| 1 | Une autre fois, il se mit à enseigner au bord de la mer. Une si grande foule s'assembla auprès de lui qu'il monta dans une barque, où il s'assit sur la mer, tandis que toute la foule était à terre, vers la mer. | And again he began to teach by the sea side. And there is gathered unto him a very great multitude, so that he entered into a boat, and sat in the sea; and all the multitude were by the sea on the land. |
| 2 | Et il leur enseignait beaucoup de choses en paraboles, et il leur disait dans son enseignement : | And he taught them many things in parables, and said unto them in his teaching, |
| 3 | "Ecoutez ! Voici que le semeur sortit pour semer. | Hearken: Behold, the sower went forth to sow: |
| 4 | Or, pendant qu'il semait, du (grain) tomba le long du chemin, et les oiseaux vinrent et le mangèrent. | and it came to pass, as he sowed, some [seed] fell by the way side, and the birds came and devoured it. |
| 5 | D'autre tomba sur un endroit pierreux, où il n'avait pas beaucoup de terre, et il leva aussitôt, parce que la terre était peu profonde; | And other fell on the rocky [ground], where it had not much earth; and straightway it sprang up, because it had no deepness of earth: |
| 6 | mais, quand le soleil fut levé, il fut brûlé, et parce qu'il n'avait pas de racine, il se dessécha. | and when the sun was risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. |
| 7 | D'autre tomba parmi les épines, et les épines montèrent et l'étouffèrent, et il ne donna point de fruit. | And other fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. |
| 8 | Et d'autres tombèrent dans la bonne terre, montèrent et crûrent, donnèrent du fruit et rapportèrent l'un trente, un autre soixante, un autre cent." | And others fell into the good ground, and yielded fruit, growing up and increasing; and brought forth, thirtyfold, and sixtyfold, and a hundredfold. |
| 9 | et il disait : "Qui a des oreilles pour entendre entende ! " | And he said, Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. |
| 10 | Lorsqu'il se trouva seul, ceux de son entourage, avec les Douze, l'interrogèrent sur les paraboles. | And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parables. |
| 11 | Il leur dit : "A vous a été donné le mystère du royaume de Dieu; mais pour eux, qui sont dehors, tout vient en paraboles, | And he said unto them, Unto you is given the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all things are done in parables: |
| 12 | pour que regardant bien ils ne voient point, qu'écoutant bien ils ne comprennent point, de peur qu'ils ne se convertissent et qu'il ne leur soit pardonné." | that seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest haply they should turn again, and it should be forgiven them. |
| 13 | Il ajouta : "Vous ne comprenez pas cette parabole ? Alors comment comprendrez-vous toutes les paraboles ? | And he saith unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how shall ye know all the parables? |
| 14 | Le semeur sème la parole. | The sower soweth the word. |
| 15 | Les uns sont ceux qui sont le long du chemin, où la parole est semée : ils ne l'ont pas plus tôt entendue que Satan vient et enlève la parole semée en eux. | And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; and when they have heard, straightway cometh Satan, and taketh away the word which hath been sown in them. |
| 16 | D'autres sont, pareillement, ceux qui sont semés sur les endroits pierreux : en entendant la parole, ils la reçoivent aussitôt avec joie; | And these in like manner are they that are sown upon the rocky [places], who, when they have heard the word, straightway receive it with joy; |
| 17 | mais il n'y a pas en eux de racines et ils sont éphémères : dès que survient la tribulation ou la persécution à cause de la parole, ils trébuchent aussitôt. | and they have no root in themselves, but endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway they stumble. |
| 18 | D'autres sont ceux qui sont semés dans les épines : ce sont ceux qui ont entendu la parole; | And others are they that are sown among the thorns; these are they that have heard the word, |
| 19 | mais les sollicitudes du siècle, et la séduction des richesses, et les convoitises d'autre sorte s'introduisent et étouffent la parole, et elle devient stérile. | and the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. |
| 20 | Et d'autres sont ceux qui ont été semés dans la bonne terre : ils entendent la parole et la reçoivent, et ils portent du fruit, trente, soixante, cent (pour un)." | And those are they that were sown upon the good ground; such as hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, thirtyfold, and sixtyfold, and a hundredfold. |
