| 1 | On that day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. | Ora, in quello stesso giorno Gesù, uscito di casa, si pose a sedere presso il mare. |
| 2 | And there were gathered unto him great multitudes, so that he entered into a boat, and sat; and all the multitude stood on the beach. | E grandi folle si radunarono intorno a lui, così che egli, salito su una barca, si pose a sedere; e tutta la folla stava in piedi sulla riva. |
| 3 | And he spake to them many things in parables, saying, Behold, the sower went forth to sow; | Ed egli espose loro molte cose in parabole, dicendo: Ecco, un seminatore uscì a seminare. |
| 4 | and as he sowed, some [seeds] fell by the way side, and the birds came and devoured them: | Mentre seminava, una parte del seme cadde lungo la strada; e gli uccelli vennero e lo mangiarono. |
| 5 | and others fell upon the rocky places, where they had not much earth: and straightway they sprang up, because they had no deepness of earth: | Un'altra cadde in luoghi rocciosi, dove non c'era molta terra, e subito germogliò perché il terreno non era profondo |
| 6 | and when the sun was risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. | ma, levatosi il sole, fu riarso e, perché non aveva radice, si seccò. |
| 7 | And others fell upon the thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked them: | Un'altra cadde tra le spine; e le spine crebbero e la soffocarono. |
| 8 | and others fell upon the good ground, and yielded fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. | E un'altra cadde in buona terra e portò frutto dando il cento, il sessanta, ed il trenta per uno. |
| 9 | He that hath ears, let him hear. | Chi ha orecchi da udire, oda!. |
| 10 | And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? | Allora i discepoli, accostatisi, gli dissero: Perché parli loro in parabole?. |
| 11 | And he answered and said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. | Ed egli, rispondendo, disse loro: Perché a voi è dato di conoscere i misteri del regno dei cieli, ma a loro non è dato. |
| 12 | For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he hath. | Perché a chiunque ha sarà dato, e sarà nell'abbondanza, ma a chiunque non ha, gli sarà tolto anche quello che ha. |
| 13 | Therefore speak I to them in parables; because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. | Perciò io parlo loro in parabole, perché vedendo non vedano, e udendo non odano né comprendano. |
| 14 | And unto them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand; And seeing ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive: | Così si adempie in loro la profezia d'Isaia, che dice: "Voi udirete ma non intenderete; guarderete ma non vedrete". |
| 15 | For this people`s heart is waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes they have closed; Lest haply they should perceive with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And should turn again, And I should heal them. | Perché il cuore di questo popolo è divenuto insensibile, essi sono diventati duri d'orecchi e hanno chiuso gli occhi, perché non vedano con gli occhi e non odano con gli orecchi, e non intendano col cuore e non si convertano, e io li guarisca |
| 16 | But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear. | Ma, beati i vostri occhi perché vedono, e i vostri orecchi perché odono. |
| 17 | For verily I say unto you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which ye see, and saw them not; and to hear the things which ye hear, and heard them not. | Perché in verità vi dico che molti profeti e giusti desiderarono vedere le cose che voi vedete e non le videro, e udire le cose che voi udite e non le udirono! |
| 18 | Hear then ye the parable of the sower. | Voi dunque intendete la parabola del seminatore. |
| 19 | When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, [then] cometh the evil [one], and snatcheth away that which hath been sown in his heart. This is he that was sown by the way side. | Quando qualcuno ode la parola del regno e non la comprende, il maligno viene e porta via ciò che era stato seminato nel suo cuore. Questi è colui che ha ricevuto il seme lungo la strada. |
| 20 | And he that was sown upon the rocky places, this is he that heareth the word, and straightway with joy receiveth it; | E quello che ha ricevuto il seme in luoghi rocciosi, è colui che ode la parola e subito la riceve con gioia |
| 21 | yet hath he not root in himself, but endureth for a while; and when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway he stumbleth. | ma non ha radice in sé, ed è di corta durata; e quando sopraggiunge la tribolazione o persecuzione, a causa della parola, ne è subito scandalizzato. |
| 22 | And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. | E quello che ha ricevuto il seme fra le spine è colui che ode la parola, ma le sollecitudini di questo mondo e l'inganno delle ricchezze soffocano la parola; ed essa diviene infruttuosa. |
| 23 | And he that was sown upon the good ground, this is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; who verily beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. | Quello invece che riceve il seme nella buona terra, è colui che ode la parola, la comprende e porta frutto; e produce uno il cento, un altro il sessanta e un altro il trenta per uno. |
| 24 | Another parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man that sowed good seed in his field: | Egli propose loro un'altra parabola dicendo: Il regno dei cieli è simile a un uomo, che seminò buon seme nel suo campo. |
| 25 | but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares also among the wheat, and went away. | Ma, mentre gli uomini dormivano, venne il suo nemico e seminò della zizzania in mezzo al grano, e se ne andò. |
| 26 | But when the blade sprang up and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. | Quando poi il grano germogliò e mise frutto, apparve anche la zizzania. |
| 27 | And the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst thou not sow good seed in thy field? whence then hath it tares? | E i servi del padrone di casa vennero a lui e gli dissero: "Signore, non hai seminato buon seme nel tuo campo? Come mai, dunque, c'è della zizzania?". |
| 28 | And he said unto them, An enemy hath done this. And the servants say unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? | Ed egli disse loro: "un nemico ha fatto questo". Allora i servi gli dissero: "Vuoi dunque che andiamo e la estirpiamo?" |
