2	Un centenier avait un serviteur auquel il était très attaché, et qui se trouvait malade, sur le point de mourir. 3	Ayant entendu parler de Jésus, il lui envoya quelques anciens des Juifs, pour le prier de venir guérir son serviteur.	And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. 6	Jésus, étant allé avec eux, n'était guère éloigné de la maison, quand le centenier envoya des amis pour lui dire : Seigneur, ne prends pas tant de peine ; car je ne suis pas digne que tu entres sous mon toit.	Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:	Et Jésus s'en alla avec eux. Déjà il était non loin de la maison, lorsque le centurion envoya des amis pour lui dire : "Seigneur, ne prenez pas cette peine, car je ne suis pas digne que vous entriez sous mon toit;	And Jesus went with them. 7	C'est aussi pour cela que je ne me suis pas cru digne d'aller en personne vers toi. Mais dis un mot, et mon serviteur sera guéri.	Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.	aussi ne me suis-je pas même jugé digne de venir vers vous; mais dites un mot et que mon serviteur soit guéri !	wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say the word, and my servant shall be healed.
8	Car, moi qui suis soumis à des supérieurs, j'ai des soldats sous mes ordres ; et je dis à l'un : Va ! et il va ; à l'autre : Viens ! et il vient ; et à mon serviteur : Fais cela ! et il le fait.	For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.	Car moi qui suis soumis à des chefs, j'ai des soldats sous mes ordres, et je dis à l'un : "Va, "et il va; et à un autre : "Viens, "et il vient; et à mon serviteur : "Fais ceci, "et il le fait."	For I also am a man set under authority, having under myself soldiers: and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
9	Lorsque Jésus entendit ces paroles, il admira le centenier, et, se tournant vers la foule qui le suivait, il dit : Je vous le dis, même en Israël je n'ai pas trouvé une aussi grande foi.	When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.	En entendant cela, Jésus fut dans l'admiration pour lui et, se tournant, il dit à la foule qui le suivait : "Je vous le dis : même en Israël je n'ai pas trouvé une si grande foi."	And when Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned and said unto the multitude that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
10	De retour à la maison, les gens envoyés par le centenier trouvèrent guéri le serviteur qui avait été malade.	And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.	Et s'en étant retournés à la maison, les envoyés trouvèrent le serviteur en bonne santé. 11	Le jour suivant, Jésus alla dans une ville appelée Naïn ; ses disciples et une grande foule faisaient route avec lui.	And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.	Or il se rendit ensuite à une ville nommée Naïn; ses disciples et une foule nombreuse faisaient route avec lui. 12	Lorsqu'il fut près de la porte de la ville, voici, on portait en terre un mort, fils unique de sa mère, qui était veuve ; et il y avait avec elle beaucoup de gens de la ville.	Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.	Comme il approchait de la porte de la ville, voilà qu'on emportait un mort, fils unique de sa mère, laquelle était veuve, et une foule considérable (de gens) de la ville étaient avec elle.	Now when he drew near to the gate of the city, behold, there was carried out one that was dead, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.
13	Le Seigneur, l'ayant vue, fut ému de compassion pour elle, et lui dit : Ne pleure pas !	And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.	Le Seigneur l'ayant vue, fut touché de compassion pour elle, et il lui dit : Ne pleurez pas.	And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
14	Il s'approcha, et toucha le cercueil. Ceux qui le portaient s'arrêtèrent. Il dit : Jeune homme, je te le dis, lève-toi !	And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.	Et s'approchant, il toucha le cercueil, et les porteurs s'arrêtèrent; et il dit : "Jeune homme, je te le dis, lève-toi ! "	And he came nigh and touched the bier: and the bearers stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
15	Et le mort s'assit, et se mit à parler. Jésus le rendit à sa mère.	And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother. 16	Tous furent saisis de crainte, et ils glorifiaient Dieu, disant : Un grand prophète a paru parmi nous, et Dieu a visité son peuple.	And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people. 17	Cette parole sur Jésus se répandit dans toute la Judée et dans tout le pays d'alentour.	And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about. 18	Jean fut informé de toutes ces choses par ses disciples.	And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things.	Les disciples de Jean lui rapportèrent tout cela. Et Jean appela deux de ses disciples,	And the disciples of John told him of all these things.
19	Il en appela deux, et les envoya vers Jésus, pour lui dire : Es-tu celui qui doit venir, ou devons-nous en attendre un autre ?	And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?	qu'il envoya vers Jésus pour lui dire : "Etes-vous celui qui doit venir, ou devons-nous en attendre un autre ?" 20	Arrivés auprès de Jésus, ils dirent : Jean Baptiste nous a envoyés vers toi, pour dire : Es-tu celui qui doit venir, ou devons-nous en attendre un autre ?	When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?	Arrivés près de lui, les hommes lui dirent : "Jean-Baptiste nous a envoyés vers vous pour dire : Etes-vous celui qui doit venir, ou devons-nous en attendre un autre ?"	And when the men were come unto him, they said, John the Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that cometh, or look we for another?
