| 1 | Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. | Guai ai pastori che distruggono e disperdono il gregge del mio pascolo, dice l'Eterno. |
| 2 | Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD. | Perciò così dice l'Eterno, il DIO d'Israele, contro i pastori che pascolano il mio popolo: Voi avete disperso le mie pecore, le avete scacciate e non ne avete avuto cura; ecco, io vi punirò per la malvagità delle vostre azioni, dice l'Eterno. |
| 3 | And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. | Ma radunerò il resto delle mie pecore da tutti i paesi dove le ho disperse e le ricondurrò ai loro pascoli, e saranno feconde e si moltiplicheranno. |
| 4 | And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD. | Costituirò su di esse pastori che le pascoleranno, e non avranno più paura né spavento; non ne mancherà neppure una, dice l'Eterno. |
| 5 | Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. | Ecco, i giorni vengono, dice l'Eterno nei quali susciterò a Davide un germoglio giusto, che regnerà da re, prospererà, ed eserciterà il giudizio e la giustizia ne paese. |
| 6 | In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. | Nei suoi giorni Giuda sarà salvato e Israele dimorerà al sicuro. Questo sarà il nome con cui sarà chiamato: "L'Eterno nostra giustizia" |

| 8 | But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land. | ma: "Per l'Eterno vivente che ha fatto uscire e ha ricondotto la progenie della casa d'Israele dal paese del nord e da tutti i paesi dove io li avevo dispersi" ed essi dimoreranno nel loro paese. |
| 9 | Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the LORD, and because of the words of his holiness. | Il mio cuore è rotto dentro di me a motivo dei profeti, tutte le mie ossa tremano. Sono come un ubriaco, come un uomo sopraffatto dal vino, a causa dell'Eterno e a causa delle sue parole sante. |
| 10 | For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right. | Poiché il paese è pieno di adulteri, a causa della maledizione il paese è in lutto, i pascoli del deserto sono inariditi. La loro corsa è perversa e la loro forza non è retta. |
| 11 | For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD. | Tanto il sacerdote che il profeta sono corrotti; sì, ho trovato la loro malvagità nella mia stessa casa. dice l'Eterno. |
| 12 | Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith the LORD. | Perciò la loro strada sarà per loro come sentieri sdrucciolevoli; essi saranno sospinti nelle tenebre e in esse cadranno, perché farò venire su di loro la calamità nell'anno della loro punizione, dice l'Eterno. |
| 13 | And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err. | Tra i profeti di Samaria, ho visto stupidità: profetizzavano in nome di Baal, e traviavano il mio popolo Israele. |
| 14 | I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness; they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah. | Anche tra i profeti di Gerusalemme ho visto cose nefande: commettono adulteri, camminano con falsità, rafforzano le mani dei malfattori, e così nessuno si converte dalla sua malvagità. Per me sono tutti come Sodoma e i suoi abitanti come Gomorra. |
| 15 | Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land. | Perciò così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti riguardo ai profeti: Ecco io li nutrirò di assenzio e farò loro bere acqua avvelenata, perché dai profeti di Gerusalemme l'empietà si è sparsa per tutto il paese. |
| 16 | Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD. | Così dice l'Eterno degli eserciti: Non ascoltate le parole dei profeti che vi profetizzano. Essi vi fanno diventare spregevoli; vi espongono le visioni del loro cuore e non ciò che procede dalla bocca dell'Eterno. |
| 17 | They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you. | Dicono del continuo a quelli che mi disprezzano: "L'Eterno ha detto: Avrete pace" e a tutti quelli che camminano nella caparbietà del proprio cuore: "Nessun male verrà su di voi" |
| 18 | For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it? | Ma chi ha assistito al consiglio dell'Eterno? Chi ha visto, chi ha udito la sua parola? Chi ha prestato attenzione alla sua parola e l'ha udita? |
| 19 | Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked. | Ecco, la tempesta dell'Eterno si scatena furiosamente, una tempesta spaventevole si abbatterà sul capo degli empi. |
