Jonas descendit au fond du navire, se coucha, et s'endormit profondément. | Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. Lève-toi, invoque ton Dieu ; peut-être Dieu pensera-t-il à nous, et nous ne périrons point ! Quel est ton pays, et de quel peuple es-tu ? | Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou? | Alors ils lui dirent : "Dis-nous donc à cause de qui nous arrive ce mal; quelle est ta profession, d'où viens-tu, quel est ton pays et de quel peuple es-tu ? | Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; what is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou? |

Car ces hommes savaient qu'il fuyait loin de la face de l'Éternel, parce qu'il le leur avait déclaré. | Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him. Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. | Les hommes furent saisis d'une grande crainte, et ils lui dirent : "Qu'as-tu fait ! "Car les hommes savaient qu'il s'enfuyait loin de la face de Yahweh, parce qu'il le leur avait déclaré. | Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, What is this that thou hast done? For the men knew that he was fleeing from the presence of Jehovah, because he had told them. |
| 11 | Ils lui dirent : Que te ferons-nous, pour que la mer se calme envers nous ? Car toi, Éternel, tu fais ce que tu veux. | Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee. | Alors ils crièrent à Yahweh et dirent : "Ah ! Yahweh, que nous ne périssions pas pour l'âme de cet homme, et ne nous chargez pas d'un sang innocent; car c'est vous, Yahweh, qui avez fait comme il vous a plu." | Wherefore they cried unto Jehovah, and said, We beseech thee, O Jehovah, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man`s life, and lay not upon us innocent blood; for thou, O Jehovah, hast done as it pleased thee. |
