Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images. Israel is a luxuriant vine, that putteth forth his fruit: according to the abundance of his fruit he hath multiplied his altars; according to the goodness of their land they have made goodly pillars.
Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images. Their heart is divided; now shall they be found guilty: he will smite their altars, he will destroy their pillars.
For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the LORD; what then should a king do to us?Car bientôt ils diront: Nous n'avons point de roi, car nous n'avons pas craint l'Éternel; et que nous ferait un roiSurely now shall they say, We have no king; for we fear not Jehovah; and the king, what can he do for us?
They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field. They speak [vain] words, swearing falsely in making covenants: therefore judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.
The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.Les habitants de Samarie sont épouvantés à cause des veaux de Beth-Aven; car le peuple mènera deuil sur son idole, et ses prêtres tremblent pour sa gloire, qui va disparaître du milieu d'eux. The inhabitants of Samaria shall be in terror for the calves of Beth-aven; for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced over it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.
It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel. It also shall be carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.
As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water.Le roi de Samarie disparaît, comme l'écume à la surface des eaux.[As for] Samaria, her king is cut off, as foam upon the water.
The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.Et les hauts lieux d'Aven, le péché d'Israël, seront détruits; l'épine et le chardon croîtront sur leurs autels; et ils diront aux montagnes: Couvrez-nous! et aux coteaux: Tombez sur nous! The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.
O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.Dès les jours de Guibea tu as péché, Israël! Ils se sont tenus là; la guerre contre les impies ne les atteignit point à Guibea.O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood; the battle against the children of iniquity doth not overtake them in Gibeah.
It is in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows. When it is my desire, I will chastise them; and the peoples shall be gathered against them, when they are bound to their two transgressions.
And Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught, and loveth to tread out the corn; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.Éphraïm est une génisse dressée, et qui aime à fouler le grain; mais je m'approcherai de son cou superbe: j'attellerai Éphraïm, Juda labourera, Jacob traînera la herse. And Ephraim is a heifer that is taught, that loveth to tread out [the grain]; but I have passed over upon her fair neck: I will set a rider on Ephraim; Judah shall plow, Jacob shall break his clods.
Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap according to kindness; break up your fallow ground; for it is time to seek Jehovah, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men. Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies; for thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.C'est pourquoi un tumulte s'élèvera parmi ton peuple, et on détruira toutes tes forteresses, comme Shalman a détruit Beth-Arbel au jour de la bataille où la mère fut écrasée avec les enfants. Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be destroyed, as Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces with her children.
So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.Béthel vous fera de même, à cause de votre extrême méchanceté. So shall Beth-el do unto you because of your great wickedness: at daybreak shall the king of Israel be utterly cut off.
