| 1 | At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat. | En ce temps-là, Jésus traversait des moissons un jour de sabbat. Ses disciples, ayant faim, se mirent à arracher des épis et à manger. |
| 2 | But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day. | Les Pharisiens, voyant cela, lui dirent : "Vos disciples font une chose qu'il n'est pas permis de faire un jour de sabbat." |
| 3 | But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him; | Mais il leur dit : "N'avez-vous pas lu ce que fit David, lorsqu'il eut faim, ainsi que ceux qui étaient avec lui : |
| 4 | How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? | comme il entra dans la maison de Dieu et mangea les pains de proposition, qu'il ne lui était pas permis de manger, non plus qu'à ceux qui étaient avec lui, mais aux prêtres seuls ? |
| 5 | Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? | Ou n'avez-vous pas lu dans la Loi que, le jour du sabbat, les prêtes, dans le temple violent le sabbat sans se rentre coupables ? |
| 6 | But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. | Or, je vous dis qu'il y a ici plus grand que le temple. |
| 7 | But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. | Si vous aviez compris ce que veut dire : Je veux la miséricorde et non le sacrifice, vous n'auriez pas condamné des innocents. |
| 8 | For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day. | En effet le Fils de l'homme est maître du sabbat." |
| 9 | And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue: | Et, ayant quitté ce lieu, il s'en vint à leur synagogue. |
| 10 | And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. | Or, il se trouvait (là) un homme qui avait une main sèche, et ils lui demandèrent : "Est-il permis de guérir, le jour du sabbat ?"pour pouvoir l'accuser. |
| 11 | And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? | Il leur dit : "Quel sera celui d'entre vous, qui n'ayant qu'une brebis, si elle tombe dans une fosse un jour de sabbat, ne la prendra pour la retirer ? |
| 12 | How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. | Or, combien un homme vaut plus qu'une brebis ! Il est donc permis de faire le bien le jour du sabbat." |
| 13 | Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other. | Alors il dit à l'homme : "Etends la main."Il l'étendit, et elle redevint saine comme l'autre. |
| 14 | Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. | Les Pharisiens, étant sortis, prirent une délibération contre lui sur les moyens de le perdre. |
| 15 | But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; | Mais Jésus en ayant eu connaissance, s'éloigna de ces lieux. Et des [foules] nombreuses le suivirent, et il les guérit tous. |
| 16 | And charged them that they should not make him known: | Et il leur commanda avec force de ne pas le faire connaître. |
| 17 | That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, | (C'était) afin que s'accomplît la parole du prophète Isaïe : |
| 18 | Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles. | Voici mon serviteur que j'ai choisi, mon bien-aimé en qui mon âme se complaît. Je ferai reposer sur lui mon Esprit, et il annoncera le jugement aux nations. |
| 19 | He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. | Il ne disputera point, il ne criera point, et nul n'entendra sa voix sur les places publiques. |
| 20 | A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. | Il ne brisera point le roseau froissé et n'éteindra point la mèche qui fume encore, jusqu'à ce qu'il ait fait triompher le jugement; |
| 21 | And in his name shall the Gentiles trust. | et en son nom les nations mettront leur espérance. |
| 22 | Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. | On lui amena alors un possédé aveugle et muet, et il le guérit, de sorte que le meut parlait et voyait. |
| 23 | And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? | Et toutes les foules, saisies d'étonnement, disaient : "N'est-ce pas là le fils de David ?" |
| 24 | But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. | Mais les Pharisiens, entendant cela, dirent : "Il ne chasse les démons que par Béelzéboul, chef des démons." |
| 25 | And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: | Jésus, connaissant leurs pensées, leur dit : "Tout royaume divisé contre lui-même va à la ruine, et toute ville ou maison divisée contre elle-même ne pourra subsister. |
| 26 | And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? | Si Satan chasse Satan, il est divisé contre lui-même : comment donc son royaume pourra-t-il subsister ? |
| 27 | And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. | Et si moi je chasse les démons par Béelzéboul, par qui vos fils les chassent-ils ? C'est pourquoi ils seront eux-mêmes vos juges. |
