| 4 | Et il s'en alla conférer avec les grands prêtres et les commandants (du temple) sur le moyen de le leur livrer. | And he went away, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might deliver him unto them. |
| 5 | Ils furent dans la joie et convinrent de lui donner de l'argent. | And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. |
| 6 | Il se dit d'accord; et il cherchait une occasion favorable pour le leur livrer sans tumulte de foule. | And he consented, and sought opportunity to deliver him unto them in the absence of the multitude. |
| 7 | Vint le jour des Azymes, où l'on devait sacrifier la pâque. | And the day of unleavened bread came, on which the passover must be sacrificed. |
| 8 | Il envoya Pierre et Jean, disant : "Allez nous faire les préparatifs de la pâque pour que nous la mangions." | And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and make ready for us the passover, that we may eat. |
| 9 | Ils lui dirent : "Où voulez-vous que nous fassions les préparatifs ?" | And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we make ready? |
| 10 | Il leur dit : "Voici : en entrant dans la ville, vous rencontrerez un homme portant une cruche d'eau; suivez-le dans la maison où il pénétrera, | And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house whereinto he goeth. |
| 11 | et vous direz au maître de la maison : "Le Maître te fait dire : Où est la salle, où je pourrai manger la pâque avec mes disciples ?" | And ye shall say unto the master of the house, The Teacher saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? |
| 12 | Et il vous montrera une chambre du haut, vaste et meublée : faites là les préparatifs." | And he will show you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. |
| 13 | Ils partirent et trouvèrent (les choses) comme il le leur avait dit; et ils firent les préparatifs de la pâque. | And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. |
| 14 | Quand l'heure fut venue, il se mit à table et les apôtres avec lui; | And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the apostles with him. |
| 15 | et il leur dit : "J'ai ardemment désiré manger cette pâque avec vous avant de souffrir. | And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: |
| 16 | Car, je vous le dis, je ne la mangerai plus jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit accomplie dans le royaume de Dieu." | for I say unto you, I shall not eat it, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. |
| 17 | Et, prenant une coupe, il rendit grâces et dit : "Prenez-la et partagez entre vous. | And he received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: |
| 18 | Car, je vous le dis, je ne boirai plus désormais du produit de la vigne, jusqu'à ce que le royaume de Dieu soit venu." | for I say unto you, I shall not drink from henceforth of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. |
| 19 | Et il prit du pain, et, après avoir rendu grâces, il le rompit et le leur donna, en disant : "Ceci est mon corps, donné pour vous. Faites ceci en mémoire de moi." | And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and gave to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. |
| 20 | Et pareillement (pour) la coupe, après qu'ils eurent soupé, en disant : Cette coupe est la nouvelle alliance en mon sang, répandu pour vous. | And the cup in like manner after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, [even] that which is poured out for you. |
| 21 | Cependant voici que la main de celui qui me trahit est avec moi sur la table. | But behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. |
| 22 | Car le Fils de l'homme s'en va selon ce qui est décrété; mais malheur à l'homme par qui il est trahi ! | For the Son of man indeed goeth, as it hath been determined: but woe unto that man through whom he is betrayed! |
| 23 | Et ils se mirent à se demander entre eux qui pouvait bien être celui d'entre eux qui allait faire cela. | And they began to question among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing. |
| 24 | Il y eut aussi parmi eux une dispute : lequel d'entre eux devait passer pour le plus grand. | And there arose also a contention among them, which of them was accounted to be greatest. |
| 25 | Et il leur dit : "Les rois des nations leur commandent en maîtres, et ceux qui exercent empire sur elles se font appeler Bienfaiteurs. | And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles have lordship over them; and they that have authority over them are called Benefactors. |
| 26 | Vous, (ne faites) pas ainsi; mais que le plus grand parmi vous devienne comme le plus jeune, et celui qui gouverne comme celui qui sert. | But ye [shall] not [be] so: but he that is the greater among you, let him become as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. |