21	A l'heure même, Jésus guérit plusieurs personnes de maladies, d'infirmités, et d'esprits malins, et il rendit la vue à plusieurs aveugles.	And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.	En ce même moment il guérit un grand nombre de personnes de maladies, d'infirmités et d'esprits mauvais, et il accorda de voir à beaucoup d'aveugles.	In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and on many that were blind he bestowed sight.
22	Et il leur répondit : Allez rapporter à Jean ce que vous avez vu et entendu : les aveugles voient, les boiteux marchent, les lépreux sont purifiés, les sourds entendent, les morts ressuscitent, la bonne nouvelle est annoncée aux pauvres.	Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.	Puis il leur répondit : "Allez rapporter à Jean ce que vous avez vu et entendu : les aveugles voient, les boiteux marchent, les lépreux sont guéris, les sourds entendent, les morts ressuscitent, les pauvres sont évangélisés.	And he answered and said unto them, Go and tell John the things which ye have seen and heard; the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have good tidings preached to them.
23	Heureux celui pour qui je ne serai pas une occasion de chute !	And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.	Heureux celui pour qui je ne serai pas une occasion de chute ! "	And blessed is he, whosoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me.
24	Lorsque les envoyés de Jean furent partis, Jésus se mit à dire à la foule, au sujet de Jean : Qu'êtes-vous allés voir au désert ? un roseau agité par le vent ?	And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind?	Lorsque les envoyés de Jean furent partis, il se mit à dire aux foules, au sujet de Jean : "Qu'êtes-vous allés voir au désert ? Un roseau agité par le vent ?	And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to behold? a reed shaken with the wind?
25	Mais, qu'êtes-vous allés voir ? un homme vêtu d'habits précieux ? Voici, ceux qui portent des habits magnifiques, et qui vivent dans les délices, sont dans les maisons des rois.	But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.	Qu'êtes-vous allés voir ? Un homme vêtu d'habits somptueux ? Mais ceux qui sont en habillement magnifique et dans les délices se trouvent dans les palais des rois.	But what went ye out to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings` courts.
26	Qu'êtes-vous donc allés voir ? un prophète ? Oui, vous dis-je, et plus qu'un prophète.	But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet. 27	C'est celui dont il est écrit : Voici, j'envoie mon messager devant ta face, Pour préparer ton chemin devant toi.	This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 28	Je vous le dis, parmi ceux qui sont nés de femmes, il n'y en a point de plus grand que Jean. Cependant, le plus petit dans le royaume de Dieu est plus grand que lui.	For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.	Je vous le dis en effet, parmi les fils de la femme, nul n'est plus grand que Jean; mais le plus petit dans le royaume de Dieu est plus grand que lui. 29	Et tout le peuple qui l'a entendu et même les publicains ont justifié Dieu, en se faisant baptiser du baptême de Jean ;	And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. 30	mais les pharisiens et les docteurs de la loi, en ne se faisant pas baptiser par lui, ont rendu nul à leur égard le dessein de Dieu. They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.	Ils sont semblables à des enfants qui sont assis sur une place publique et qui se crient les uns aux autres : "Nous vous avons joué de la flûte pour vous, et vous n'avez pas dansé; nous vous avons chanté une lamentation, et vous n'avez point pleuré."	They are like unto children that sit in the marketplace, and call one to another; who say, We piped unto you, and ye did not dance; we wailed, and ye did not weep.
33	Car Jean Baptiste est venu, ne mangeant pas de pain et ne buvant pas de vin, et vous dites : Il a un démon.	For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.	Jean le Baptiste, en effet, est venu, ne mangeant point de pain et ne buvant point de vin, et vous dites : "Il est possédé du démon."	For John the Baptist is come eating no bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a demon.

37	Et voici, une femme pécheresse qui se trouvait dans la ville, ayant su qu'il était à table dans la maison du pharisien, apporta un vase d'albâtre plein de parfum,	And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,	Et voici qu'une femme qui, dans la ville, était pécheresse, ayant appris qu'il était à table dans la maison du Pharisien, apporta un vase d'albâtre (plein) de parfum;	And behold, a woman who was in the city, a sinner; and when she knew that he was sitting at meat in the Pharisee`s house, she brought an alabaster cruse of ointment,
38	et se tint derrière, aux pieds de Jésus. Elle pleurait ; et bientôt elle lui mouilla les pieds de ses larmes, puis les essuya avec ses cheveux, les baisa, et les oignit de parfum.	And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.	et se tenant par derrière, près de ses pieds, tout en pleurs, elle se mit à arroser ses pieds de ses larmes, et elle essuyait avec les cheveux de sa tête et embrassait ses pieds, et elle les oignait de parfum.	and standing behind at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39	Le pharisien qui l'avait invité, voyant cela, dit en lui-même : Si cet homme était prophète, il connaîtrait qui et de quelle espèce est la femme qui le touche, il connaîtrait que c'est une pécheresse.	Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.	A cette vue, le Pharisien qui l'avait invité se dit en lui-même : "S'il était prophète, il saurait qui et de quelle espèce est la femme qui le touche, que c'est une pécheresse."	Now when the Pharisee that had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him, that she is a sinner.
