| 3 | Cet homme faisait sa demeure dans les sépulcres, et personne ne le pouvait tenir lié, non pas même avec des chaînes. | who had his dwelling in the tombs: and no man could any more bind him, no, not with a chain; | il quale aveva la sua dimora fra i sepolcri, e nessuno riusciva a tenerlo legato neanche con catene. |
| 4 | Parce que souvent, quand il avait été lié de fers et de chaînes, il avait rompu les chaînes, et mis les fers en pièces, et personne ne le pouvait dompter. | because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been rent asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: and no man had strength to tame him. | Infatti più volte era stato legato con ceppi e con catene; ma egli aveva sempre spezzato le catene e infranto i ceppi; e nessuno era riuscito a domarlo. |
| 5 | Et il était continuellement de nuit et de jour dans les montagnes, et dans les sépulcres, criant, et se frappant avec des pierres. | And always, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself with stones. | Continuamente, notte e giorno, fra i sepolcri e su per i monti, andava gridando e picchiandosi con pietre. |
| 6 | Mais quand il eut vu Jésus de loin, il courut et se prosterna devant lui. | And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshipped him; | Ora, quando vide Gesù da lontano, egli accorse e gli si prostrò davanti, |
| 7 | Et criant à haute voix, il dit: qu'y a-t-il entre nous, Jésus, Fils du Dieu souverain? Je te conjure de la part de Dieu, de ne me tourmenter point. | and crying out with a loud voice, he saith, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, torment me not. | e dando un gran grido, disse: Che c'è fra me e te, Gesù Figlio del Dio altissimo? Io ti scongiuro, in nome di Dio, di non tormentarmi!. |
| 8 | Car Jésus lui disait: sors de cet homme, esprit immonde. | For he said unto him, Come forth, thou unclean spirit, out of the man. | Perché egli gli diceva: Spirito immondo, esci da quest'uomo!. |
| 9 | Alors il lui demanda: comment te nommes-tu? Et il répondit, et dit: J'ai nom Légion; parce que nous sommes plusieurs. | And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith unto him, My name is Legion; for we are many. | Poi Gesù gli domandò: Qual è il tuo nome?. E quello rispose, dicendo: Io mi chiamo Legione, perché siamo molti. |
| 10 | Et il le priait instamment qu'il ne les envoyât point hors de cette contrée. | And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. | E lo supplicava con insistenza perché non li mandasse fuori da quella regione. |
| 11 | Or il y avait là vers les montagnes un grand troupeau de pourceaux qui paissait. | Now there was there on the mountain side a great herd of swine feeding. | Or vi era là, sul pendio del monte, un grande branco di porci che pascolava. |
| 12 | Et tous ces démons le priaient, en disant: Envoie-nous dans les pourceaux, afin que nous entrions en eux; et aussitôt Jésus le leur permit. | And they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. | Allora tutti i demoni lo pregarono, dicendo: Mandaci nei porci, perché entriamo in essi. |
| 13 | Alors ces esprits immondes étant sortis, entrèrent dans les pourceaux, et le troupeau, qui était d'environ deux mille, se jeta du haut en bas dans la mer; et ils furent étouffés dans la mer. | And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered into the swine: and the herd rushed down the steep into the sea, [in number] about two thousand; and they were drowned in the sea. | E Gesù prontamente lo permise loro; allora gli spiriti immondi, usciti, entrarono nei porci e il branco si precipitò giù per il dirupo nel mare, erano circa duemila, e affogarono nel mare. |
| 14 | Et ceux qui paissaient les pourceaux s'enfuirent, et en portèrent les nouvelles dans la ville, et dans les villages. | And they that fed them fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they came to see what it was that had come to pass. | Allora quelli che custodivano i porci fuggirono e diffusero la notizia in città e per le campagne; e la gente venne a vedere ciò che era accaduto. |
| 15 | Et ceux de la ville sortirent pour voir ce qui était arrivé, et vinrent à Jésus; et ils virent le démoniaque, celui qui avait eu la légion, assis et vêtu, et en bon sens; et ils furent saisis de crainte. | And they come to Jesus, and behold him that was possessed with demons sitting, clothed and in his right mind, [even] him that had the legion: and they were afraid. | Giunti che furono da Gesù, videro l'indemoniato seduto, vestito e sano di mente, lui che era stato posseduto dalla Legione, ed ebbero paura. |
