| 1 | And Jesus went out from the temple, and was going on his way; and his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple. | Ora, mentre Gesù usciva dal tempio e se ne andava, i suoi discepoli gli si accostarono per fargli osservare gli edifici del tempio. |
| 2 | But he answered and said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. | Ma Gesù disse loro: Non vedete voi tutte queste cose? In verità vi dico che non resterà qui pietra su pietra che non sarà diroccata. |
| 3 | And as he sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what [shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? | Poi, mentre egli era seduto sul monte degli Ulivi, i discepoli gli si accostarono in disparte, dicendo: Dicci, quando avverranno queste cose? E quale sarà il segno della tua venuta e della fine dell'età presente?. |
| 4 | And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man lead you astray. | E Gesù, rispondendo, disse loro: Guardate che nessuno vi seduca! |
| 5 | For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and shall lead many astray. | Poiché molti verranno nel mio nome, dicendo: "io sono il Cristo" e ne sedurranno molti. |
| 6 | And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that ye be not troubled: for [these things] must needs come to pass; but the end is not yet. | Allora sentirete parlare di guerre e di rumori di guerre; guardate di non turbarvi, perché bisogna che tutte queste cose avvengano ma non sarà ancora la fine. |
| 7 | For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and earthquakes in divers places. | Infatti si solleverà popolo contro popolo e regno contro regno; vi saranno carestie, pestilenze e terremoti in vari luoghi |
| 8 | But all these things are the beginning of travail. | Ma tutte queste cose saranno soltanto l'inizio delle doglie di parto, |
| 9 | Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all the nations for my name`s sake. | Allora vi sottoporranno a supplizi e vi uccideranno; e sarete odiati da tutte le genti a causa del mio nome. |
| 10 | And then shall many stumble, and shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another. | Allora molti si scandalizzeranno, si tradiranno e si odieranno l'un l'altro. |
| 11 | And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray. | E sorgeranno molti falsi profeti, e ne sedurranno molti. |
| 12 | And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold. | E perché l'iniquità sarà moltiplicata, l'amore di molti si raffredderà; |
| 13 | But he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved. | ma chi avrà perseverato fino alla fine sarà salvato, |
| 14 | And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a testimony unto all the nations; and then shall the end come. | E questo evangelo del regno sarà predicato in tutto il mondo in testimonianza a tutte le genti, e allora verrà la fine. |
| 15 | When therefore ye see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let him that readeth understand), | Quando dunque avrete visto l'abominazione della desolazione predetta dal profeta Daniele, posta nel luogo santo (chi legge intenda), |
| 16 | then let them that are in Judaea flee unto the mountains: | allora coloro che sono nella Giudea fuggano ai monti. |
| 17 | let him that is on the housetop not go down to take out things that are in his house: | Chi si trova sulla terrazza della casa, non scenda a prendere qualcosa di casa sua; |
| 18 | and let him that is in the field not return back to take his cloak. | e chi è nei campi, non torni indietro a prendere il suo mantello. |
| 19 | But woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! | Ma guai alle donne incinte e a quelle che allatteranno in quei giorni! |
| 20 | And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on a sabbath: | E pregate che la vostra fuga non accada d'inverno, né di sabato |
| 21 | for then shall be great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever shall be. | perché allora vi sarà una tribolazione così grande, quale non vi fu mai dal principio del mondo fino ad ora né mai più vi sarà. |
| 22 | And except those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved: but for the elect`s sake those days shall be shortened. | E se quei giorni non fossero abbreviati, nessuna carne si salverebbe; ma a motivo degli eletti quei giorni saranno abbreviati. |
| 23 | Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is the Christ, or, Here; believe [it] not. | Allora se qualcuno vi dice: "Ecco, il Cristo è qui" oppure "è là" non gli credete. |
| 24 | For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. | Perché sorgeranno falsi cristi e falsi profeti, e faranno grandi segni e miracoli tanto da sedurre, se fosse possibile anche gli eletti. |
| 25 | Behold, I have told you beforehand. | Ecco, io ve l'ho predetto. |
| 26 | If therefore they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the wilderness; go not forth: Behold, he is in the inner chambers; believe [it] not. | Se dunque vi dicono: "Ecco è nel deserto" non vi andate: "Ecco è nelle stanze segrete" non ci credete. |
