| 1 | Comme ils approchaient de Jérusalem, vers Betphagé et Béthanie, près du mont des Oliviers, Jésus envoya deux de ses disciples, | And when they draw nigh unto Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth two of his disciples, |
| 2 | leur disant : "Allez au village qui est en face vous; aussitôt que vous y serez entrés, vous trouverez un ânon attaché, sur lequel aucun homme ne s'est encore assis : détachez-le et amenez-le. | and saith unto them, Go your way into the village that is over against you: and straightway as ye enter into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon no man ever yet sat; loose him, and bring him. |
| 3 | Et si quelqu'un vous dit : Que faites-vous là ?"dites : "Le Seigneur en a besoin, mais bientôt, il le renverra ici." | And if any one say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye, The Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him back hither. |
| 4 | Ils s'en allèrent et trouvèrent un ânon attaché à une porte, au dehors, au carrefour, et ils le détachèrent. | And they went away, and found a colt tied at the door without in the open street; and they loose him. |
| 5 | Quelques-uns de ceux qui se tenaient là leur dirent : "Que faites-vous de détacher l'ânon ?" | And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt? |
| 6 | Mais eux dirent comme Jésus avait dit, et on les laissa (faire). | And they said unto them even as Jesus had said: and they let them go. |
| 7 | Et ils amènent l'ânon à Jésus, et ils mettent par-dessus leurs manteaux; et Jésus s'assit sur lui. | And they bring the colt unto Jesus, and cast on him their garments; and he sat upon him. |
| 8 | Un grand nombre étendirent leurs manteaux sur le chemin; d'autres, des branchages, qu'ils avaient coupés dans les champs. | And many spread their garments upon the way; and others branches, which they had cut from the fields. |
| 9 | Et ceux qui allaient devant et ceux qui suivaient criaient : "Hosanna ! Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur ! | And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, Hosanna; Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord: |
| 10 | Béni soit le règne de notre père David ! Hosanna au plus haut des cieux ! " | Blessed [is] the kingdom that cometh, [the kingdom] of our father David: Hosanna in the highest. |
| 11 | Et il entra à Jérusalem, dans le temple; et, après avoir jeté un regard circulaire sur tout, comme déjà l'heure était avancée, il sortit et s'en alla à Béthanie avec les Douze. | And he entered into Jerusalem, into the temple; and when he had looked round about upon all things, it being now eventide, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve. |
| 12 | Le lendemain, après qu'ils furent sortis de Béthanie, il eut faim. | And on the morrow, when they were come out from Bethany, he hungered. |
| 13 | Voyant de loin un figuier qui avait des feuilles, il s'en approcha (pour voir) s'il y trouverait quelque chose; et s'en étant approché, il n'y trouva que des feuilles, car ce n'était pas le temps des figues. | And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find anything thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season of figs. |
| 14 | Prenant la parole, il lui dit : "Que jamais plus personne ne mange du fruit de toi ! "Et ses disciples entendaient. | And he answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit from thee henceforward for ever. And his disciples heard it. |
| 15 | Ils arrivèrent à Jérusalem. Et étant entré dans le temple, il se mit à chasser ceux qui vendaient et achetaient dans le temple, et il renversa les tables des changeurs, et les sièges de ceux qui vendaient des colombes, | And they come to Jerusalem: and he entered into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and them that bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of them that sold the doves; |
| 16 | et il ne souffrait pas que personne transportât aucun objet à travers le temple. | and he would not suffer that any man should carry a vessel through the temple. |
| 17 | Et il enseignait, en disant : "N'est-il pas écrit : Ma maison sera appelée maison de prière pour toutes les nations ? Mais vous, vous en avez fait une caverne de voleurs." | And he taught, and said unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations? but ye have made it a den of robbers. |
| 18 | Ce qu'ayant entendu, les grands prêtres et les scribes cherchaient comment le faire périr, car ils le craignaient, parce que toute la foule était saisie d'admiration pour son enseignement. | And the chief priests and the scribes heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, for all the multitude was astonished at his teaching. |
| 19 | Quand le soir fut venu, il sortit de la ville. | And every evening he went forth out of the city. |
| 20 | Or, en repassant de grand matin, ils virent le figuier desséché depuis les racines. | And as they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away from the roots. |
| 21 | Et Pierre, se ressouvenant, lui dit : "Rabbi, vois ! Le figuier que vous avez maudit est desséché." | And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Rabbi, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. |
| 22 | Jésus leur répondit : "Ayez foi en Dieu. | And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. |
| 23 | Je vous le dis, en vérité, celui qui dira à cette montagne : "Ote-toi de là, et jette-toi dans la mer ! "s'il n'hésite pas en son coeur, mais croit que ce qu'il dit arrive, ce sera (fait) pour lui. | Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that what he saith cometh to pass; he shall have it. |
| 24 | C'est pourquoi, je vous le dis, tout ce que vous demandez dans la prière, croyez que vous l'obtenez, et ce sera (fait) pour vous. | Therefore I say unto you, All things whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. |
| 25 | Lorsque vous vous tenez debout pour prier, si vous avez quelque chose contre quelqu'un, pardonnez, afin que votre Père qui est dans les cieux vous pardonne vos offenses. [26] | And whensoever ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any one; that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. |
| 26 | | [But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your trespasses.] |
| 27 | Ils viennent de nouveau à Jérusalem. Comme il circulait dans le temple, les grands prêtres, les scribes et les anciens viennent vers lui, | And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders; |
| 28 | et lui disent : "Par quel pouvoir faites-vous cela, ou qui vous a donné ce pouvoir pour faire cela ?" | and they said unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? or who gave thee this authority to do these things? |
| 29 | Jésus leur dit : "Je vous demanderai une seule chose; répondez-moi et je vous dirai par quel pouvoir je fais cela. | And Jesus said unto them, I will ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. |
| 30 | Le baptême de Jean, était-il du ciel ou des hommes ? Répondez-moi." | The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or from men? answer me. |
| 31 | Mais ils faisaient en eux-mêmes cette réflexion : "Si nous disons : "Du ciel, "il dira : "Pourquoi donc n'avez-vous pas cru en lui." | And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; He will say, Why then did ye not believe him? |
| 32 | Mais allons-nous dire : "Des hommes " ? Ils craignaient le peuple, car tous tenaient que Jean avait réellement été prophète. | But should we say, From men--they feared the people: for all verily held John to be a prophet. |
| 33 | Ils répondirent à Jésus : "Nous ne savons pas."Et Jésus leur dit [en réplique] : "Moi non plus, je ne vous dis pas par quel pouvoir je fais cela." | And they answered Jesus and say, We know not. And Jesus saith unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. |
