| 1 | Et la parole de l'Éternel vint à Jonas, fils d'Amitthaï, disant: | Now the word of Jehovah came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, | E la parola dell'Eterno fu rivolta a Giona, figlio di Amittai, dicendo: |
| 2 | Lève-toi, va à Ninive, la grande ville, et crie contre elle, car leur méchanceté est montée devant moi. | Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. | Lèvati va' a Ninive, la grande città e predica contro di lei, perché la loro malvagità è salita davanti a me. |
| 3 | Et Jonas se leva pour s'enfuir à Tarsis, de devant la face de l'Éternel; et il descendit à Joppé et trouva un navire allant à Tarsis; et ayant donné le prix de sa place, il y descendit pour aller avec eux à Tarsis, de devant la face de l'Éternel. | But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of Jehovah; and he went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of Jehovah. | Ma Giona si levò per fuggire a Tarshish, lontano dalla presenza dell'Eterno. Così scese a Giaffa, dove trovò una nave che andava a Tarshish. Pagò il prezzo stabilito e s'imbarcò per andare con loro a Tarshish, lontano dalla presenza dell'Eterno. |
| 4 | Et l'Éternel envoya un grand vent sur la mer; et il y eut une grande tempête sur la mer, de sorte que le navire semblait vouloir se briser. | But Jehovah sent out a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. | Ma l'Eterno scatenò un forte vento sul mare e si levò una grande tempesta sul mare, sicché la nave minacciava di sfasciarsi. |
| 5 | Et les marins eurent peur et crièrent chacun à son dieu; et ils jetèrent dans la mer les objets qui étaient dans le navire, pour l'en alléger. Et Jonas était descendu au fond du vaisseau et s'était couché, et dormait profondément. | Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god; and they cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it unto them. But Jonah was gone down into the innermost parts of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep. | I marinai spaventati, gridarono ciascuno al proprio dio e gettarono in mare il carico che era sulla nave per alleggerirla. Intanto Giona era sceso nelle parti più recondite della nave, si era coricato e dormiva profondamente. |
| 6 | Et le maître des rameurs s'approcha de lui, et lui dit: Que fais-tu, dormeur? Lève-toi, crie à ton Dieu! Peut-être Dieu pensera-t-il à nous, et nous ne périrons pas. | So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not. | Il capitano gli si avvicinò e gli disse: Che fai così profondamente addormentato? Alzati, invoca il tuo DIO! Forse DIO si darà pensiero di noi e non periremo. |
| 7 | Et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: Venez, jetons le sort, afin que nous sachions à cause de qui ce malheur nous arrive. Et ils jetèrent le sort, et le sort tomba sur Jonas. | And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah. | Poi si dissero l'un l'altro: Venite gettiamo le sorti per sapere a causa di chi ci è venuta addosso questa sciagura. Così gettarono le sorti e la sorte cadde su Giona. |
| 8 | Et ils lui dirent: Déclare-nous à cause de qui ce mal nous est arrivé? Quelle est ton occupation? et d'où viens-tu? Quel est ton pays, et de quel peuple es-tu? | Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; what is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou? | Allora gli chiesero: Spiegaci dunque per causa di chi ci è venuta addosso questa sciagura. Qual è il tuo mestiere? Da dove vieni? Qual è il tuo paese? A quale popolo appartieni?. |
| 9 | Et il leur dit: Je suis Hébreu, et je crains l'Éternel, le Dieu des cieux, qui a fait la mer et la terre. | And he said unto them, I am a Hebrew; and I fear Jehovah, the God of heaven, who hath made the sea and the dry land. | Egli rispose loro: Io sono un Ebreo e temo l'Eterno il DIO del cielo, che ha fatto il mare e la terra ferma. |
| 10 | Et les hommes eurent une grande frayeur, et ils lui dirent: Qu'est-ce que tu as fait? Car les hommes savaient qu'il s'enfuyait de devant la face de l'Éternel, car il le leur avait déclaré. | Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, What is this that thou hast done? For the men knew that he was fleeing from the presence of Jehovah, because he had told them. | Allora quegli uomini furono presi da grande spavento e gli dissero: Perché hai fatto questo?. Essi infatti si erano resi conto che egli fuggiva lontano dalla presenza dell'Eterno perché lo aveva loro detto. |
| 11 | Et ils lui dirent: Que te ferons-nous, afin que la mer s'apaise pour nous? car la mer allait grossissant toujours. | Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea grew more and more tempestuous. | Essi gli dissero: Cosa dobbiamo farti perché il mare si calmi per noi?. Il mare infatti si faceva sempre più tempestoso. |
| 12 | Et il leur dit: Prenez-moi et jetez-moi à la mer, et la mer s'apaisera pour vous; car je sais que c'est à cause de moi que cette grosse tempête est venue sur vous. | And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you. | Egli rispose loro: Prendetemi e gettatemi in mare e il mare si calmerà per voi, perché io so che questa grande tempesta vi è venuta addosso per causa mia. |
| 13 | Mais les hommes ramèrent pour regagner la terre; et ils ne purent pas, car la mer allait toujours grossissant contre eux. | Nevertheless the men rowed hard to get them back to the land; but they could not: for the sea grew more and more tempestuous against them. | Tuttavia quegli uomini remavano con forza per riportare la nave a terra, ma non riuscivano, perché il mare si faceva sempre più tempestoso contro di loro. |
| 14 | Et ils crièrent à l'Éternel, et dirent: Ah, Éternel! que nous ne périssions pas, nous t'en prions, à cause de la vie de cet homme; et ne mets pas sur nous du sang innocent; car toi, Éternel, tu as fait comme il t'a plu. | Wherefore they cried unto Jehovah, and said, We beseech thee, O Jehovah, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man`s life, and lay not upon us innocent blood; for thou, O Jehovah, hast done as it pleased thee. | Perciò gridarono all'Eterno e dissero: Deh, o Eterno, non lasciare che periamo per la vita di questo uomo e non renderci colpevoli di sangue innocente, perché tu, o Eterno, hai fatto come hai voluto. |
| 15 | Et ils prirent Jonas et le jetèrent à la mer; et la fureur de la mer s'arrêta. | So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea; and the sea ceased from its raging. | Quindi presero Giona e lo gettarono in mare, e la furia del mare si calmò. |
| 16 | Et les hommes craignirent beaucoup l'Éternel, et offrirent un sacrifice à l'Éternel, et firent des voeux. | Then the men feared Jehovah exceedingly; and they offered a sacrifice unto Jehovah, and made vows. | Quegli uomini allora, presi da un gran timore dell'Eterno, offrirono un sacrificio all'Eterno e fecero voti. |
| 17 | (2:1) Et l'Éternel prépara un grand poisson pour engloutir Jonas; et Jonas fut dans les entrailles du poisson trois jours et trois nuits. | And Jehovah prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah; and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. | Ora l'Eterno aveva preparato un grosso pesce perché inghiottisse Giona; e Giona fu nel ventre del pesce tre giorni e tre notti. |
