| 2 | il vit deux barques qui stationnaient sur le bord; les pêcheurs étaient descendus et lavaient les filets. | and he saw two boats standing by the lake: but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets. |
| 3 | Il monta dans une des barques, qui était à Simon, et le pria de s'éloigner un peu de terre; et s'étant assis, de la barque il enseignait les foules. | And he entered into one of the boats, which was Simon`s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the multitudes out of the boat. |
| 4 | Lorsqu'il eut cessé de parler, il dit à Simon : "Mène au large, et jetez vos filets pour la pêche." | And when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. |
| 5 | Simon répondit : "Maître, toute la nuit nous avons peiné sans rien prendre; mais, sur votre parole, je jetterai les filets." | And Simon answered and said, Master, we toiled all night, and took nothing: but at thy word I will let down the nets. |
| 6 | Et l'ayant fait, ils prirent une grande quantité de poissons; et leurs filets se rompaient. | And when they had done this, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes; and their nets were breaking; |
| 7 | Et ils firent signe aux compagnons, qui étaient dans l'autre barque, de venir à leur aide. Ils vinrent, et on remplit les deux barques, au point qu'elles enfonçaient. | and they beckoned unto their partners in the other boat, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. |
| 8 | Ce que voyant, Simon Pierre tomba aux genoux de Jésus en disant : Eloignez-vous de moi, parce que je suis un pécheur, Seigneur ! | But Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell down at Jesus` knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. |
| 9 | Car la stupeur l'avait envahi, lui et tous ceux qui étaient avec lui, à cause de la pêche des poissons qu'ils avaient faite; | For he was amazed, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken; |
| 10 | et de même Jacques et Jean, fils de Zébédée, qui étaient associés à Simon. Et Jésus dit à Simon : "Ne crains point; désormais ce sont des hommes que tu prendras." | and so were also James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. |
| 11 | Ils ramenèrent les barques à terre et, laissant tout, ils le suivirent. | And when they had brought their boats to land, they left all, and followed him. |
| 12 | Or, comme il était dans une des villes, survint un homme tout couvert de lèpre. En voyant Jésus, il se prosterna la face contre terre et le supplia, disant : "Seigneur, si vous voulez vous pouvez me guérir." | And it came to pass, while he was in one of the cities, behold, a man full of leprosy: and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. |
| 13 | Il étendit la main, le toucha et dit : "Je le veux, sois guéri."Et à l'instant la lèpre le quitta. | And he stretched forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou made clean. And straightway the leprosy departed from him. |
| 14 | Et il lui défendit d'en parler à personne; mais : "Va, (dit-il), te montrer au prêtre, et offre pour ta guérison selon qu'a prescrit Moïse, en attestation pour eux." | And he charged him to tell no man: but go thy way, and show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. |
| 15 | Sa renommée se répandit de plus en plus, et des foules nombreuses se rassemblaient pour l'entendre et se faire guérir de leurs maladies. | But so much the more went abroad the report concerning him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed of their infirmities. |
| 16 | Mais lui se retirait dans les (lieux) déserts et il priait. | But he withdrew himself in the deserts, and prayed. |
| 17 | Or, un jour, il enseignait, et étaient assis des Pharisiens et des docteurs de la Loi, venus de tous les bourgs de la Galilée, de la Judée et de Jérusalem, et la vertu du Seigneur le poussait à opérer des guérisons. | And it came to pass on one of those days, that he was teaching; and there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, who were come out of every village of Galilee and Judaea and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was with him to heal. |
| 18 | Et voilà que des gens, portant sur un lit un homme qui était paralysé, cherchaient à le faire entrer et à le mettre devant lui. | And behold, men bring on a bed a man that was palsied: and they sought to bring him in, and to lay him before him. |
| 19 | Et ne trouvant pas moyen de le faire entrer à cause de la foule, ils montèrent sur la terrasse et, à travers les tuiles, le descendirent avec la couchette, au milieu devant Jésus. | And not finding by what [way] they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his couch into the midst before Jesus. |
| 20 | Voyant leur foi, il dit : "Homme, tes péchés te sont remis." | And seeing their faith, he said, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. |