| 27 | For as the lightning cometh forth from the east, and is seen even unto the west; so shall be the coming of the Son of man. | Infatti, come il lampo esce da levante e sfolgora fino a ponente così sarà la venuta del Figlio dell'uomo. |
| 28 | Wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. | Poiché dovunque sarà il carname, li si aduneranno le aquile. |
| 29 | But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: | Ora, subito dopo l'afflizione di quei giorni, il sole si oscurerà e la luna non darà il suo chiarore, le stelle cadranno dal cielo e le potenze dei cieli saranno scrollate. |
| 30 | and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. | E allora apparirà nel cielo il segno del Figlio dell'uomo; e tutte le nazioni della terra faranno cordoglio e vedranno il Figlio dell'uomo venire sulle nuvole del cielo con potenza e grande gloria. |
| 31 | And he shall send forth his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. | Ed egli manderà i suoi angeli con un potente suono di tromba, ed essi raccoglieranno i suoi eletti dai quattro venti, da una estremità dei cieli all'altra. |
| 32 | Now from the fig tree learn her parable: when her branch is now become tender, and putteth forth its leaves, ye know that the summer is nigh; | Ora imparate dal fico questa similitudine: quando ormai i suoi rami s'inteneriscono e le fronde germogliano, sapete che l'estate è vicina. |
| 33 | even so ye also, when ye see all these things, know ye that he is nigh, [even] at the doors. | Così anche voi, quando vedrete tutte queste cose, sappiate che egli è vicino, anzi alle porte. |
| 34 | Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished. | In verità vi dico che questa generazione non passerà, finché tutte queste cose non siano avvenute. |
| 35 | Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. | Il cielo e la terra passeranno, ma le mie parole non passeranno. |
| 36 | But of that day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only. | Quanto poi a quel giorno e a quell'ora, nessuno li conosce, neppure gli angeli dei cieli, ma soltanto il Padre mio. |
| 37 | And as [were] the days of Noah, so shall be the coming of the Son of man. | Ma come fu ai giorni di Noè, così sarà anche alla venuta del Figlio dell'uomo. |
| 38 | For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, | Infatti, come nei giorni che precedettero il diluvio, le persone mangiavano, bevevano, si sposavano ed erano date in moglie, fino a quando Noè entrò nell'arca; |
| 39 | and they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall be the coming of the Son of man. | e non si avvidero di nulla, finché venne il diluvio e li portò via tutti; così sarà pure alla venuta del Figlio dell'uomo. |
| 40 | Then shall two man be in the field; one is taken, and one is left: | Allora due saranno nel campo; uno sarà preso e l'altro lasciato. |
| 41 | two women [shall be] grinding at the mill; one is taken, and one is left. | Due donne macineranno al mulino, una sarà presa e l'altra lasciata. |
| 42 | Watch therefore: for ye know not on what day your Lord cometh. | Vegliate dunque, perché non sapete a che ora il vostro Signore verrà. |
| 43 | But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through. | Ma sappiate questo che, se il padrone di casa sapesse a che ora della notte viene il ladro, veglierebbe e non si lascerebbe forzare la casa. |
| 44 | Therefore be ye also ready; for in an hour that ye think not the Son of man cometh. | Perciò anche voi siate pronti, perché nell'ora che non pensate, il Figlio dell'uomo verrà. |
| 45 | Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath set over his household, to give them their food in due season? | Qual è dunque quel servo fedele e avveduto, che il suo padrone ha preposto ai suoi domestici, per dar loro il cibo a suo tempo? |
| 46 | Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. | Beato quel servo che il suo padrone, quando egli tornerà, troverà facendo così. |
| 47 | Verily I say unto you, that he will set him over all that he hath. | In verità vi dico che gli affiderà l'amministrazione di tutti i suoi beni. |
| 48 | But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord tarrieth; | Ma, se quel malvagio servo dice in cuor suo: "il mio padrone tarda a venire" |
| 49 | and shall begin to beat his fellow-servants, and shall eat and drink with the drunken; | e comincia a battere i suoi conservi, e a mangiare e a bere con gli ubriaconi; |
| 50 | the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expecteth not, and in an hour when he knoweth not, | il padrone di quel servo verrà nel giorno in cui meno se l'aspetta e nell'ora che egli non sa; |
| 51 | and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. | lo punirà duramente e gli riserverà la sorte degli ipocriti. Lì sarà il pianto e lo stridor di denti. |