| 27 | Qui, en effet, est le plus grand, celui qui est à table ou celui qui sert ? N'est-ce pas celui qui est à table ? Or moi, au milieu de vous, je suis comme celui qui sert. | For which is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am in the midst of you as he that serveth. |
| 28 | Vous, vous êtes ceux qui sont demeurés constamment avec moi dans mes épreuves; | But ye are they that have continued with me in my temptations; |
| 29 | et moi, je vous attribue la royauté comme mon Père me l'a attribuée, | and I appoint unto you a kingdom, even as my Father appointed unto me, |
| 30 | afin que vous mangiez et buviez à ma table dans mon royaume; et vous siégerez sur des trônes, jugeant les douze tribus d'Israël. | that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; and ye shall sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. |
| 31 | Simon, Simon, voici que Satan vous a réclamés pour vous passer au crible comme le froment. | Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat: |
| 32 | Mais moi, j'ai prié pour toi, afin que ta foi ne défaille point; et toi, quand tu seras revenu, affermis tes frères." | but I made supplication for thee, that thy faith fail not; and do thou, when once thou hast turned again, establish thy brethren. |
| 33 | Il lui dit : "Seigneur, je suis prêt à aller avec vous et en prison et à la mort." | And he said unto him, Lord, with thee I am ready to go both to prison and to death. |
| 34 | Mais il dit : "Je te le dis, Pierre, le coq ne chantera pas aujourd'hui que tu n'aies trois fois nié me connaître." | And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, until thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me. |
| 35 | Et il leur dit : "Quand je vous ai envoyés sans bourse, ni besace, ni sandales, avez-vous manqué de quelque chose ?"Ils dirent : "De rien." | And he said unto them, When I sent you forth without purse, and wallet, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing. |
| 36 | Il leur dit : "Mais maintenant, que celui qui a une bourse la prenne, et de même la besace; et que celui qui n'a pas de glaive vende son manteau et en achète un. | And he said unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet; and he that hath none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword. |
| 37 | Car, je vous le dis, il faut encore que cette Ecriture s'accomplisse en moi : Et il a été compté parmi les malfaiteurs. Aussi bien, ce qui me concerne touche à sa fin." | For I say unto you, that this which is written must be fulfilled in me, And he was reckoned with transgressors: for that which concerneth me hath fulfilment. |
| 38 | Ils lui dirent : "Seigneur, voici ici deux glaives."Il leur dit : "C'est assez." | And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough. |
| 39 | Etant sorti, il s'en alla, comme de coutume, vers le mont des Oliviers; les disciples aussi l'accompagnèrent. | And he came out, and went, as his custom was, unto the mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed him. |
| 40 | Lorsqu'il fut à l'endroit, il leur dit : "Priez afin de ne pas entrer en tentation." | And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. |
| 41 | Et il s'éloigna d'eux environ d'un jet de pierre; et, s'étant mis à genoux, il priait, disant : | And he was parted from them about a stone`s cast; and he kneeled down and prayed, |
| 42 | "Père, si vous voulez, détournez de moi ce calice. Cependant, que ce ne soit pas ma volonté, mais la vôtre qui soit faite." | saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. |
| 43 | Et lui apparut, (venant) du ciel, un ange qui le réconfortait. | And there appeared unto him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. |
| 44 | Et, se trouvant en agonie, il priait plus instamment, et sa sueur devint comme des gouttes de sang, qui tombaient sur la terre. | And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became as it were great drops of blood falling down upon the ground. |
| 45 | S'étant relevé de (sa) prière, il vint vers les disciples, qu'il trouva plongés dans le sommeil à cause de la tristesse. | And when he rose up from his prayer, he came unto the disciples, and found them sleeping for sorrow, |
| 46 | Et il leur dit : "Pourquoi dormez-vous ? Levez-vous et priez, afin que vous n'entriez point en tentation." | and said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, that ye enter not into temptation. |
| 47 | Comme il parlait encore, voici (venir) une foule, et le nommé Judas, l'un des Douze, les précédait. Il s'approcha de Jésus pour lui donner un baiser. | While he yet spake, behold, a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them; and he drew near unto Jesus to kiss him. |
| 48 | Et Jésus lui dit : "Judas, c'est par un baiser que tu livres le Fils de l'homme ! " | But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss? |
