| 1 | Descendu de la montagne, des foules nombreuses le suivirent. | And when he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. |
| 2 | Et voici qu'un lépreux s'approcha, se prosterna devant lui et dit : "Seigneur, si vous voulez, vous pouvez me guérir." | And behold, there came to him a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. |
| 3 | Il étendit la main, le toucha et dit : "Je le veux, sois guéri."Et à l'instant sa lèpre fut guérie. | And he stretched forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou made clean. And straightway his leprosy was cleansed. |
| 4 | Alors Jésus lui dit : "Garde-toi d'en parler à personne; mais va te montrer au prêtre, et offre le don prescrit par Moïse, en attestation pour eux." | And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. |
| 5 | Comme Jésus était entré à Capharnaüm, un centurion l'aborda et lui fit | And when he was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, |
| 6 | cette prière : "Seigneur, mon serviteur est couché dans ma maison, paralysé, et il souffre cruellement." | and saying, Lord, my servant lieth in the house sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. |
| 7 | Il lui dit : "Je vais aller le guérir." | And he saith unto him, I will come and heal him. |
| 8 | Le centurion reprit : "Seigneur, je ne suis pas digne que vous entriez sous mon toit; mais dites seulement un mot, et mon serviteur sera guéri. | And the centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant shall be healed. |
| 9 | Car moi qui suis sous des chefs, j'ai des soldats sous mes ordres, et je dis à l'un : "Va, "et il va; et à un autre : "Viens, "et il vient; et à mon serviteur : "Fais ceci, "et il le fait." | For I also am a man under authority, having under myself soldiers: and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. |
| 10 | Ce qu'entendant, Jésus fut dans l'admiration, et il dit à ceux qui le suivaient : "Je vous le dis en vérité : dans Israël, chez personne je n'ai trouvé une si grande foi. | And when Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. |
| 11 | Or je vous le dis : beaucoup viendront de l'Orient et de l'Occident, et prendront place au festin avec Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, dans le royaume des cieux, | And I say unto you, that many shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven: |
| 12 | tandis que les fils du royaume seront jetés dans les ténèbres extérieures : là seront les pleurs et le grincement de dents." | but the sons of the kingdom shall be cast forth into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. |
| 13 | Et Jésus dit au centurion : "Va, et qu'il te soit fait selon ta foi ! "Et à l'heure même le serviteur se trouva guéri. | And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; as thou hast believed, [so] be it done unto thee. And the servant was healed in that hour. |
| 14 | Et Jésus, étant allé dans la maison de Pierre, vit sa belle-mère qui était au lit, tenue par la fièvre. | And when Jesus was come into Peter`s house, he saw his wife`s mother lying sick of a fever. |
| 15 | Il lui toucha la main, et la fièvre la quitta; elle se leva et se mit à le servir. | And he touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she arose, and ministered unto him. |
| 16 | Le soir venu, on lui amena quantité de démoniaques, et il chassa d'un mot les esprits et il guérit tous les malades, | And when even was come, they brought unto him many possessed with demons: and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were sick: |
| 17 | afin que fût accompli ce qui a été dit par le prophète Isaïe : Il a pris nos infirmités et s'est chargé de nos maladies. | that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: Himself took our infirmities, and bare our diseases. |
| 18 | Jésus, voyant une foule autour de lui, donna l'ordre de passer à l'autre rive. | Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandments to depart unto the other side. |
| 19 | Et un scribe s'approcha et lui dit : "Maître, je vous suivrai où que vous alliez." | And there came a scribe, and said unto him, Teacher, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. |
| 20 | Jésus lui dit : "Les renards ont des tanières et les oiseaux du ciel des abris, mais le Fils de l'homme n'a pas où reposer la tête." | And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven [have] nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. |
| 21 | Un autre, du nombre des disciples, lui dit : "Seigneur, permettez-moi d'aller d'abord ensevelir mon père." | And another of the disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. |
| 22 | Mais Jésus lui dit : "Suis-moi, et laisse les morts ensevelir leurs morts." | But Jesus saith unto him, Follow me; and leave the dead to bury their own dead. |
| 23 | Quand il fut monté dans la barque, ses disciples le suivirent. | And when he was entered into a boat, his disciples followed him. |
| 24 | Et voici que la mer devint très agitée, au point que la barque était couverte par les vagues : lui cependant dormait. | And behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the boat was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. |
| 25 | Ses disciples s'approchèrent, le réveillèrent et lui dirent : "Seigneur, sauvez-nous, nous périssons ! " | And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Save, Lord; we perish. |
| 26 | Il leur dit : "Pourquoi êtes-vous peureux, hommes de peu de foi ?"Alors il se dressa et commanda avec force aux vents et à la mer, et il se fit un grand calme. | And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. |
| 27 | Et les hommes, saisis d'admiration, disaient : "Qui est-il donc, que même les vents et la mer lui obéissent ?" | And the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him? |
| 28 | Quand il fut arrivé à l'autre rive, au pays des Gadaréniens, vinrent à sa rencontre deux démoniaques qui sortaient des tombeaux; ils étaient si méchants que personne ne pouvait passer par ce chemin. | And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, there met him two possessed with demons, coming forth out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man could pass by that way. |
| 29 | Et ils se mirent à crier : "Qu'avons-nous affaire ensemble, Fils de Dieu ? Etes-vous venu ici pour nous tourmenter avant le temps ?" | And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? |
| 30 | Or il y avait, à quelque distance d'eux, un fort troupeau de porcs qui paissaient. | Now there was afar off from them a herd of many swine feeding. |
| 31 | Et les démons lui firent cette prière : "Si vous nous chassez, envoyez-nous dans ce troupeau de porcs." | And the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine. |
| 32 | Il leur dit : "Allez."Ils sortirent et passèrent dans les porcs. Et voici que tout le troupeau se précipita par les pentes escarpées dans la mer, et ils périrent dans les eaux. | And he said unto them, Go. And they came out, and went into the swine: and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep into the sea, and perished in the waters. |
| 33 | Ceux qui les gardaient s'enfuirent, et ils s'en allèrent dans la ville, où ils racontèrent tout cela et ce qui était arrivé aux démoniaques. | And they that fed them fled, and went away into the city, and told everything, and what was befallen to them that were possessed with demons. |
| 34 | Et voici que toute la ville sortit au-devant de Jésus, et, l'ayant vu, ils le supplièrent de quitter leur territoire. | And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought [him] that he would depart from their borders. |
