| 1 | Lorsqu'ils approchèrent de Jérusalem et furent arrivés à Bethphagé, vers le mont des Oliviers, Jésus envoya deux de ses disciples, leur disant : | And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and came unto Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, |
| 2 | "Allez au village qui est en face de vous; vous trouverez aussitôt une ânesse attachée et un ânon avec elle; détachez-les, et amenez-les-moi. | saying unto them, Go into the village that is over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose [them], and bring [them] unto me. |
| 3 | Et si quelqu'un vous dit quelque chose, vous direz : "Le Seigneur en a besoin, mais il les renverra bientôt." | And if any one say aught unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. |
| 4 | Or ceci arriva afin que s'accomplît la parole du prophète disant : | Now this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, |
| 5 | "Dites à la fille de Sion : Voici que ton roi vient à toi, plein de douceur, monté sur une ânesse et sur un ânon, fils de celle qui porte le joug. | Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, Meek, and riding upon an ass, And upon a colt the foal of an ass. |
| 6 | Les disciples allèrent donc et firent comme Jésus leur avait commandé. | And the disciples went, and did even as Jesus appointed them, |
| 7 | Ils amenèrent l'ânesse et l'ânon, mirent sur eux leurs manteaux, et il s'assit dessus. | and brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their garments; and he sat thereon. |
| 8 | Une foule énorme étendit ses manteaux sur le chemin; d'autres coupaient des branches aux arbres et les étendaient sur le chemin. | And the most part of the multitude spread their garments in the way; and others cut branches from the trees, and spread them in the way. |
| 9 | Et les foules qui allaient devant lui et qui le suivaient, criaient : "Hosanna au fils de David ! Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur ! Hosanna au plus haut des cieux ! " | And the multitudes that went before him, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. |
| 10 | Lorsqu'il entra dans Jérusalem, toute la ville fut en émoi; on disait : "Qui est celui-ci ?" | And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, Who is this? |
| 11 | Et les foules disaient : "C'est le prophète Jésus, de Nazareth en Galilée." | And the multitudes said, This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee. |
| 12 | Jésus entra dans le temple et chassa tous ceux qui vendaient et achetaient dans le temple; il renversa les tables des changeurs et les sièges de ceux qui vendaient les colombes; | And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of he money-changers, and the seats of them that sold the doves; |
| 13 | et il leur dit : "Il est écrit : Ma maison sera appelée maison de prière; mais vous, vous en faites une caverne de voleurs." | and he saith unto them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer: but ye make it a den of robbers. |
| 14 | Des aveugles et des boiteux vinrent à lui dans le temple, et il les guérit. | And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. |
| 15 | Mais les grands prêtres et les scribes, voyant les miracles qu'il venait de faire et les enfants qui criaient dans le temple et disaient : "Hosanna au fils de David ! "s'indignèrent, | But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children that were crying in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were moved with indignation, |
| 16 | et ils lui dirent : "Entendez-vous ce qu'ils disent ? - Oui, leur dit Jésus. N'avez-vous jamais lu : De la bouche des petits enfants et des nourrissons vous avez préparé une louange ?" | and said unto him, Hearest thou what these are saying? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea: did ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou has perfected praise? |
| 17 | Et les ayant laissés là, il sortit de la ville pour (gagner) Béthanie, où il passa la nuit. | And he left them, and went forth out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there. |
| 18 | Le (lendemain) matin, comme il retournait à la ville, il eut faim. | Now in the morning as he returned to the city, he hungered. |
| 19 | Voyant un figuier sur le chemin, il s'en approcha, mais il n'y trouva que des feuilles, et il lui dit : "Que jamais plus aucun fruit ne naisse de toi ! "Et sur le champ le figuier se dessécha. | And seeing a fig tree by the way side, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only; and he saith unto it, Let there be no fruit from thee henceforward for ever. And immediately the fig tree withered away. |
| 20 | A cette vue, les disciples furent étonnés et dirent : "Comment le figuier s'est-il desséché sur le champ ?" | And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How did the fig tree immediately wither away? |
| 21 | Jésus leur répondit : "En vérité, je vous le dis, si vous avez la foi et que vous n'hésitiez point, non seulement vous ferez ce (qui a été fait) au figuier; mais quand même vous diriez à cette montagne : "Ote-toi de là et jette-toi dans la mer, "cela se fera. | And Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do what is done to the fig tree, but even if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea, it shall be done. |
| 22 | Et tout ce que vous demanderez avec foi dans la prière, vous l'obtiendrez." | And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. |
| 23 | Quand il fut venu au temple, comme il enseignait, les grands prêtres et les anciens du peuple s'approchèrent de lui et dirent : "Par quel pouvoir faites-vous cela, et qui vous a donné ce pouvoir ?" | And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? |
