| 2 | Et ils s'élevèrent contre Moïse, avec deux cent cinquante hommes des enfants d'Israël, qui étaient des principaux de l'assemblée, lesquels on appelait pour tenir le conseil, et qui étaient des gens de réputation. | and they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the congregation, called to the assembly, men of renown; |
| 3 | Et ils s'assemblèrent contre Moïse et contre Aaron, et leur dirent: Qu'il vous suffise, puisque tous ceux de l'assemblée sont saints, et que l'Eternel est au milieu d'eux, pourquoi vous élevez-vous par dessus l'assemblée de l'Eternel? | and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and Jehovah is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the assembly of Jehovah? |
| 4 | Ce que Moïse ayant entendu, il se prosterna le visage contre terre. | And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face: |
| 5 | Et il parla à Coré et à tous ceux qui étaient assemblés avec lui, et leur dit: Demain au matin l'Eternel donnera à connaître celui qui lui appartient, et celui qui est le saint, et il le fera approcher de lui; il fera, dis-je, approcher de lui celui qu'il aura choisi. | and he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, In the morning Jehovah will show who are his, and who is holy, and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he shall choose will he cause to come near unto him. |
| 6 | Faites ceci, prenez-vous des encensoirs; que Coré, dis-je, et tous ceux qui sont assemblés avec lui, prennent des encensoirs. | This do: take you censers, Korah, and all his company; |
| 7 | Et demain mettez-y du feu, et mettez-y du parfum devant l'Eternel; et l'homme que l'Eternel aura choisi sera le saint. Enfants de Lévi; qu'il vous suffise. | and put fire in them, and put incense upon them before Jehovah to-morrow: and it shall be that the man whom Jehovah doth choose, he [shall be] holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi. |
| 8 | Moïse dit aussi à Coré: Ecoutez maintenant, enfants de Lévi. | And Moses said unto Korah, Hear now, ye sons of Levi: |
| 9 | Est-ce trop peu de chose pour vous que le Dieu d'Israël vous ait séparés de l'assemblée d'Israël, en vous faisant approcher de lui pour être employés au service du pavillon de l'Eternel, et pour assister devant l'assemblée afin de la servir? | [seemeth it but] a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of Jehovah, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them; |
| 10 | Et qu'il t'ait fait approcher, toi et tous tes frères, les enfants de Lévi, avec toi, que vous recherchiez encore la Sacrificature? | and that he hath brought thee near, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee? and seek ye the priesthood also? |
| 11 | C'est pourquoi toi, et tous ceux qui sont assemblés avec toi, vous vous êtes assemblés contre l'Eternel; car qui est Aaron que vous murmuriez contre lui? | Therefore thou and all thy company are gathered together against Jehovah: and Aaron, what is he that ye murmur against him? |
| 12 | Et Moïse envoya appeler Dathan et Abiram, enfants d'Eliab, qui répondirent: Nous n'y monterons point. | And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab; and they said, We will not come up: |
| 13 | Est-ce peu de chose que tu nous aies fait monter hors d'un pays découlant de lait et de miel, pour nous faire mourir dans ce désert, que même tu veuilles dominer sur nous? | is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but thou must needs make thyself also a prince over us? |
| 14 | Nous as-tu fait venir en un pays découlant de lait et de miel; et nous as-tu donné quelque héritage de champs ou de vignes? crèveras-tu les yeux de ces gens-ici? nous n'y monterons point. | Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up. |
| 15 | Alors Moïse fut fort irrité, et dit à l'Eternel: Ne regarde point à leur offrande; je n'ai point pris d'eux un seul âne, et je n'ai point fait de mal à aucun d'eux. | And Moses was very wroth, and said unto Jehovah, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them. |
| 16 | Puis Moïse dit à Coré: Toi et tous ceux qui sont assemblés avec toi, trouvez-vous demain devant l'Eternel, toi, dis-je, et ceux-ci; et Aaron aussi. | And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before Jehovah, thou, and they, and Aaron, to-morrow: |
