| 2 | Thus saith Jehovah that doeth it, Jehovah that formeth it to establish it; Jehovah is his name: | Così dice l'Eterno che fa questo, l'Eterno che lo forma per stabilirlo il cui nome è l'Eterno: |
| 3 | Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and will show thee great things, and difficult, which thou knowest not. | Invocami e io ti risponderò, e ti annunzierò cose grandi e impenetrabili che tu non conosci. |
| 4 | For thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are broken down [to make a defence] against the mounds and against the sword; | Poiché così dice l'Eterno, il DIO d'Israele, riguardo alle case di questa città e riguardo alle case dei re di Giuda che saranno demolite di fronte ai terrapieni e alla spada. |
| 5 | while [men] come to fight with the Chaldeans, and to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my wrath, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city: | Essi verranno a combattere con i Caldei, ma solo a riempirle di cadaveri di uomini, che io percuoterò nella mia ira e nel mio furore, perché nasconderò la mia faccia da questa città per tutta la loro malvagità. |
| 6 | Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them; and I will reveal unto them abundance of peace and truth. | Ecco, io recherò ad essa benessere e guarigione; li guarirò e svelerò loro l'abbondanza della pace e della verità. |
| 7 | And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first. | Farò tornare gli esuli di Giuda e gli esuli d'Israele e li ristabilirò come al principio. |
| 8 | And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned against me, and whereby they have transgressed against me. | Li purificherò di ogni loro iniquità con la quale hanno peccato contro di me e perdonerò tutte le loro iniquità con le quali hanno peccato e con le quali si sono ribellati contro di me. |
| 9 | And [this city] shall be to me for a name of joy, for a praise and for a glory, before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them, and shall fear and tremble for all the good and for all the peace that I procure unto it. | E questa città sarà per me un titolo di gioia, di lode e di gloria davanti a tutte le nazioni della terra, quando verranno a sapere di tutto il bene che io faccio loro; e temeranno e tremeranno a motivo di tutto il bene e di tutta la pace che io procurerò a lei. |
| 10 | Thus saith Jehovah: Yet again there shall be heard in this place, whereof ye say, It is waste, without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast, | Così dice l'Eterno: In questo luogo, di cui voi dite: E' una desolazione, senza più uomo o bestia nelle città di Giuda e per le vie di Gerusalemme che sono desolate, senza più né uomo né abitante né bestia, si udranno ancora |
| 11 | the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that say, Give thanks to Jehovah of hosts, for Jehovah is good, for his lovingkindness [endureth] for ever; [and of them] that bring [sacrifices of] thanksgiving into the house of Jehovah. For I will cause the captivity of the land to return as at the first, saith Jehovah. | grida di gioia e grida di allegrezza, la voce dello sposo e la voce della sposa, la voce di quelli che dicono: Celebrate l'Eterno degli eserciti, poiché l'Eterno è buono, perché la sua benignità dura in eterno e di quelli che portano offerte di ringraziamento nella casa dell'Eterno. Poiché io farò tornare gli esuli del paese e lo ristabilirò come al principio, dice l'Eterno. |
| 12 | Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Yet again shall there be in this place, which is waste, without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down. | Così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: In questo luogo che è una desolazione, senza più uomo o bestia, e in tutte le sue città vi saranno ancora delle dimore di pastori che faranno riposare le loro greggi. |
| 13 | In the cities of the hill-country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks again pass under the hands of him that numbereth them, saith Jehovah. | Nelle città della regione montuosa nelle città della pianura, nelle città dei Neghev, nel paese di Beniamino, nei dintorni di Gerusalemme e nelle città di Giuda, le pecore passeranno ancora sotto la mano di colui che le conta, dice l'Eterno. |
| 14 | Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will perform that good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and concerning the house of Judah. | Ecco, verranno i giorni, dice l'Eterno, nei quali io manderò ad effetto la buona parola che ho pronunciato riguardo alla casa d'Israele e riguardo alla casa di Giuda. |
| 15 | In those days, and at that time, will I cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. | In quei giorni e in quel tempo farò germogliare per Davide un germoglio di giustizia, che eserciterà giudizio e giustizia nel paese. |
| 16 | In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely; and this is [the name] whereby she shall be called: Jehovah our righteousness. | In quei giorni Giuda sarà salvato e Gerusalemme abiterà al sicuro. Questo sarà il nome con cui sarà chiamata: "L'Eterno, nostra giustizia. |
| 17 | For thus saith Jehovah: David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel; | Infatti così dice l'Eterno: Non verrà mai meno a Davide chi segga sul trono della casa d'Israele, |
| 18 | neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt-offerings, and to burn meal-offerings, and to do sacrifice continually. | e ai sacerdoti Leviti non verrà mai meno davanti a me chi offra olocausti, faccia fumare le offerte di cibo e compia sacrifici tutti i giorni. |
| 19 | And the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah, saying, | La parola dell'Eterno fu rivolta a Geremia, dicendo: |
| 20 | Thus saith Jehovah: If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, so that there shall not be day and night in their season; | Così dice l'Eterno: Se voi potete annullare il mio patto con il giorno e il patto con la notte, in modo che non ci sia più giorno o notte al loro tempo, |
| 21 | then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he shall not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers. | allora si potrà anche annullare il mio patto con Davide mio servo, in modo che non abbia un figlio che regni sul suo trono, e con i sacerdoti Leviti, miei ministri. |
| 22 | As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured; so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me. | Come non si può contare l'esercito del cielo né misurare la sabbia del mare, così io moltiplicherò i discendenti di Davide, mio servo, e i Leviti che mi servono. |
| 23 | And the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah, saying, | La parola dell'Eterno fu ancora rivolta a Geremia, dicendo: |
| 24 | Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which Jehovah did choose, he hath cast them off? thus do they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them. | Non hai fatto attenzione a ciò che questo popolo ha affermato, dicendo: "Le due famiglie che l'Eterno aveva scelto, le ha rigettate"? Così disprezzano il mio popolo, che ai loro occhi non è più una nazione. |
| 25 | Thus saith Jehovah: If my covenant of day and night [stand] not, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth; | Così dice l'Eterno: Se io non ho stabilito il mio patto con il giorno e con la notte e se non ho fissato le leggi del cielo e della terra, |
| 26 | then will I also cast away the seed of Jacob, and of David my servant, so that I will not take of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and will have mercy on them. | allora rigetterò anche la discendenza di Giacobbe e di Davide, mio servo, e non prenderò più dalla sua discendenza i reggitori della progenie di Abrahamo di Isacco e di Giacobbe. Ma io farò ritornare i loro esuli e avrò compassione di loro. |