| 24 | Jésus leur répondit : "Je vous demanderai, moi aussi, une seule chose; si vous me la dites, je vous dirai, moi aussi, par quelle autorité je fais cela : | And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one question, which if ye tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things. |
| 25 | Le baptême de Jean, d'où était-il ? du ciel, ou des hommes ?"Mais ils faisaient en eux-mêmes cette réflexion : Si nous disons : "Du ciel, "il nous dira : Pourquoi donc n'avez-vous pas cru en lui ? | The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven or from men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why then did ye not believe him? |
| 26 | Et si nous disons : "Des hommes, "nous avons à craindre le peuple, car tout le monde tient Jean pour un prophète." | But if we shall say, From men; we fear the multitude; for all hold John as a prophet. |
| 27 | Ils répondirent à Jésus : "Nous ne savons pas."Et lui leur dit : "Moi non plus, je ne vous dis pas par quel pouvoir je fais cela." | And they answered Jesus, and said, We know not. He also said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. |
| 28 | "Mais que vous en semble ? Un homme avait deux fils. Abordant le premier, il lui dit : "Mon fils, va travailler aujourd'hui dans la vigne." | But what think ye? A man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to-day in the vineyard. |
| 29 | Il répondit : "Je (vais), seigneur, "et il n'alla pas. | And he answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented himself, and went. |
| 30 | Abordant le second, il (lui) dit la même chose. Il répondit : "Je ne veux pas "; mais par la suite, s'étant repenti, il y alla. | And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I [go], sir: and went not. |
| 31 | "Lequel des deux a fait la volonté du père ? - Le dernier, "disent-ils. Jésus leur dit : "Je vous le dis en vérité, les publicains et les courtisanes vous devancent dans le royaume de Dieu. | Which of the two did the will of his father? They say, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. |
| 32 | Car Jean est venu à vous dans la voie de la justice, et vous n'avez pas cru en lui; mais les publicains et les courtisanes ont cru en lui; et vous, qui avez vu, vous ne vous êtes pas repentis même par la suite pour croire en lui. | For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye saw it, did not even repent yourselves afterward, that ye might believe him. |
| 33 | Ecoutez une autre parabole. Il y avait un maître de maison qui planta une vigne, l'entoura d'une clôture, y creusa un pressoir et y bâtit une tour; et l'ayant affermée à des vignerons, il partit en voyage. | Hear another parable: There was a man that was a householder, who planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country. |
| 34 | Quand vint le temps des fruits, il envoya aux vignerons ses serviteurs pour recevoir ses fruits. | And when the season of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, to receive his fruits. |
| 35 | Les vignerons, s'étant saisis de ses serviteurs, battirent l'un, tuèrent l'autre et lapidèrent un troisième. | And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. |
| 36 | Il envoya de nouveau d'autres serviteurs en plus grand nombre que les premiers, et ils les traitèrent de même. | Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them in like manner. |
| 37 | A la fin, il leur envoya son fils, disant : "Ils auront égard à mon fils." | But afterward he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. |
| 38 | Mais quand les vignerons virent le fils, ils se dirent entre eux : "Voici l'héritier; venez, tuons-le, et nous aurons son héritage." | But the husbandmen, when they saw the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and take his inheritance. |
| 39 | Et s'étant saisis de lui, ils le jetèrent hors de la vigne et le tuèrent. | And they took him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him. |
| 40 | Lors donc que reviendra le maître de la vigne, que fera-t-il à ces vignerons ?" | When therefore the lord of the vineyard shall come, what will he do unto those husbandmen? |
| 41 | Ils lui dirent : "Il fera périr misérablement ces misérables, et il affermera la vigne à d'autres vignerons, qui lui en donneront les fruits en leur saison." | They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will let out the vineyard unto other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons. |
| 42 | Jésus leur dit : "N'avez-vous jamais lu dans les Ecritures : La pierre qu'ont rejetée ceux qui bâtissaient est devenue tête d'angle; c'est par le Seigneur qu'elle l'est devenue, et c'est merveille à nos yeux ? | Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner; This was from the Lord, And it is marvelous in our eyes? |
| 43 | C'est pourquoi je vous le dis : le royaume de Dieu vous sera ôté pour être donné à un peuple qui en produira les fruits. | Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken away from you, and shall be given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. |
| 44 | Et celui qui tombera sur cette pierre sera brisé, et celui sur qui elle tombera, elle l'écrasera." | And he that falleth on this stone shall be broken to pieces: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust. |
| 45 | Les grands prêtres et les Pharisiens, ayant entendu ces paraboles, comprirent qu'il parlait d'eux. | And when the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. |
| 46 | Et ils cherchaient à se saisir de lui; mais ils craignirent les foules, car elles le tenaient pour un prophète. | And when they sought to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, because they took him for a prophet. |