| 17 | Et prenez chacun vos encensoirs, et mettez-y du parfum; et que chacun présente devant l'Eternel son encensoir, qui seront deux cent cinquante encensoirs; et toi et Aaron aussi, chacun avec son encensoir. | and take ye every man his censer, and put incense upon them, and bring ye before Jehovah every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also, and Aaron, each his censer. |
| 18 | Ils prirent donc chacun son encensoir, et y mirent du feu, et ensuite du parfum, et ils se tinrent à l'entrée du Tabernacle d'assignation, et Moïse et Aaron s'y tinrent aussi. | And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense thereon, and stood at the door of the tent of meeting with Moses and Aaron. |
| 19 | Et Coré fit assembler contr'eux toute l'assemblée à l'entrée du Tabernacle d'assignation; et la gloire de l'Eternel apparut à toute l'assemblée. | And Korah assembled all the congregation against them unto the door of the tent of meeting: and the glory of Jehovah appeared unto all the congregation. |
| 20 | Puis l'Eternel parla à Moïse et à Aaron, en disant: | And Jehovah spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, |
| 21 | Séparez-vous du milieu de cette assemblée, et je les consumerai en un moment. | Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. |
| 22 | Mais ils se prosternèrent le visage contre terre, et dirent: Ô Dieu Fort? Dieu des esprits de toute chair? un seul homme aura péché, et te mettras-tu en colère contre toute l'assemblée? | And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation? |
| 23 | Et l'Eternel parla à Moïse, en disant: | And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, |
| 24 | Parle à l'assemblée, et lui dis: retirez-vous d'auprès des pavillons de Coré, de Dathan, et d'Abiram. | Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. |
| 25 | Moïse donc se leva et s'en alla vers Dathan et Abiram; et les Anciens d'Israël le suivirent. | And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him. |
| 26 | Et il parla à l'assemblée, en disant: Retirez-vous, je vous prie, d'auprès des tentes de ces méchants hommes, et ne touchez à rien qui leur appartienne, de peur que vous ne soyez consumés pour tous leurs péchés. | And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins. |
| 27 | Ils se retirèrent donc d'auprès des pavillons de Coré, de Dathan et d'Abiram. Et Dathan et Abiram sortirent; et se tinrent debout à l'entrée de leurs tentes, avec leurs femmes, leurs enfants, et leurs familles. | So they gat them up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood at the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little ones. |
| 28 | Et Moïse dit: Vous connaîtrez à ceci que l'Eternel m'a envoyé pour faire toutes ces choses-là, et que je n'ai rien fait de moi-même. | And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that Jehovah hath sent me to do all these works; for [I have] not [done them] of mine own mind. |
| 29 | Si ceux-là meurent comme tous les hommes meurent, et s'ils sont punis de la punition de tous les hommes, l'Eternel ne m'a point envoyé. | If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then Jehovah hath not sent me. |
| 30 | Mais si l'Eternel crée un cas tout nouveau, et que la terre ouvre sa bouche, et les engloutisse avec tout ce qui leur appartient, et qu'ils descendent tout vifs dans le gouffre; alors vous saurez que ces hommes-là ont irrité par mépris l'Eternel. | But if Jehovah make a new thing, and the ground open its mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down alive into Sheol; then ye shall understand that these men have despised Jehovah. |
| 31 | Et il arriva qu'aussitôt qu'il eut achevé de dire toutes ces paroles, la terre qui était sous eux, se fendit. | And it came to pass, as he made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them; |
| 32 | Et la terre ouvrit sa bouche, et les engloutit, avec leurs tentes, et tous les hommes qui étaient à Coré, et tout leur bien. | and the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. |
| 33 | Ils descendirent donc tout vifs dans le gouffre, eux, et tous ceux qui étaient à eux; et la terre les couvrit, et ils périrent au milieu de l'assemblée. | So they, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into Sheol: and the earth closed upon them, and they perished from among the assembly. |
| 34 | Et tout Israël qui était autour d'eux, s'enfuit à leur cri; car ils disaient: Prenons garde que la terre ne nous engloutisse. | And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them; for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up. |
