tous les poids du sachet sont son oeuvre. |
| 12 | It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness. | Ce doit être une abomination aux Rois de faire injustice, parce que le trône est établi par la justice. |
| 13 | Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right. | Les Rois doivent prendre plaisir aux lèvres de justice, et aimer celui qui profère des choses justes. |
| 14 | The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it. | Ce sont autant de messagers de mort que la colère du Roi; mais l'homme sage l'apaisera. |
| 15 | In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain. | C'est vie que le visage serein du Roi, et sa faveur est comme la nuée portant la pluie de la dernière saison. |
| 16 | How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! | Combien est-il plus précieux que le fin or, d'acquérir de la sagesse; et combien est-il plus excellent que l'argent, d'acquérir de la prudence? |
| 17 | The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. | Le chemin relevé des hommes droits, c'est de se détourner du mal; celui-là garde son âme qui prend garde à son train. |
| 18 | Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. | L'orgueil va devant l'écrasement; et la fierté d'esprit devant la ruine. |
| 19 | Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. | Mieux vaut être humilié d'esprit avec les débonnaires, que de partager le butin avec les orgueilleux. |
| 20 | He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he. | Celui qui prend garde à la parole, trouvera le bien; et celui qui se confie en l'Eternel, est bienheureux. |
| 21 | The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. | On appellera prudent le sage de coeur; et la douceur des lèvres augmente la doctrine. |
| 22 | Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly. | La prudence est à ceux qui la possèdent une source de vie; mais l'instruction des fous est une folie. |
| 23 | The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. | Le coeur sage conduit prudemment sa bouche, et ajoute doctrine sur ses lèvres. |
| 24 | Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. | Les paroles agréables sont des rayons de miel, douceur à l'âme, et santé aux os. |
| 25 | There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. | II y a telle voie qui semble droite à l'homme, mais dont la fin sont les voies de la mort. |
| 26 | He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him. | L'âme de celui qui travaille, travaille pour lui-même, parce que sa bouche se courbe devant lui. |
| 27 | An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire. | Le méchant creuse le mal, et il y a comme un feu brûlant sur ses lèvres. |
| 28 | A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends. | L'homme qui use de renversements, sème des querelles, et le rapporteur met le plus grand ami en division. |
| 29 | A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good. | L'homme violent attire son compagnon, et le fait marcher par une voie qui n'est pas bonne. |
| 30 | He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass. | Il fait signe des yeux pour machiner des renversements, et remuant ses lèvres il exécute le mal. |
| 31 | The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness. | Les cheveux blancs sont une couronne d'honneur; et elle se trouvera dans la voie de la justice. |
| 32 | He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. | Celui qui est tardif à colère, vaut mieux que l'homme fort; et celui qui est le maître de son coeur, vaut mieux que celui qui prend des villes. |
| 33 | The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD. | On jette le sort au giron, mais tout ce qui en doit arriver, est de par l'Eternel. |
