1A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.L'enfant sage écoute l'instruction de son père; mais le moqueur n'écoute point la réprimande.A wise son [heareth] his father`s instruction; But a scoffer heareth not rebuke.
2A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.L'homme sera rassasié de bien par le fruit de sa bouche; mais l'âme des perfides vit d'injustice.A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth; But the soul of the treacherous [shall eat] violence.
3He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.Celui qui garde sa bouche, garde son âme; mais celui qui ouvre trop ses lèvres, y trouvera sa perte.He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his life; [But] he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.L'âme du paresseux ne fait que souhaiter, et il n'a rien; mais l'âme des diligents sera rassasiée.The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.Le juste hait la parole de mensonge; mais le méchant se rend odieux, et tombe dans la confusion.A righteous man hateth lying; But a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
6Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.La justice garde celui qui marche dans l'intégrité; mais la méchanceté renversera celui qui s'égare.Righteousness guardeth him that is upright in the way; But wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.Tel se fait riche qui n'a rien du tout; et tel se fait pauvre qui a de grands biens.There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: There is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great wealth.
8The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.Les richesses font qu'un homme peut racheter sa vie; mais le pauvre n'entend point de menaces.The ransom of a man`s life is his riches; But the poor heareth no threatening.
9The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.La lumière des justes réjouira; mais la lampe des méchants s'éteindra.The light of the righteous rejoiceth; But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
10Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.L'orgueil ne produit que des querelles; mais la sagesse est avec ceux qui prennent conseil.By pride cometh only contention; But with the well-advised is wisdom.
11Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.Les richesses mal acquises, seront diminuées; mais celui qui amasse par son travail, les multipliera.Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished; But he that gathereth by labor shall have increase.
12Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.L'espérance différée fait languir le coeur; mais le souhait accompli est comme l'arbre de vie.Hope deferred maketh the heart sick; But when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
13Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.Celui qui méprise la Parole, se perd; mais celui qui respecte le commandement, en aura la récompense.Whoso despiseth the word bringeth destruction on himself; But he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
14The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.L'enseignement du sage est une source de vie, pour détourner des pièges de la mort.The law of the wise is a fountain of life, That one may depart from the snares of death.
15Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.Une raison saine donne de la grâce; mais la voie de ceux qui agissent perfidement, est rude.Good understanding giveth favor; But the way of the transgressor is hard.
16Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.Tout homme bien avisé agit avec intelligence; mais l'insensé fait voir sa folie.Every prudent man worketh with knowledge; But a fool flaunteth [his] folly.
17A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.Le méchant messager tombera dans le mal; mais le messager fidèle apporte la guérison.A wicked messenger falleth into evil; But a faithful ambassador is health.
18Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.La pauvreté et l'ignominie arriveront à celui qui rejette l'instruction; mais celui qui profite de la réprimande, sera honoré.Poverty and shame [shall be to] him that refuseth correction; But he that regardeth reproof shall be honored.
19The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.Le souhait accompli est une chose douce à l'âme; mais se détourner du mal fait horreur aux insensés.The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul; But it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.Celui qui fréquente les sages, deviendra sage; mais le compagnon des fous se perdra.Walk with wise men, and thou shalt be wise; But the companion of fools shall smart for it.
21Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.Le mal poursuit les pécheurs; mais le bonheur est la récompense des justes.Evil pursueth sinners; But the righteous shall be recompensed with good.
22A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.L'homme de bien transmettra son héritage aux enfants de ses enfants; mais les richesses du pécheur sont réservées pour le juste.A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children`s children; And the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.
23Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.Il y a beaucoup à manger dans le champ défriché par le pauvre; mais il y a des hommes qui périssent faute de jugement.Much food [is in] the tillage of the poor; But there is that is destroyed by reason of injustice.
24He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.Celui qui épargne la verge, hait son fils; mais celui qui l'aime se hâte de le châtier.He that spareth his rod hateth his son; But he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
25The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.Le juste mangera et sera rassasié à souhait; mais le ventre des méchants aura disette.The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul; But the belly of the wicked shall want.
