| 2 | Oh! qui me donnera dans le désert une cabane de voyageur! et j'abandonnerais mon peuple et je m'en irais d'avec eux; car ils sont tous des adultères, une assemblée de perfides. | Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men. | Oh, avessi nel deserto un rifugio per viandanti! | 5 | Et chacun d'eux trompe son ami, et ne dit pas la vérité; ils ont enseigné leur langue à dire le mensonge, ils se fatiguent à faire le mal. | And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity. | Ognuno inganna il suo vicino e non dicono la verità; esercitano la loro lingua a mentire e si affaticano a fare il male. |
| 6 | Ton habitation est au milieu de la tromperie; à cause de la tromperie ils refusent de me connaître, dit l'Éternel. | Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD. | La tua dimora è in mezzo all'inganno e per inganno rifiutano di conoscermi, dice l'Eterno. |
| 7 | C'est pourquoi, ainsi dit l'Éternel des armées: Voici, je vais les affiner et les éprouver; car comment agirais-je à l'égard de la fille de mon peuple? | Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people? | Perciò così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: Ecco, io li raffinerò e li saggerò. | 8 | Leur langue est une flèche mortelle, elle profère la tromperie; de sa bouche il parle de paix avec son ami, mais au dedans il lui dresse des embûches. | Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait. | La loro lingua è una freccia micidiale; essa non dice che menzogne. Con la bocca ognuno parla di pace al suo vicino, ma nel suo cuore sta in agguato. |
| 9 | Ne les punirais-je pas à cause de ces choses? dit l'Éternel; mon âme ne se vengerait-elle pas d'une nation comme celle-là? | Shall I not visit them for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? | Non dovrei forse punirli per queste cose?, dice l'Eterno. Non dovrei vendicarmi di una nazione come questa?. |
| 10 | J'élèverai une voix de pleurs et une lamentation sur les montagnes, et une complainte sur les pâturages du désert, car ils sont brûlés, de sorte que personne n'y passe et qu'on n'y entend pas la voix des troupeaux; tant les oiseaux des cieux que les bêtes ont fui; ils s'en sont allés. | For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone. | Per i monti eleverò pianto e gemito e per i pascoli del deserto un lamento, perché sono bruciati e non vi passa più alcuno, né più si ode il belare delle greggi. Pourquoi le pays périt-il, et est-il brûlé comme un désert, de sorte que personne n'y passe? | Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through? | Qual'è l'uomo saggio che può comprendere queste cose e colui al quale la bocca dell'Eterno ha parlato perché lo annunzi? Perché mai il paese è distrutto e desolato come un deserto e non vi passa più nessuno? |
| 13 | Et l'Éternel dit: Parce qu'ils ont abandonné ma loi que j'avais mise devant eux, et qu'ils n'ont pas écouté ma voix, et parce qu'ils n'ont pas marché en elle, | And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein; | L'Eterno dice: Perché costoro hanno abbandonato la mia legge che avevo posto davanti a loro, non hanno ascoltato la mia voce e non hanno camminato in conformità ad essa, |
| 14 | et qu'ils ont marché suivant le penchant obstiné de leur coeur et après les Baals, ce que leurs pères leur ont enseigné. | But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them: | ma hanno seguito la caparbietà del loro cuore e i Baal, che i loro padri avevano fatto loro conoscere. |
| 15 | C'est pourquoi, ainsi dit l'Éternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: Voici, je vais faire manger de l'absinthe à ce peuple, et je leur ferai boire de l'eau de fiel; | Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink. | Perciò così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti, il DIO d'Israele: Ecco, io nutrirò questo popolo di assenzio e gli farò bere acqua avvelenata. |

| 18 | et quelles se hâtent, et qu'elles élèvent une voix de lamentation sur nous, et que nos yeux se fondent en larmes, et que l'eau coule de nos paupières. | And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters. | Si affrettino a elevare su di noi un lamento affinché i nostri occhi si sciolgano in lacrime e le nostre palpebre versino acqua. |
| 19 | Car une voix de lamentation se fait entendre de Sion: Comme nous sommes détruits, et devenus fort honteux! car nous avons abandonné le pays, car ils ont jeté à bas nos demeures. | For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out. | Poiché una voce di lamento si ode da Sion: Come siamo devastati! | 20 | Vous, femmes, écoutez donc la parole de l'Éternel, et que votre oreille reçoive la parole de sa bouche; et enseignez à vos filles la lamentation, et chacune à son amie la complainte. | Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation. | Perciò ascoltate la parola dell'Eterno, o donne, e il vostro orecchio riceva la parola della sua bocca. Insegnate alle vostre figlie un lamento e ognuna insegni alla sua vicina un canto funebre. |
| 21 | Car la mort est montée par nos fenêtres, elle est entrée dans nos palais, pour retrancher de la rue les petits enfants, et des places, les jeunes hommes. | For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets. | Poiché la morte è salita per le nostre finestre, è entrata nei nostri palazzi per far sparire i bambini dalla strada e i giovani dalle piazze. |
| 22 | Dis: Ainsi dit l'Éternel: Oui, le cadavre de l'homme tombera comme du fumier sur la face des champs, et comme la gerbe après le moissonneur, et il n'y a personne qui la recueille. | Speak, Thus saith the LORD, Even the carcases of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman, and none shall gather them. | Parla: Così dice l'Eterno: "I cadaveri degli uomini giaceranno come letame sull'aperta campagna, come un covone lasciato indietro dal mietitore e che nessuno raccoglie". |
| 23 | Ainsi dit l'Éternel: Que le sage ne se glorifie pas dans sa sagesse, et que l'homme vaillant ne se glorifie pas dans sa vaillance; que le riche ne se glorifie pas dans sa richesse; | Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: | Così dice l'Eterno: Il savio non si glori della sua sapienza, il forte non si glori della sua forza, il ricco non si glori della sua ricchezza. |
| 24 | mais que celui qui se glorifie, se glorifie en ceci, qu'il a de l'intelligence et qu'il me connaît; car je suis l'Éternel, qui use de bonté, de jugement et de justice sur la terre, car je trouve mes délices en ces choses-là, dit l'Éternel. | But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD. | Ma chi si gloria si glori di questo: di aver senno e di conoscere me, che sono l'Eterno, che esercita la benignità, il diritto e la giustizia sulla terra; poiché mi compiaccio in queste cose, dice l'Eterno. |
| 25 | Voici, des jours viennent, dit l'Éternel, et je punirai tous les circoncis avec les incirconcis, | Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised; | Ecco, vengono i giorni, dice l'Eterno, in cui punirò tutti i circoncisi, che sono incirconcisi: |
| 26 | l'Égypte, et Juda, et Édom, et les fils d'Ammon, et Moab, et tous ceux qui coupent les coins de leur barbe, lesquels habitent le désert; car toutes les nations sont incirconcises, et toute la maison d'Israël est incirconcise de coeur. | Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart. | l'Egitto, Giuda, Edom, i figli di Ammon, Moab, e tutti quelli che si tagliano gli angoli della barba e abitano nel deserto; poiché tutte le nazioni sono incirconcise e tutta la casa d'Israele è incirconcisa di cuore. |
