| 2 | Il dit : "Il y avait dans une ville un juge qui ne craignait point Dieu et n'avait point égard aux hommes. | saying, There was in a city a judge, who feared not God, and regarded not man: |
| 3 | Et il y avait dans cette ville une veuve qui venait à lui et disait : "Fais-moi justice de mon adversaire." | and there was a widow in that city; and she came oft unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. |
| 4 | Et pendant un temps il ne le voulait pas. Après quoi cependant il se dit en lui-même : "Encore que je ne craigne pas Dieu et que je n'aie pas égard aux hommes, | And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; |
| 5 | néanmoins, parce que cette veuve m'importune, je lui ferai justice, pour qu'elle ne vienne pas me rompre la tête éternellement." | yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest she wear me out by her continual coming. |
| 6 | Et le Seigneur dit : "Ecoutez ce que dit le juge inique ! | And the Lord said, Hear what the unrighteous judge saith. |
| 7 | Et Dieu ne ferait pas justice à ses élus qui crient à lui nuit et jour, lui qui use de patience envers eux ? | And shall not God avenge his elect, that cry to him day and night, and [yet] he is longsuffering over them? |
| 8 | Je vous le dis, il leur fera justice promptement. Seulement, quand le Fils de l'homme viendra, trouvera-t-il la foi sur terre ?" | I say unto you, that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? |
| 9 | Il dit encore cette parabole à l'adresse de certains qui avaient en eux-mêmes la conviction d'être justes et qui méprisaient les autres : | And he spake also this parable unto certain who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and set all others at nought: |
| 10 | "Deux hommes montèrent au temple pour prier, l'un Pharisien et l'autre publicain. | Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. |
| 11 | Le Pharisien, s'étant arrêté, priait ainsi en lui-même : "O Dieu, je vous rends grâces de ce que je ne suis pas comme le reste des hommes, qui sont rapaces, injustes, adultères, ni encore comme ce publicain. | The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. |
| 12 | Je jeûne deux fois la semaine; je paie la dîme de tout ce que j'acquiers." | I fast twice in the week; I give tithes of all that I get. |
| 13 | Le publicain, se tenant à distance, n'osait pas même lever les yeux au ciel; mais il se frappait la poitrine en disant : "O Dieu, ayez pitié de moi le pécheur ! " | But the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying, God, be thou merciful to me a sinner. |
| 14 | Je vous le dis, celui-ci descendit dans sa maison justifié, plutôt que celui-là; car quiconque s'élève sera abaissé, et qui s'abaisse sera élevé." | I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. |
| 15 | On lui amenait aussi les tout petits pour qu'il les touchât; ce que voyant, les disciples les gourmandaient. | And they were bringing unto him also their babes, that he should touch them: but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. |
| 16 | Mais Jésus les appela à lui, disant : "Laissez les petits enfants venir à moi, et ne les en empêchez pas; car le royaume de Dieu est à ceux qui leur ressemblent. | But Jesus called them unto him, saying, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for to such belongeth the kingdom of God. |
| 17 | Je vous le dis, en vérité : qui ne recevra pas comme un petit enfant le royaume de Dieu n'y entrera point." | Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall in no wise enter therein. |
| 18 | Et certain chef lui demanda : "Bon Maître, en quoi faisant entrerai-je en possession de la vie éternelle ?" | And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? |
| 19 | Jésus lui dit : "Pourquoi m'appelles-tu bon ? Nul n'est bon que Dieu seul. | And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, [even] God. |
| 20 | Tu connais les commandements : Ne commets pas l'adultère, ne tue pas, ne dérobe pas, ne porte pas de faux témoignage, honore ton père et ta mère." | Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor thy father and mother. |
| 21 | Il dit : "J'ai observé tous ces (commandements) depuis ma jeunesse." | And he said, All these things have I observed from my youth up. |
| 22 | Ayant entendu (cela), Jésus dit : "Une chose encore te fait défaut : vends tout ce que tu as, distribue-le aux pauvres, et tu auras un trésor dans les cieux; puis viens, et suis-moi." | And when Jesus heard it, he said unto him, One thing thou lackest yet: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. |
| 23 | Lorsqu'il eut entendu cela, il devint tout triste, car il était fort riche. | But when he heard these things, he became exceeding sorrowful; for he was very rich. |
| 24 | Le voyant (triste), Jésus dit : "Combien difficilement ceux qui ont les richesses pénétreront dans le royaume de Dieu ! | And Jesus seeing him said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! |
| 25 | Il est, en effet, plus aisé pour un chameau de passer par le trou d'une aiguille, que pour un riche d'entrer dans le royaume de Dieu." | For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle`s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. |
| 26 | Ceux qui entendaient dirent : "Et qui peut être sauvé ?" | And they that heard it said, Then who can be saved? |
| 27 | Il dit : "Ce qui est impossible aux hommes est possible à Dieu." | But he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. |
| 28 | Et Pierre dit : "Voici que nous, quittant ce que nous avions, nous vous avons suivi." | And Peter said, Lo, we have left our own, and followed thee. |
| 29 | Il leur dit : "Je vous le dis, en vérité, nul n'aura quitté maison, ou femme, ou frères, ou parents, ou enfants, à cause du royaume de Dieu, | And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or wife, or brethren, or parents, or children, for the kingdom of God`s sake, |
| 30 | qui ne reçoive plusieurs fois autant en ce temps-ci, et, dans le siècle à venir, la vie éternelle." | who shall not receive manifold more in this time, and in the world to come eternal life. |
| 31 | Prenant auprès de lui les Douze, il leur dit : "Voici que nous montons à Jérusalem et que va s'accomplir pour le Fils de l'homme tout ce qui a été écrit par les prophètes. | And he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets shall be accomplished unto the Son of man. |
| 32 | En effet, il sera livré aux Gentils, sera bafoué, sera outragé, et sera couvert de crachats; | For he shall be delivered up unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and shamefully treated, and spit upon: |
| 33 | et, après l'avoir flagellé, on le fera mourir, et il ressuscitera le troisième jour." | and they shall scourge and kill him: and the third day he shall rise again. |
| 34 | Et eux ne comprirent rien à cela; c'était pour eux un langage caché et ils ne savaient pas ce qui (leur) était dit. | And they understood none of these things; and this saying was hid from them, and they perceived not the things that were said. |
| 35 | Comme il approchait de Jéricho, il se trouva qu'un aveugle était assis sur le bord du chemin, qui mendiait. | And it came to pass, as he drew nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: |
| 36 | Entendant passer la foule, il demanda ce que c'était. | and hearing a multitude going by, he inquired what this meant. |
| 37 | On l'informa que c'était Jésus de Nazareth qui passait. | And they told him that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. |
| 38 | Et il s'écria : "Jésus, fils de David, ayez pitié de moi ! " | And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. |
| 39 | Ceux qui marchaient devant lui commandèrent avec force de faire silence; mais il criait beaucoup plus fort : "Fils de David, ayez pitié de moi ! " | And they that went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried out the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. |
| 40 | Jésus, s'étant arrêté, ordonna qu'on le lui amenât; et quand il se fut approché, il lui demanda : | And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, |
| 41 | "Que veux-tu que je te fasse ?"Il dit : "Seigneur, que je voie ! " | What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. |
| 42 | Et Jésus lui dit : "Vois ! Ta foi t'a sauvé." | And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight; thy faith hath made thee whole. |
| 43 | Et à l'instant il vit, et il le suivait en glorifiant Dieu. Et tout le peuple, à cette vue donna louange à Dieu. | And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God. |