| 20 | The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly. | L'ira dell'Eterno non si acqueterà finché non abbia eseguito e compiuto i disegni del suo cuore; negli ultimi giorni lo capirete perfettamente. |
| 21 | I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. | Io non ho mandato quei profeti; ma essi sono corsi; non ho parlato loro ma essi hanno profetizzato. |
| 22 | But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. | Ma se avessero assistito al mio consiglio, allora avrebbero fatto udire le mie parole al mio popolo, e così li avrebbero fatti allontanare dalla loro cattiva via e dalla malvagità delle loro azioni. |
| 23 | Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? | Sono io soltanto un DIO da vicino, dice l'Eterno e non anche un DIO da lontano? |
| 24 | Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. | Potrebbe uno nascondersi nei nascondigli senza che io lo veda?, dice l'Eterno. Non riempio io il cielo e la terra?, dice l'Eterno. |
| 25 | I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. | Ho udito ciò che dicono i profeti che profetizzano menzogne nel mio nome, dicendo: "Ho avuto un sogno, ho avuto un sogno!". |
| 26 | How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; | Fino a quando durerà questo nel cuore di questi profeti che profetizzano menzogne e profetizzano l'inganno del loro cuore? |
| 27 | Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal. | Essi pensano di far dimenticare il mio nome al mio popolo con i loro sogni che si raccontano l'un l'altro, come i loro padri dimenticarono il mio nome per Baal, |
| 28 | The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. | 30 | Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour. | Perciò ecco, dice l'Eterno, io sono contro i profeti che rubano gli uni agli altri le mie parole. |
| 31 | Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith. | Ecco. dice l'Eterno, io sono contro i profeti che usano la loro lingua e dicono: Egli dice |
| 32 | Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD. | Ecco, io sono contro quelli che profetizzano sogni falsi, dice l'Eterno, e li raccontano e traviano il mio popolo con le loro menzogne e con le loro millanterie, benché io non li abbia mandati né abbia dato loro alcun ordine; perciò non saranno di alcuna utilità a questo popolo, dice l'Eterno. |
| 33 | And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the LORD. | Se pertanto questo popolo o un profeta o un sacerdote ti domanderà, dicendo: "Qual'è l'oracolo dell'Eterno?" tu risponderai loro: Quale oracolo? Io vi rigetterò, dice l'Eterno. |
| 34 | And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the LORD, I will even punish that man and his house. | Quanto poi al profeta, al sacerdote o al popolo che dirà: "Oracolo dell'Eterno io punirò quel tale e la sua casa. |
| 35 | Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the LORD answered? and, What hath the LORD spoken? | Così direte, ognuno al proprio vicino e ognuno al proprio fratello: Che cosa ha risposto l'Eterno? e Che cosa ha detto l'Eterno? |
| 36 | And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God. | Ma l'oracolo dell'Eterno non lo menzionerete più, perché la parola di ciascuno sarà il suo oracolo, perché avete distorto le parole del DIO vivente l'Eterno degli eserciti, il nostro DIO. |
| 37 | Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken? | Così dirai al profeta: "Che cosa ti ha risposto l'Eterno?" e "Che cosa ha detto l'Eterno?" |
| 38 | But since ye say, The burden of the LORD; therefore thus saith the LORD; Because ye say this word, The burden of the LORD, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the LORD; | Ma se dite ancora: "Oracolo dell'Eterno" allora così dice l'Eterno: Poiché dite questa parola: "Oracolo dell'Eterno" anche se io vi avevo mandato a dire: Non dite più: "Oracolo dell'Eterno" |
| 39 | Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence: | ecco, io mi dimenticherò interamente di voi e vi getterò lontano dalla mia faccia, voi e la città che avevo dato a voi e ai vostri padri, |
| 40 | And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten. | e vi coprirò di un obbrobrio eterno e di una eterna vergogna, che non saranno mai dimenticati. |
