| 1 | And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, | Et six jours après, Jésus prit Pierre, et Jacques, et Jean son frère, et les mena à l'écart sur une haute montagne. |
| 2 | And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. | Et il fut transfiguré en leur présence et son visage resplendit comme le soleil; et ses vêtements devinrent blancs comme la lumière. |
| 3 | And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. | Et voici, ils virent Moïse et Elie, qui s'entretenaient avec lui. |
| 4 | Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. | Alors Pierre prenant la parole, dit à Jésus: Seigneur, il est bon que nous soyons ici; faisons-y, si tu le veux, trois tentes, une pour toi, une pour Moïse, et une pour Elie. |
| 5 | While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. | Et comme il parlait encore, voici une nuée resplendissante qui les couvrit de son ombre; puis voilà une voix qui vint de la nuée, disant: celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé, en qui j'ai pris mon bon plaisir; écoutez-le. |
| 6 | And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. | Ce que les Disciples ayant ouï, ils tombèrent le visage contre terre, et eurent une très grande peur. |
| 7 | And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. | Mais Jésus s'approchant les toucha, en leur disant: levez-vous, et n'ayez point de peur. |
| 8 | And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. | Et eux levant leurs yeux, ne virent personne, que Jésus tout seul. |
| 9 | And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. | Et comme ils descendaient de la montagne, Jésus leur commanda, en disant: ne dites à personne la vision, jusqu'à ce que le Fils de l'homme soit ressuscité des morts. |
| 10 | And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come? | Et ses Disciples l'interrogèrent, en disant: pourquoi donc les Scribes disent-ils qu'il faut qu'Elie vienne premièrement? |
| 11 | And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. | Et Jésus répondant dit: il est vrai qu'Elie viendra premièrement, et qu'il rétablira toutes choses. |
| 12 | But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. | Mais je vous dis qu'Elie est déjà venu, et ils ne l'ont point connu; mais ils lui ont fait tout ce qu'ils ont voulu; ainsi le Fils de l'homme doit souffrir aussi de leur part. |
| 13 | Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist. | Alors les Disciples comprirent que c'était de Jean Baptiste qu'il leur avait parlé. |
| 14 | And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, | Et quand ils furent venus vers les troupes, un homme s'approcha, et se mit à genoux devant lui, |
| 15 | Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. | Et lui dit: Seigneur! aie pitié de mon fils, qui est lunatique, et misérablement affligé; car il tombe souvent dans le feu, et souvent dans l'eau. |
| 16 | And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. | Et je l'ai présenté à tes Disciples; mais ils ne l'ont pu guérir. |
| 17 | Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. | Et Jésus répondant, dit: Ô race incrédule, et perverse, jusques à quand serai-je avec vous? jusques à quand vous supporterai-je? amenez-le-moi ici. |
| 18 | And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. | Et Jésus censura fortement le démon, qui sortit hors de cet enfant, et à l'heure même l'enfant fut guéri. |
| 19 | Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? | Alors les Disciples vinrent en particulier à Jésus, et lui dirent: pourquoi ne l'avons-nous pu jeter dehors? |
| 20 | And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. | Et Jésus leur répondit: c'est à cause de votre incrédulité: car en vérité je vous dis, que si vous aviez de la foi, aussi gros qu'un grain de semence de moutarde, vous diriez à cette montagne: transporte-toi d'ici là, et elle s'y transporterait; et rien ne vous serait impossible. |
| 21 | Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. | Mais cette sorte de démons ne sort que par la prière et par le jeûne. |
| 22 | And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: | Et comme ils se trouvaient en Galilée, Jésus leur dit: il arrivera que le Fils de l'homme sera livré entre les mains des hommes; |
| 23 | And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry. | Et qu'ils le feront mourir, mais le troisième jour il ressuscitera. Et les Disciples en furent fort attristés. |
| 24 | And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? | Et lorsqu'ils furent venus à Capernaüm, ceux qui recevaient les didrachmes s'adressèrent à Pierre et lui dirent: votre Maître ne paye-t-il pas les didrachmes? |
| 25 | He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? | Il dit: oui. Et quand il fut entré dans la maison, Jésus le prévint, en lui disant: qu'est-ce qu'il t'en semble, Simon? Les Rois de la terre, de qui prennent-ils des tributs, ou des impôts? est-ce de leurs enfants, ou des étrangers? |
| 26 | Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. | Pierre dit: des étrangers. Jésus lui répondit: les enfants en sont donc exempts. |
| 27 | Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee. | Mais afin que nous ne les scandalisions point, va-t'en à la mer, et jette l'hameçon, et prends le premier poisson qui montera; et quand tu lui auras ouvert la bouche, tu y trouveras un statère; prends-le, et le leur donne pour moi et pour toi. |