| 16 | Et ceux qui avaient vu le miracle, leur racontèrent ce qui était arrivé au démoniaque, et aux pourceaux. | And they that saw it declared unto them how it befell him that was possessed with demons, and concerning the swine. | E quelli che avevano visto l'accaduto, raccontarono loro ciò che era successo all'indemoniato e il fatto dei porci. |
| 17 | Alors ils se mirent à le prier qu'il se retirât de leurs quartiers. | And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders. | Allora essi cominciarono a pregarlo che se ne andasse dal loro territorio. |
| 18 | Et quand il fut entré dans la nacelle, celui qui avait été démoniaque le pria de permettre qu'il fût avec lui. | And as he was entering into the boat, he that had been possessed with demons besought him that he might be with him. | Mentre egli saliva sulla barca, colui che era stato indemoniato lo pregava di poter rimanere con lui |
| 19 | Mais Jésus ne le lui permit point, et lui dit: va-t'en à ta maison vers les tiens, et raconte-leur les grandes choses que le Seigneur t'a faites, et comment il a eu pitié de toi. | And he suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go to thy house unto thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and [how] he had mercy on thee. | ma Gesù non glielo permise; gli disse invece: Va' a casa tua dai tuoi e racconta loro quali grandi cose il Signore ti ha fatto e come ha avuto pietà di te. |
| 20 | Il s'en alla donc, et se mit à publier en Décapolis les grandes choses que Jésus lui avait faites; et tous s'en étonnaient. | And he went his way, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men marvelled. | Egli se ne andò e cominciò a predicare per la Decapoli tutto quanto Gesù gli aveva fatto; tutti restavano meravigliati. |
| 21 | Et quand Jésus fut repassé à l'autre rivage dans une nacelle, de grandes troupes s'assemblèrent vers lui, et il était près de la mer. | And when Jesus had crossed over again in the boat unto the other side, a great multitude was gathered unto him; and he was by the sea. | E, quando Gesù passò nuovamente all'altra riva in barca, una grande folla si radunò intorno a lui; ed egli se ne stava in riva al mare. |
| 22 | Et voici un des Principaux de la Synagogue nommé Jaïrus, vint à lui, et le voyant, il se jeta à ses pieds. | And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and seeing him, he falleth at his feet, | Allora venne uno dei capi della sinagoga, di nome Iairo, il quale vedutolo, gli si gettò ai piedi, |
| 23 | Et il le priait instamment, en disant: ma petite fille est à l'extrémité; je te prie de venir, et de lui imposer les mains, afin qu'elle soit guérie, et qu'elle vive. | and beseecheth him much, saying, My little daughter is at the point of death: [I pray thee], that thou come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be made whole, and live. | e lo pregò con molta insistenza, dicendo: La mia figliola è agli estremi; vieni a imporle le mani, affinché sia guarita e viva. |
| 24 | Jésus s'en alla donc avec lui; et de grandes troupes de gens le suivaient et le pressaient. | And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and they thronged him. | Ed egli se ne andò con lui. Una grande folla lo seguiva e gli si stringeva intorno. |
| 25 | Or une femme qui avait une perte de sang depuis douze ans, | And a woman, who had an issue of blood twelve years, | Ora una donna che aveva un flusso di sangue già da dodici anni |
| 26 | Et qui avait beaucoup souffert entre les mains de plusieurs médecins, et avait dépensé tout son bien, sans avoir rien profité, mais plutôt était allée en empirant; | and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, | e aveva molto sofferto da parte di parecchi medici, spendendo tutti i suoi averi senza alcun giovamento, anzi piuttosto peggiorando, |
| 27 | Ayant ouï parler de Jésus, vint dans la foule par derrière, et toucha son vêtement. | having heard the things concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment. | avendo sentito parlare di Gesù, venne tra la folla alle sue spalle e toccò il suo vestito, |
| 28 | Car elle disait: si je touche seulement ses vêtements, je serai guérie. | For she said, If I touch but his garments, I shall be made whole. | poiché diceva: Se solo tocco le sue vesti sarò guarita. |
| 29 | Et dans ce moment la perte de sang s'arrêta; et elle sentit en son corps qu'elle était guérie de son fléau. | And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her plague. | E immediatamente il flusso del suo sangue si stagnò, ed ella sentì nel suo corpo di essere guarita da quel male. |
| 30 | Et aussitôt Jésus reconnaissant en soi-même la vertu qui était sortie de lui, se retourna vers la foule, en disant: qui est-ce qui a touché mes vêtements? | And straightway Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power [proceeding] from him had gone forth, turned him about in the crowd, and said, Who touched my garments? | Ma subito Gesù, avvertendo in se stesso che una potenza era uscita da lui, voltatosi nella folla, disse: Chi mi ha toccato i vestiti?. |