| 49 | Ceux qui étaient autour de lui, voyant ce qui allait arriver, dirent : Seigneur, si nous frappions du glaive ? | And when they that were about him saw what would follow, they said, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? |
| 50 | Et l'un d'eux frappa le serviteur du grand prêtre et lui emporta l'oreille droite. | And a certain one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his right ear. |
| 51 | Jésus répondit : "Laissez (faire) jusque là ! "Et touchant l'oreille, il le guérit. | But Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye [them] thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. |
| 52 | Et Jésus dit à ceux qui étaient venus contre lui, grands prêtres, commandants du temple et anciens : "Comme contre un brigand, vous êtes sortis avec des glaives et des bâtons ! | And Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and elders, that were come against him, Are ye come out, as against a robber, with swords and staves? |
| 53 | Alors que chaque jour j'étais avec vous dans le temple, vous n'avez pas porté les mains sur moi. Mais c'est (maintenant) votre heure et la puissance des Ténèbres." | When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched not forth your hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness. |
| 54 | S'étant saisis de lui, ils l'emmenèrent et le firent entrer dans la maison du grand prêtre. Or Pierre suivait de loin. | And they seized him, and led him [away], and brought him into the high priest`s house. But Peter followed afar off. |
| 55 | Ayant allumé du feu au milieu de la cour, ils s'assirent autour, et Pierre s'assit parmi eux. | And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and had sat down together, Peter sat in the midst of them. |
| 56 | Une servante, qui le vit assis près de la flamme, le dévisagea et dit : Celui-là aussi était avec lui. | And a certain maid seeing him as he sat in the light [of the fire], and looking stedfastly upon him, said, This man also was with him. |
| 57 | Mais il nia, en disant : "Femme, je ne le connais point." | But he denied, saying, Woman, I know him not. |
| 58 | Un peu après, un autre, l'ayant vu, dit : "Toi aussi, tu en es."Mais Pierre dit : "Homme, je n'en suis point." | And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou also art [one] of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not. |
| 59 | Et une heure environ s'étant écoulée, un autre affirma avec force : "Pour sûr, celui-là aussi était avec lui; aussi bien, il est Galiléen." | And after the space of about one hour another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this man also was with him; for he is a Galilaean. |
| 60 | Pierre dit : "Homme, je ne sais ce que tu dis."Et à l'instant, comme il parlait encore, un coq chanta. | But Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. |
| 61 | Et le Seigneur, s'étant retourné, arrêta son regard sur Pierre, et Pierre se souvint de la parole du Seigneur, comme il lui avait dit : "Avant que le coq ait chanté aujourd'hui, tu me renieras trois fois." | And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how that he said unto him, Before the cock crow this day thou shalt deny me thrice. |
| 62 | Et étant sorti, il pleura amèrement. | And he went out, and wept bitterly. |
| 63 | Et ceux qui le tenaient se moquaient de lui et le frappaient. | And the men that held [Jesus] mocked him, and beat him. |
| 64 | Et lui ayant voilé (le visage), ils l'interrogeaient, disant : "Prophétise ! Quel est celui qui t'a frappé ?" | And they blindfolded him, and asked him, saying, Prophesy: who is he that struck thee? |
| 65 | Et ils proféraient contre lui beaucoup d'autres injures. | And many other things spake they against him, reviling him. |
| 66 | Quand il fit jour, se réunit le conseil des anciens du peuple, grands prêtres et scribes; et ils l'amenèrent à leur tribunal. | And as soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people was gathered together, both chief priests and scribes; and they led him away into their council, saying, |
| 67 | Ils dirent : "Si tu es le Christ, dis-le-nous."Il leur dit : "Si je vous le dis, vous ne le croirez pas; | If thou art the Christ, tell us. But he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: |
| 68 | et si je vous interroge, vous ne répondrez pas. | and if I ask [you], ye will not answer. |
| 69 | Mais dès maintenant le Fils de l'homme sera assis à la droite de la puissance de Dieu." | But from henceforth shall the Son of man be seated at the right hand of the power of God. |
| 70 | Ils dirent tous : "Tu es donc le Fils de Dieu ?"Il leur répondit : "Vous le dites : je le suis." | And they all said, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. |
| 71 | Et ils dirent : "Qu'avons-nous encore besoin de témoignage ? Car nous l'avons nous-mêmes entendu de sa bouche." | And they said, What further need have we of witness? for we ourselves have heard from his own mouth. |