| 21 | Les scribes et les Pharisiens se mirent à penser, disant : "Qui est celui-ci qui profère des blasphèmes ? Qui peut remettre les péchés, sinon Dieu seul ?" | And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this that speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? |
| 22 | Jésus, connaissant leurs pensées, prit la parole et leur dit : "Quelles pensées avez-vous en vous-mêmes ? | But Jesus perceiving their reasonings, answered and said unto them, Why reason ye in your hearts? |
| 23 | Lequel est le plus facile, de dire : "Tes péchés te sont remis, "ou de dire : "Lève-toi et marche " ? | Which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk? |
| 24 | Mais, afin que vous sachiez que le Fils de l'homme a, sur la terre, le pouvoir de remettre les péchés, il dit au paralytique : Je te le dis, lève-toi, prends ta couchette et va-t'en dans ta maison." | But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins (he said unto him that was palsied), I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go unto thy house. |
| 25 | A l'instant, il se leva devant eux, prit (le lit) sur lequel il était couché, et s'en retourna dans sa maison en glorifiant Dieu. | And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his house, glorifying God. |
| 26 | Et tous furent pris de stupeur et ils glorifiaient Dieu, et ils furent remplis de crainte, disant : "Nous avons vu aujourd'hui des choses merveilleuses." | And amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God; and they were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to-day. |
| 27 | Après cela, il sortit et il considéra un publicain nommé Lévi, assis au bureau du fisc, et il lui dit : "Suis-moi." | And after these things he went forth, and beheld a publican, named Levi, sitting at the place of toll, and said unto him, Follow me. |
| 28 | Et quittant tout, il se leva et se mit à le suivre. | And he forsook all, and rose up and followed him. |
| 29 | Et Lévi lui fit un grand festin dans sa maison; et il y avait une foule nombreuse de publicains et d'autres qui étaient à table avec eux. | And Levi made him a great feast in his house: and there was a great multitude of publicans and of others that were sitting at meat with them. |
| 30 | Les Pharisiens et leurs scribes murmuraient et disaient à ses disciples : Pourquoi mangez-vous et buvez-vous avec les publicains et les pécheurs ? | And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with the publicans and sinners? |
| 31 | Jésus leur répondit : "Ce ne sont pas ceux qui sont en bonne santé qui ont besoin de médecin, mais les malades. | And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are in health have no need of a physician; but they that are sick. |
| 32 | Je ne suis pas venu appeler les justes, mais les pécheurs au repentir." | I am not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. |
| 33 | Quelques-uns lui dirent : "Les disciples de Jean observent souvent le jeûne et font des prières; pareillement aussi ceux des Pharisiens; mais les vôtres mangent et boivent ! " | And they said unto him, The disciples of John fast often, and make supplications; likewise also the [disciples] of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink. |
| 34 | Jésus leur dit : "Pouvez-vous faire observer le jeûne aux amis de l'époux, pendant que l'époux est avec eux ? | And Jesus said unto them, Can ye make the sons of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? |
| 35 | Mais viendront des jours où l'époux leur sera enlevé, et alors ils observeront le jeûne en ces jours-là." | But the days will come; and when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, then will they fast in those days. |
| 36 | Il leur dit aussi une parabole : "Personne ne met à un vieux vêtement une pièce déchirée d'un vêtement neuf : autrement il déchire le neuf, et la pièce (prise) du neuf ne va pas avec le vieux. | And he spake also a parable unto them: No man rendeth a piece from a new garment and putteth it upon an old garment; else he will rend the new, and also the piece from the new will not agree with the old. |
| 37 | Personne non plus ne met du vin nouveau dans des outres vieilles : autrement, le vin nouveau fera éclater les outres, il se répandra, et les outres seront perdues. | And no man putteth new wine into old wine-skins; else the new wine will burst the skins, and itself will be spilled, and the skins will perish. |
| 38 | Mais il faut mettre le vin nouveau dans des outres neuves. | But new wine must be put into fresh wine-skins. |
| 39 | Et personne, buvant du (vin) vieux, ne veut du nouveau, car il dit : Le vieux est meilleur." | And no man having drunk old [wine] desireth new; for he saith, The old is good. |