| 35 | Et le feu sortit de part de l'Eternel, et consuma les deux cent cinquante hommes qui offraient le parfum. | And fire came forth from Jehovah, and devoured the two hundred and fifty men that offered the incense. |
| 36 | Puis l'Eternel parla à Moïse, en disant: | And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, |
| 37 | Dis à Eléazar fils d'Aaron, Sacrificateur, qu'il relève les encensoirs du milieu de l'incendie, et qu'on en épande le feu au loin, car ils sont sanctifiés; | Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are holy, |
| 38 | Savoir les encensoirs de ceux qui ont péché sur leurs âmes, et qu'on en fasse des plaques larges pour couvrir l'autel; puisqu'ils les ont offerts devant l'Eternel ils seront sanctifiés, et ils seront pour signe aux enfants d'Israël. | even the censers of these sinners against their own lives; and let them be made beaten plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before Jehovah; therefore they are holy; and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel. |
| 39 | Ainsi Eléazar Sacrificateur prit les encensoirs d'airain, que ces hommes qui furent brûlés avaient présentés, et on en fit des plaques pour couvrir l'autel. | And Eleazar the priest took the brazen censers, which they that were burnt had offered; and they beat them out for a covering of the altar, |
| 40 | C'est un mémorial pour les enfants d'Israël, afin qu'aucun étranger qui n'est pas de la race d'Aaron, ne s'approche point pour faire le parfum en la présence de l'Eternel, et qu'il ne soit comme Coré, et comme ceux qui ont été assemblés avec lui; ainsi que l'Eternel en a parlé par le moyen de Moïse. | to be a memorial unto the children of Israel, to the end that no stranger, that is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to burn incense before Jehovah; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as Jehovah spake unto him by Moses. |
| 41 | Or dès le lendemain toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël murmura contre Moïse et contre Aaron, en disant: Vous avez fait mourir le peuple de l'Eternel. | But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of Jehovah. |
| 42 | Et il arriva comme l'assemblée s'amassait contre Moïse et contre Aaron, qu'ils regardèrent vers le Tabernacle d'assignation, et voici la nuée le couvrit, et la gloire de l'Eternel apparut. | And it came to pass, when the congregation was assembled against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tent of meeting: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of Jehovah appeared. |
| 43 | Moïse donc et Aaron vinrent devant le Tabernacle d'assignation. | And Moses and Aaron came to the front of the tent of meeting. |
| 44 | Et l'Eternel parla à Moïse, en disant: | And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, |
| 45 | Otez-vous du milieu de cette assemblée, et je les consumerai en un moment. Alors ils se prosternèrent le visage contre terre. | Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. And they fell upon their faces. |
| 46 | Puis Moïse dit à Aaron: Prends l'encensoir, et mets-y du feu de dessus l'autel, mets-y aussi du parfum, et va promptement à l'assemblée, et fais propitiation pour eux; car une grande colère est partie de devant l'Eternel; la plaie est commencée. | And Moses said unto Aaron, Take they censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and lay incense thereon, and carry it quickly unto the congregation, and make atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from Jehovah; the plague is begun. |
| 47 | Et Aaron prit l'encensoir, comme Moïse lui avait dit, et il courut au milieu de l'assemblée, et voici la plaie avait déjà commencé sur le peuple. Alors il mit du parfum, et fit propitiation pour le peuple. | And Aaron took as Moses spake, and ran into the midst of the assembly; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on the incense, and made atonement for the people. |
| 48 | Et comme il se tenait entre les morts elles vivants, la plaie fut arrêtée. | And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed. |
| 49 | Et il y en eut quatorze mille sept cents qui moururent de cette plaie, outre ceux qui étaient morts pour le fait de Coré. | Now they that died by the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, besides them that died about the matter of Korah. |
| 50 | Et Aaron retourna vers Moïse à l'entrée du Tabernacle d'assignation, après que la plaie fut arrêtée. | And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tent of meeting: and the plague was stayed. |