| 29 | But he saith, Nay; lest haply while ye gather up the tares, ye root up the wheat with them. | Ma egli disse: "No, per timore che estirpando la zizzania, non sradichiate insieme ad essa anche il grano. |
| 30 | Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn. | Lasciate che crescano entrambi insieme fino alla mietitura; e al tempo della mietitura io dirò ai mietitori: Raccogliete prima la zizzania e legatela in fasci per bruciarla; il grano, invece, riponetelo nel mio granaio. |
| 31 | Another parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: | Egli propose loro un'altra parabola, dicendo: Il regno dei cieli è simile a un granello di senape che un uomo prende e semina nel suo campo. |
| 32 | which indeed is less than all seeds; but when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the heaven come and lodge in the branches thereof. | Esso è certamente il più piccolo di tutti i semi, ma una volta cresciuto è il più grande di tutte le erbe e diventa un albero, tanto che gli uccelli del cielo vengono a ripararsi tra i suoi rami. |
| 33 | Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till it was all leavened. | Egli disse loro un'altra parabola: Il regno dei cieli è simile al lievito, che una donna prende ed impasta con tre misure di farina finché tutta la pasta sia lievitata. |
| 34 | All these things spake Jesus in parables unto the multitudes; and without a parable spake he nothing unto them: | Gesù disse alle folle tutte queste cose in parabole, e parlava loro solo in parabole, |
| 35 | that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world. | affinché si adempisse ciò che fu detto dal profeta: Io aprirò la mia bocca in parabole e rivelerò cose nascoste fin dalla fondazione del mondo. |
| 36 | Then he left the multitudes, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Explain unto us the parable of the tares of the field. | Allora Gesù, licenziate le folle, se ne ritornò a casa e i suoi discepoli gli si accostarono, dicendo: Spiegaci la parabola della zizzania a nel campo. |
| 37 | And he answered and said, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; | Ed egli, rispondendo disse loro: Colui che semina il buon seme è il Figlio dell'uomo. |
| 38 | and the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil [one]; | Il campo è il mondo, il buon seme sono i figli del regno, e la zizzania sono i figli del maligno, |
| 39 | and the enemy that sowed them is the devil: and the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are angels. | e il nemico che l'ha seminata è il diavolo, mentre la mietitura è la fine del mondo, e i mietitori sono gli angeli. |
| 40 | As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire; so shall it be in the end of the world. | Come dunque si raccoglie la zizzania e si brucia nel fuoco, così avverrà alla fine del mondo. |
| 41 | The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that cause stumbling, and them that do iniquity, | Il Figlio dell'uomo manderà i suoi angeli, ed essi raccoglieranno dal suo regno tutti gli scandali e gli operatori d'iniquità, |
| 42 | and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. | e li getteranno nella fornace del fuoco. Lì sarà pianto e stridor di denti. |
| 43 | Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear. | Allora i giusti risplenderanno come Il sole nel regno del Padre loro. Chi ha orecchi da udire, oda!. |
| 44 | The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in the field; which a man found, and hid; and in his joy he goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. | Di nuovo, il regno dei cieli è simile ad un tesoro nascosto in un campo, che un uomo, avendolo trovato. nasconde; e, per la gioia che ne ha, va, vende tutto ciò che ha e compera quel campo. |
| 45 | Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a merchant seeking goodly pearls: | Ancora, il regno dei cieli è simile ad un mercante che va in cerca di belle perle. |
| 46 | and having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it. | E, trovata una perla di grande valore, va, vende tutto ciò che ha, e la compera. |
| 47 | Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: | Il regno dei cieli è pure simile ad una rete gettata in mare, che raccoglie ogni sorta di cose. |
| 48 | which, when it was filled, they drew up on the beach; and they sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but the bad they cast away. | Quando è piena, i pescatori la tirano a riva e, postisi a sedere, raccolgono ciò che è buono nelle ceste, mentre gettano via quello non buono. |
| 49 | So shall it be in the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the righteous, | Così avverrà alla fine del mondo, gli angeli verranno e separeranno i malvagi dai giusti |
| 50 | and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. | e li getteranno nella fornace del fuoco. Lì sarà pianto e stridor di denti. |
| 51 | Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea. | Gesù disse loro: Avete capito tutte queste cose?. Essi gli dissero: Sì Signore. |
| 52 | And he said unto them, Therefore every scribe who hath been made a disciple to the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old. | Ed egli disse loro: Perciò ogni scriba, ammaestrato per il regno dei cieli è simile a un padrone di casa che trae fuori dal suo tesoro cose nuove e vecchie. |
| 53 | And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence. | Ora, quando Gesù ebbe finito queste parabole, se ne andò di là. |
| 54 | And coming into his own country he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? | E, venuto nella sua patria, li ammaestrava nella loro sinagoga, sicché essi stupivano e dicevano: Da dove ha ricevuto costui questa sapienza e queste potenti operazioni? |
| 55 | Is not this the carpenter`s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas? | Non è costui il figlio del falegname? Sua madre non si chiama Maria e i suoi fratelli Giacomo, Iose, Simone e Giuda? |
| 56 | And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? | E le sue sorelle non sono tutte fra noi? Da dove ha egli dunque ricevuto queste cose?. |
| 57 | And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and in his own house. | E si scandalizzavano di lui. Ma Gesù disse loro: Nessun profeta è disprezzato, se non nella sua patria e in casa sua. |
| 58 | And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. | Ed egli non fece lì molte opere potenti a causa della loro incredulità. |
