| 1 | Alors le royaume des cieux sera semblable à dix vierges qui, ayant pris leurs lampes, sortirent à la rencontre de l'époux. | Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. |
| 2 | Cinq d'entre elles étaient folles, et cinq étaient sages. | And five of them were foolish, and five were wise. |
| 3 | Les folles, en prenant leurs lampes, n'avaient pas pris d'huile avec elles; | For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them: |
| 4 | mais les sages avaient pris de l'huile dans leurs vases avec leurs lampes. | but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. |
| 5 | Comme l'époux tardait, elles s'assoupirent toutes et s'endormirent. | Now while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. |
| 6 | Au milieu de la nuit, un cri se fit (entendre) : "Voici l'époux ! Allez à sa rencontre ! " | But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him. |
| 7 | Alors toutes ces vierges se levèrent et préparèrent leurs lampes. | Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. |
| 8 | Et les folles dirent aux sages : "Donnez-nous de votre huile, car nos lampes s'éteignent." | And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out. |
| 9 | Les sages répondirent : "De crainte qu'il n'y en ait pas assez pour nous et pour vous, allez plutôt chez ceux qui en vendent, et achetez-en pour vous." | But the wise answered, saying, Peradventure there will not be enough for us and you: go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. |
| 10 | Mais, pendant qu'elles s'en allaient en acheter, l'époux arriva, et celles qui étaient prêtes entrèrent avec lui au festin des noces, et la porte fut fermée. | And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut. |
| 11 | Plus tard, les autres vierges vinrent aussi, disant : "Seigneur, Seigneur, ouvrez-nous ! " | Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. |
| 12 | Mais il répondit : "En vérité, je vous le dis, je ne vous connais pas." | But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. |
| 13 | Donc veillez, car vous ne savez ni le jour, ni l'heure. | Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour. |
| 14 | Car il en est comme d'un homme qui, partant pour un voyage, appela ses serviteurs et leur remit ses biens. | For [it is] as [when] a man, going into another country, called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. |
| 15 | A l'un il donna cinq talents, à un autre deux, à un autre un, à chacun selon sa capacité, et il partit en voyage. Aussitôt, | And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his several ability; and he went on his journey. |
| 16 | celui qui avait reçu les cinq talents s'en alla les faire valoir, et il en gagna cinq autres. | Straightway he that received the five talents went and traded with them, and made other five talents. |
| 17 | De la même manière, celui qui (avait reçu) les deux, en gagna lui aussi deux autres. | In like manner he also that [received] the two gained other two. |
| 18 | Mais celui qui en avait reçu un s'en alla faire un trou en terre, et il y cacha l'argent de son maître. | But he that received the one went away and digged in the earth, and hid his lord`s money. |
| 19 | Longtemps après, le maître de ces serviteurs revient et leur fait rendre compte. | Now after a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and maketh a reckoning with them. |
| 20 | S'avançant, celui qui avait reçu les cinq talents en présenta cinq autres, en disant : "Maître, vous m'aviez remis cinq talents; voici cinq autres talents que j'ai gagnés." | And he that received the five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: lo, I have gained other five talents. |
| 21 | Son maître lui dit : "Bien, serviteur bon et fidèle; en peu tu as été fidèle, je te préposerai à beaucoup; entre dans la joie de ton maître." | His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord. |
| 22 | S'avançant aussi, celui qui (avait reçu) les deux talents dit : "Maître, vous m'aviez remis deux talents; voici deux autres talents que j'ai gagnés." | And he also that [received] the two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: lo, I have gained other two talents. |

| 25 | J'ai eu peur, et je suis allé cacher votre talent dans la terre; le voici, vous avec ce qui est à vous." | and I was afraid, and went away and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, thou hast thine own. |
| 26 | Son maître lui répondit : "Serviteur mauvais et paresseux, tu savais que je moissonne où je n'ai pas semé, et que je recueille où je n'ai pas répandu; | But his lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I did not scatter; |
| 27 | il te fallait donc porter mon argent aux banquiers, et, à mon retour, j'aurais repris ce qui est mien avec un intérêt. | thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back mine own with interest. |
| 28 | Otez-lui donc le talent, et donnez-le à celui qui a les dix talents. | Take ye away therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him that hath the ten talents. |
| 29 | Car on donnera à celui qui a, quel qu'il soit, et il y aura (pour lui) surabondance; mais à celui qui n'a pas, on lui ôtera même ce qu'il a. | For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken away. |
| 30 | Et ce serviteur inutile, jetez-le dans les ténèbres extérieures : là il y aura les pleurs et le grincement de dents. | And cast ye out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. |
| 31 | Or quand le Fils de l'homme viendra dans sa gloire, et tous les anges avec lui, il s'assiéra alors sur son trône de gloire, | But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory: |
| 32 | et toutes les nations seront rassemblées devant lui, et il séparera les uns d'avec les autres, comme le pasteur sépare les brebis d'avec les boucs, | and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats; |
| 33 | et il mettra les brebis à sa droite et les boucs à sa gauche. | and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. |
| 34 | Alors le Roi dira à ceux qui seront à sa droite : "Venez, les bénis de mon Père : prenez possession du royaume qui vous a été préparé dès la création du monde. | Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: |
| 35 | Car j'ai eu faim, et vous m'avez donné à manger; j'ai eu soif, et vous m'avez donné à boire; j'étais étranger, et vous m'avez recueilli; | for I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; |
| 36 | nu, et vous m'avez vêtu; j'ai été malade, et vous m'avez visité; j'étais en prison, et vous êtes venus à moi." | naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me. |
| 37 | Alors les justes lui répondront : "Seigneur, quand vous avons-nous vu avoir faim, et vous avons-nous donné à manger; avoir soif, et vous avons-nous donné à boire ? | Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or athirst, and gave thee drink? |
| 38 | Quand vous avons-nous vu étranger, et vous avons-nous recueilli; nu, et vous avons-nous vêtu ? | And when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? |
| 39 | Quand vous avons-nous vu malade ou en prison, et sommes-nous venus à vous ?" | And when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? |
| 40 | Et le Roi leur répondra : "En vérité, je vous le dis, chaque fois que vous l'avez fait à l'un de ces plus petits de mes frères, c'est à moi que vous l'avez fait." | And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these my brethren, [even] these least, ye did it unto me. |
| 41 | Alors il dira aussi à ceux qui seront à sa gauche : "Allez-vous-en loin de moi, les maudits, au feu éternel, qui a été préparé pour le diable et pour ses anges. | Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels: |
| 42 | Car j'ai eu faim, et vous ne m'avez pas donné à manger; j'ai eu soif, et vous ne m'avez pas donné à boire; | for I was hungry, and ye did not give me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink; |
| 43 | j'étais étranger, et vous ne m'avez pas recueilli; nu, et vous ne m'avez pas vêtu; malade et en prison, et vous ne m'avez pas visité." | I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. |
| 44 | Alors eux aussi lui répondront : "Seigneur, quand vous avons-nous vu avoir faim, ou avoir soif, ou étranger, ou nu, ou malade, ou en prison, et ne vous avons-nous pas assisté ?" | Then shall they also answer, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? |
| 45 | Alors il leur répondra : "En vérité, je vous le dis, chaque fois que vous ne l'avez pas fait à l'un de ces plus petits, c'est à moi que vous ne l'avez pas fait." | Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not unto one of these least, ye did it not unto me. |
| 46 | Et ceux-ci s'en iront au supplice éternel, et les justes à la vie éternelle." | And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life. |