| 21 | Et il leur disait : "Apporte-t-on la lampe pour la mettre sous le boisseau ou sous le lit ? N'est-ce pas pour la mettre sur le chandelier ? | And he said unto them, Is the lamp brought to be put under the bushel, or under the bed, [and] not to be put on the stand? |
| 22 | Car il n'y a rien de caché qui ne doive être manifesté, et rien n'est demeuré secret qui ne doive venir au jour. | For there is nothing hid, save that it should be manifested; neither was [anything] made secret, but that it should come to light. |
| 23 | Si quelqu'un a des oreilles pour entendre, qu'il entende ! " | If any man hath ears to hear, let him hear. |
| 24 | Et il leur disait : "Prenez garde à ce que vous entendez. Avec la mesure avec laquelle vous aurez mesuré, on vous mesurera, et on y ajoutera encore pour vous qui entendez. | And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete it shall be measured unto you; and more shall be given unto you. |
| 25 | Car on donnera à celui qui a, et à celui qui n'a pas, même ce qu'il a lui sera enlevé." | For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he hath. |
| 26 | Et il disait : "Il en est du royaume de Dieu comme d'un homme qui jette en terre de la semence. | And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed upon the earth; |
| 27 | Qu'il dorme et qu'il soit debout, de nuit et de jour, la semence germe et croît, sans qu'il le sache. | and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should spring up and grow, he knoweth not how. |
| 28 | D'elle-même la terre produit du fruit : d'abord une herbe, puis un épi, puis du blé plein l'épi. | The earth beareth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. |
| 29 | Et quand le fruit le permet, aussitôt il y met la faucille, parce que la moisson est arrivée." | But when the fruit is ripe, straightway he putteth forth the sickle, because the harvest is come. |
| 30 | Et il disait : "A quoi comparerons-nous le royaume de Dieu ? ou en quelle parabole le mettrons-nous ? | And he said, How shall we liken the kingdom of God? or in what parable shall we set it forth? |
| 31 | Il est semblable à un grain de sénevé qui, lorsqu'on le sème en terre, est la plus petite de toutes les semences qu'il y ait sur la terre; | It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown upon the earth, though it be less than all the seeds that are upon the earth, |
| 32 | et lorsqu'on l'a semé, il monte et devient plus grand que toutes les plantes potagères, et il pousse de grandes branches, en sorte que les oiseaux du ciel peuvent nicher sous son ombre." | yet when it is sown, groweth up, and becometh greater than all the herbs, and putteth out great branches; so that the birds of the heaven can lodge under the shadow thereof. |
| 33 | C'est avec de nombreuses paraboles de ce genre qu'il leur donnait l'enseignement selon qu'ils étaient capables de l'entendre; | And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it; |
| 34 | et il ne leur parlait pas sans paraboles, mais, en particulier, il expliquait tout à ses disciples. | and without a parable spake he not unto them: but privately to his own disciples he expounded all things. |
| 35 | Ce jour-là, le soir venu, il leur dit : "Passons à l'autre rive." | And on that day, when even was come, he saith unto them, Let us go over unto the other side. |
| 36 | Ayant laissé la foule, ils l'emmenèrent tel qu'il était dans la barque; et d'autres barques l'accompagnaient. | And leaving the multitude, they take him with them, even as he was, in the boat. And other boats were with him. |
| 37 | Or il se fit un grand tourbillon de vent, et les vagues se jetaient dans la barque, en sorte que déjà la barque se remplissait. | And there ariseth a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the boat, insomuch that the boat was now filling. |
| 38 | Lui était à la poupe, dormant la tête sur le coussin. Ils le réveillent et lui disent : "Maître, n'avez-vous point de souci que nous périssions ?" | And he himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion: and they awake him, and say unto him, Teacher, carest thou not that we perish? |
| 39 | S'étant réveillé, il commanda avec force au vent et dit à la mer : Tais-toi ! Silence ! Et le vent tomba, et il se fit un grand calme. | And he awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. |
| 40 | Et il leur dit : "Pourquoi êtes-vous ainsi peureux ? Comment n'avez-vous pas de foi ?" | And he said unto them, Why are ye fearful? have ye not yet faith? |
| 41 | Et ils furent saisis d'une grande crainte, et ils se disaient les uns aux autres : "Qui donc est celui-ci, que même le vent et la mer lui obéissent ?" | And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? |