| 28 | But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. | Mais si c'est par l'Esprit de Dieu que je chasse les démons, le royaume de Dieu est donc arrivé à vous. |
| 29 | Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. | Ou bien, comment quelqu'un peut-il entrer dans la maison de l'homme fort et enlever ses meubles, sans avoir auparavant lié l'homme fort ? Alors seulement il pillera sa maison. |
| 30 | He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. | Qui n'est pas avec moi est contre moi, et qui n'amasse pas avec moi disperse. |
| 31 | Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. | C'est pourquoi je vous dis : Tout péché, tout blasphème sera remis aux hommes, mais le blasphème contre l'Esprit ne sera pas remis. |
| 32 | And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. | Et pour qui aura parlé contre le Fils de l'homme, il y aura rémission; mais pour qui aura parlé contre l'Esprit-Saint, il n'y aura de rémission ni dans ce siècle, ni dans le siècle à venir. |
| 33 | Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. | Ou admettez que l'arbre est bon, et que son fruit est bon; ou admettez que l'arbre est mauvais, et que son fruit est mauvais : car c'est au fruit qu'on connaît l'arbre. |
| 34 | O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. | Race de vipères, comment pourriez-vous dire de bonnes paroles, étant mauvais ? Car la bouche parle de l'abondance du coeur. |
| 35 | A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. | L'homme bon tire de son trésor de bonté des choses bonnes, et l'homme mauvais, de son trésor de malice, tire des choses mauvaises. |
| 36 | But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. | Je vous le dis : au jour du jugement, les hommes rendront compte de toute parole vaine qu'ils auront dite. |
| 37 | For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. | C'est en effet d'après tes paroles que tu seras déclaré juste, et d'après tes paroles que tu seras condamné." |
| 38 | Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. | Alors quelques-uns des scribes et des Pharisiens prirent la parole et dirent : "Maître, nous voudrions voir un signe de vous." |
| 39 | But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: | Il leur répondit : "Une génération mauvaise et adultère réclame un signe : il ne lui sera donné d'autre signe que le signe du prophète Jonas. |
| 40 | For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. | Car de même que Jonas fut trois jours et trois nuits dans le ventre du poisson, ainsi le Fils de l'homme sera dans le sein de la terre trois jours et trois nuits. |
| 41 | The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. | Les hommes de Ninive se dresseront, au (jour du) jugement, avec cette génération et la feront condamner, car ils ont fait pénitence à la prédication de Jonas, et il y a ici plus que Jonas. |
| 42 | The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. | La reine du Midi se lèvera au (jour du) jugement, avec cette génération et la fera condamner, car elle est venue des extrémités de la terre pour entendre la sagesse de Salomon, et il y a ici plus que Salomon. |
| 43 | When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. | Lorsque l'esprit impur est sorti d'un homme, il va par des lieux arides, cherchant du repos, et il n'en trouve point. |
| 44 | Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. | Alors il dit : "Je retournerai dans ma maison, d'où je suis sorti."Et revenu, il la trouve libre, nettoyée et ornée. |
| 45 | Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. | Alors il s'en va prendre avec lui sept autres esprits plus mauvais que lui, et, étant entrés, ils y fixent leur demeure, et le dernier état de cet homme devient pire que le premier. Ainsi en sera-t-il pour cette génération mauvaise." |
| 46 | While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. | Comme il parlait encore aux foules, voici que sa mère et ses frères se tenaient dehors, cherchant à lui parler. |
| 47 | Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. | Quelqu'un lui dit : "Voici votre mère et vos frères qui se tiennent dehors, et ils cherchent à vous parler." |
| 48 | But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? | Il répondit à l'homme qui lui disait cela : "Qui est ma mère et qui sont mes frères ?" |
| 49 | And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! | Et étendant la main vers ses disciples, il dit : "Voici ma mère et mes frères. |
| 50 | For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. | Car quiconque fait la volonté de mon Père qui est dans les cieux, celui-là est pour moi frère, soeur et mère." |
