| 1 | And he said also unto the disciples, There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he was wasting his goods. | Or egli disse ancora ai suoi discepoli: Vi era un uomo ricco che aveva un fattore; e questi fu accusato davanti a lui di dissipare i suoi beni. |
| 2 | And he called him, and said unto him, What is this that I hear of thee? render the account of thy stewardship; for thou canst be no longer steward. | Allora egli lo chiamò e gli disse: "Che cosa è questo che sento dire di te? Rendi ragione della tua amministrazione, perché tu non puoi più essere mio fattore". |
| 3 | And the steward said within himself, What shall I do, seeing that my lord taketh away the stewardship from me? I have not strength to dig; to beg I am ashamed. | E il fattore disse fra se stesso: "Che farò ora, dato che il mio padrone mi toglie l'amministrazione? A zappare non son capace, e a mendicare mi vergogno. |
| 4 | I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. | Io so cosa fare affinché, quando io sarò rimosso dall'amministrazione, mi accolgano nelle loro case |
| 5 | And calling to him each one of his lord`s debtors, he said to the first, How much owest thou unto my lord? | Chiamati dunque ad uno ad uno i debitori del suo padrone, disse al primo: "Quanto devi al mio padrone? |
| 6 | And he said, A hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bond, and sit down quickly and write fifty. | Quello rispose: "Cento bati di olio". Allora egli gli disse: "Prendi la tua ricevuta, siedi e scrivi subito cinquanta". |
| 7 | Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. He saith unto him, Take thy bond, and write fourscore. | Poi disse ad un altro: "e tu quanto devi". Ed egli disse: "Cento cori di grano". Allora egli gli disse: "Prendi la tua ricevuta e scrivi ottanta". |
| 8 | And his lord commended the unrighteous steward because he had done wisely: for the sons of this world are for their own generation wiser than the sons of the light. | Il padrone lodò il fattore disonesto, perché aveva agito con avvedutezza, poiché i figli di questo mondo, nella loro generazione, sono più avveduti dei figli della luce. |
| 9 | And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends by means of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when it shall fail, they may receive you into the eternal tabernacles. | Or io vi dico: Fatevi degli amici con le ricchezze ingiuste perché, quando esse verranno a mancare, vi ricevano nelle dimore eterne. |
| 10 | He that is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much: and he that is unrighteous in a very little is unrighteous also in much. | Chi è fedele nel poco, è fedele anche nel molto; e chi è ingiusto nel poco, è ingiusto anche nel molto. |
| 11 | If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true [riches]? | Se dunque voi non siete stati fedeli nelle ricchezze ingiuste, chi vi affiderà le vere? |
| 12 | And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another`s, who will give you that which is your own? | E se non siete stati fedeli nelle ricchezze altrui, chi vi darà le vostre? |
| 13 | No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. | Nessun servo può servire a due padroni; perché o odierà l'uno e amerà l'altro, o si affezionerà all'uno e disprezzerà l'altro; voi non potete servire a Dio e a mammona. |
| 14 | And the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things; and they scoffed at him. | Or i farisei, che erano amanti del denaro, udivano tutte queste cose e si beffavano di lui. |
| 15 | And he said unto them, Ye are they that justify yourselves in the sight of men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God. | Ed egli disse loro: Voi siete quelli che giustificate voi stessi davanti agli uomini, ma Dio conosce i vostri cuori; poiché ciò che è grandemente stimato tra gli uomini è cosa abominevole davanti a Dio. |
| 16 | The law and the prophets [were] until John: from that time the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached, and every man entereth violently into it. | La legge e i profeti arrivano fino a Giovanni; da allora in poi il regno di Dio è annunziato e ognuno si sforza di entrarvi. |
| 17 | But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tittle of the law to fall. | Ma è più facile che passino il cielo e la terra, piuttosto che cada un sol apice della legge. |
| 18 | Every one that putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth one that is put away from a husband committeth adultery. | Chiunque manda via la propria moglie e ne sposa un'altra, commette adulterio; e chiunque sposa una donna mandata via dal marito, commette adulterio. |
| 19 | Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, faring sumptuously every day: | Or vi era un uomo ricco, che si vestiva di porpora e bisso, e ogni giorno se la godeva splendidamente. |
| 20 | and a certain beggar named Lazarus was laid at his gate, full of sores, | Vi era anche un mendicante chiamato Lazzaro, che giaceva alla sua porta tutto coperto di piaghe ulcerose |
| 21 | and desiring to be fed with the [crumbs] that fell from the rich man`s table; yea, even the dogs come and licked his sores. | e desiderava saziarsi delle briciole che cadevano dalla tavola del ricco, e perfino i cani venivano a leccare le sue piaghe. |
| 22 | And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels into Abraham`s bosom: and the rich man also died, and was buried. | Or avvenne che il mendicante morì e fu portato dagli angeli nel seno di Abrahamo; morì anche il ricco e fu sepolto. |
| 23 | And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. | E, essendo tra i tormenti nell'inferno, alzò gli occhi e vide da lontano Abrahamo e Lazzaro nel suo seno. |
| 24 | And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame. | Allora, gridando, disse: "Padre Abrahamo, abbi pietà di me, e manda Lazzaro a intingere nell'acqua la punta del dito per rinfrescarmi la lingua, perché soffro terribilmente in questa fiamma |
| 25 | But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things: but now here he is comforted and thou art in anguish. | Ma Abrahamo disse: "Figlio, ricordati che tu hai ricevuto i tuoi beni durante la tua vita e Lazzaro similmente i mali; ora invece egli è consolato e tu soffri. |
| 26 | And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that they that would pass from hence to you may not be able, and that none may cross over from thence to us. | Oltre a tutto ciò, fra noi e voi è posto un grande baratro, in modo tale che coloro che vorrebbero da qui passare a voi non possono; così pure nessuno può passare di là a noi |
| 27 | And he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father`s house; | Ma quello disse: "Ti prego dunque, o padre, di mandarlo a casa di mio padre, |
| 28 | for I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. | perché io ho cinque fratelli, affinché li avverta severamente, e così non vengano anch'essi in questo luogo di tormento. |
| 29 | But Abraham saith, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. | Abrahamo rispose: "hanno Mosè e i profeti, ascoltino quelli". |
| 30 | And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one go to them from the dead, they will repent. | Quello disse: "No, padre Abrahamo, ma se qualcuno dai morti andrà da loro, si ravvederanno". |
| 31 | And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if one rise from the dead. | Allora egli gli disse: "se non ascoltano Mosè e i profeti, non crederanno neppure se uno risuscitasse dai morti". |
