| 2 | Lève-toi, et t'en va à Ninive, la grande ville, et tonne contre elle; car leur malice est montée jusqu'à moi. | Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. | Lèvati va' a Ninive, la grande città e predica contro di lei, perché la loro malvagità è salita davanti a me. |
| 3 | Mais Jonas se leva pour s'enfuir en Tarsis, de devant la face de l'Eternel, et descendit à Japho, où il trouva un navire qui allait en Tarsis; et ayant payé le port, il y entra, pour aller avec eux en Tarsis, de devant la face de l'Eternel. | But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of Jehovah; and he went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of Jehovah. | Ma Giona si levò per fuggire a Tarshish, lontano dalla presenza dell'Eterno. Così scese a Giaffa, dove trovò una nave che andava a Tarshish. Pagò il prezzo stabilito e s'imbarcò per andare con loro a Tarshish, lontano dalla presenza dell'Eterno. |
| 4 | Mais l'Eternel éleva un grand vent sur la mer, et il y eut une grande tourmente en la mer, de sorte que le navire se pensa rompre. | But Jehovah sent out a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. | Ma l'Eterno scatenò un forte vento sul mare e si levò una grande tempesta sul mare, sicché la nave minacciava di sfasciarsi. |
| 5 | Et les mariniers eurent peur, et ils crièrent chacun à son Dieu, et jetèrent dans la mer la charge du navire pour l'en décharger; mais Jonas était descendu au fond du navire, et y était couché, et il dormait profondément. | Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god; and they cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it unto them. But Jonah was gone down into the innermost parts of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep. | I marinai spaventati, gridarono ciascuno al proprio dio e gettarono in mare il carico che era sulla nave per alleggerirla. Intanto Giona era sceso nelle parti più recondite della nave, si era coricato e dormiva profondamente. |
| 6 | Alors le maître pilote s'approcha de lui, et lui dit: Qu'as-tu, dormeur? Lève-toi, crie à ton Dieu; il pensera, peut-être, à nous, et nous ne périrons point. | So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not. | Il capitano gli si avvicinò e gli disse: Che fai così profondamente addormentato? Alzati, invoca il tuo DIO! Forse DIO si darà pensiero di noi e non periremo. |
| 7 | Puis ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: Venez, et jetons le sort afin que nous sachions à cause de qui ce mal nous est arrivé. Ils jetèrent donc le sort, et le sort tomba sur Jonas. | And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah. | Poi si dissero l'un l'altro: Venite gettiamo le sorti per sapere a causa di chi ci è venuta addosso questa sciagura. Così gettarono le sorti e la sorte cadde su Giona. |
| 8 | Alors ils lui dirent: Déclare-nous maintenant, pourquoi ce mal-ici nous est arrivé, quel est ton métier, et d'où tu viens; quel est ton pays, et de quel peuple tu es. | Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; what is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou? | Allora gli chiesero: Spiegaci dunque per causa di chi ci è venuta addosso questa sciagura. Qual è il tuo mestiere? Da dove vieni? Qual è il tuo paese? A quale popolo appartieni?. |
| 9 | Et il leur dit: Je suis Hébreu, et je crains l'Eternel, le Dieu des cieux, qui a fait la mer et le sec. | And he said unto them, I am a Hebrew; and I fear Jehovah, the God of heaven, who hath made the sea and the dry land. | Egli rispose loro: Io sono un Ebreo e temo l'Eterno il DIO del cielo, che ha fatto il mare e la terra ferma. |
| 10 | Alors ces hommes furent saisis d'une grande crainte, et lui dirent: Pourquoi as-tu fait cela? Car ces hommes avaient entendu qu'il s'enfuyait de devant la face de l'Eternel, parce qu'il le leur avait déclaré. | Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, What is this that thou hast done? For the men knew that he was fleeing from the presence of Jehovah, because he had told them. | Allora quegli uomini furono presi da grande spavento e gli dissero: Perché hai fatto questo?. Essi infatti si erano resi conto che egli fuggiva lontano dalla presenza dell'Eterno perché lo aveva loro detto. |
| 11 | Et ils lui dirent: Que te ferons-nous afin que la mer se calme, nous laissant en paix? Car la mer se tourmentait de plus en plus. | Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea grew more and more tempestuous. | Essi gli dissero: Cosa dobbiamo farti perché il mare si calmi per noi?. Il mare infatti si faceva sempre più tempestoso. |
| 12 | Et il leur répondit: Prenez-moi, et me jetez dans la mer, et la mer s'apaisera, vous laissant en paix; car je connais que cette grande tourmente est venue sur vous à cause de moi. | And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you. | Egli rispose loro: Prendetemi e gettatemi in mare e il mare si calmerà per voi, perché io so che questa grande tempesta vi è venuta addosso per causa mia. |
| 13 | Et ces hommes voguaient pour relâcher à terre, mais ils ne pouvaient, parce que la mer s'agitait de plus en plus. | Nevertheless the men rowed hard to get them back to the land; but they could not: for the sea grew more and more tempestuous against them. | Tuttavia quegli uomini remavano con forza per riportare la nave a terra, ma non riuscivano, perché il mare si faceva sempre più tempestoso contro di loro. |
| 14 | Ils crièrent donc à l'Eternel, et dirent: Eternel, nous te prions que nous ne périssions point maintenant à cause de l'âme de cet homme-ci, et ne mets point sur nous le sang innocent; car tu es l'Eternel, tu en as fait comme il t'a plu. | Wherefore they cried unto Jehovah, and said, We beseech thee, O Jehovah, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man`s life, and lay not upon us innocent blood; for thou, O Jehovah, hast done as it pleased thee. | Perciò gridarono all'Eterno e dissero: Deh, o Eterno, non lasciare che periamo per la vita di questo uomo e non renderci colpevoli di sangue innocente, perché tu, o Eterno, hai fatto come hai voluto. |
| 15 | Alors ils prirent Jonas, et le jetèrent dans la mer, et la tourmente de la mer s'arrêta. | So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea; and the sea ceased from its raging. | Quindi presero Giona e lo gettarono in mare, e la furia del mare si calmò. |
| 16 | Et ces gens-là craignirent l'Eternel d'une grande crainte, et ils offrirent des sacrifices à l'Eternel, et vouèrent des voeux. | Then the men feared Jehovah exceedingly; and they offered a sacrifice unto Jehovah, and made vows. | Quegli uomini allora, presi da un gran timore dell'Eterno, offrirono un sacrificio all'Eterno e fecero voti. |
| 17 | Or l'Eternel avait préparé un grand poisson pour engloutir Jonas; et Jonas demeura dans le ventre du poisson trois jours et trois nuits. | And Jehovah prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah; and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. | Ora l'Eterno aveva preparato un grosso pesce perché inghiottisse Giona; e Giona fu nel ventre del pesce tre giorni e tre notti. |