| 31 | Et ses Disciples lui dirent: tu vois que la foule te presse, et tu dis: qui est-ce qui m'a touché? | And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? | E i suoi discepoli gli dissero: Non vedi che la folla ti stringe da ogni parte e tu dici: "chi mi ha toccato?". |
| 32 | Mais il regardait tout autour pour voir celle qui avait fait cela. | And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. | Ma egli guardava intorno per vedere colei che aveva fatto ciò. |
| 33 | Alors la femme saisie de crainte et toute tremblante, sachant ce qui avait été fait en sa personne, vint et se jeta à ses pieds, et lui déclara toute la vérité. | But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. | Allora la donna, paurosa e tremante, sapendo quanto era avvenuto in lei, venne e gli si gettò ai piedi e gli disse tutta la verità. |
| 34 | Et il lui dit: ma fille! ta foi t'a sauvée; va-t'en en paix, et sois guérie de ton fléau. | And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. | Ma egli le disse: Figliola, la tua fede ti ha guarita; va' in pace e sii guarita dal tuo male. |
| 35 | Comme il parlait encore, il vint des gens de chez le Principal de la Synagogue, qui lui dirent: ta fille est morte, pourquoi donnes-tu encore de la peine au Maître? | While he yet spake, they come from the ruler of the synagogue`s [house] saying, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Teacher any further? | Mentre egli stava ancora parlando, vennero alcuni dalla casa del capo della sinagoga, dicendo: La tua figlia è morta; perché importuni ancora il Maestro?. |
| 36 | Mais Jésus ayant aussitôt entendu ce qu'on disait, dit au Principal de la Synagogue: ne crains point; crois seulement. | But Jesus, not heeding the word spoken, saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not, only believe. | Ma Gesù, appena intese ciò che si diceva, disse al capo della sinagoga: Non temere, credi solamente!. |
| 37 | Et il ne permit à personne de le suivre, sinon à Pierre, et à Jacques, et à Jean, le frère de Jacques. | And he suffered no man to follow with him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. | E non permise che alcuno lo seguisse, all'infuori di Pietro, Giacomo e Giovanni, fratello di Giacomo. |
| 38 | Puis il vint à la maison du Principal de la Synagogue, et il vit le tumulte, c'est-à-dire, ceux qui pleuraient et qui jetaient de grands cris. | And they come to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he beholdeth a tumult, and [many] weeping and wailing greatly. | E, giunto a casa del capo della sinagoga, vide un gran trambusto e gente che piangeva e urlava forte. |
| 39 | Et étant entré, il leur dit: pourquoi faites-vous tout ce bruit, et pourquoi pleurez-vous? la petite fille n'est pas morte, mais elle dort. | And when he was entered in, he saith unto them, Why make ye a tumult, and weep? the child is not dead, but sleepeth. | Ed entrato, disse loro: Perché fate tanto chiasso e piangete? La fanciulla non è morta, ma dorme, |
| 40 | Et ils se riaient de lui. Mais Jésus les ayant tous fait sortir, prit le père et la mère de la petite fille, et ceux qui étaient avec lui, et entra là où la petite fille était couchée. | And they laughed him to scorn. But he, having put them all forth, taketh the father of the child and her mother and them that were with him, and goeth in where the child was. | E quelli lo deridevano, ma egli, messili tutti fuori, prese con sé il padre, la madre della fanciulla e coloro che erano con lui, ed entrò là dove giaceva la fanciulla. |
| 41 | Et ayant pris la main de l'enfant, il lui dit: Talitha cumi, qui étant expliqué, veut dire: petite fille (je te dis) lève-toi. | And taking the child by the hand, he saith unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, Arise. | Quindi presa la fanciulla per mano, le disse: Talitha cumi; che tradotto vuol dire: Fanciulla, ti dico: Alzati!. |
| 42 | Et d'abord la petite fille se leva, et marcha; car elle était âgée de douze ans; et ils en furent dans un grand étonnement. | And straightway the damsel rose up, and walked; for she was twelve years old. And they were amazed straightway with a great amazement. | E subito la fanciulla si alzò e si mise a camminare; ella aveva infatti dodici anni. Ed essi furono presi da un grande stupore. |
| 43 | Et il leur commanda fort expressément que personne ne le sût; puis il dit qu'on lui donnât à manger. | And he charged them much that no man should know this: and he commanded that [something] should be given her to eat. | Ma egli comandò loro con fermezza che nessuno lo venisse a sapere; poi ordinò che si desse da mangiare alla fanciulla. |
