| 1 | La parole de Jéhovah me fut adressée en ces termes : | The word of Jehovah came also unto me, saying, |
| 2 | Tu ne prendras point de femme Et tu n'auras point de fils ni de filles en ce lieu. | Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons or daughters, in this place. |
| 3 | Car ainsi parle Jéhovah touchant les fils et les filles qui naissent en ce lieu, Les mères qui les enfantent- Et les pères qui les engendrent en ce pays : | For thus saith Jehovah concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bare them, and concerning their fathers that begat them in this land: |
| 4 | Ils mourront de maladies mortelles; On ne leur donnera ni larmes ni sépulture; Ils seront du fumier sur le sol; Ils périront par l'épée et la famine, Et leurs cadavres seront la pâture Des oiseaux du ciel et des bêtes de la terre. | They shall die grievous deaths: they shall not be lamented, neither shall they be buried; they shall be as dung upon the face of the ground; and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their dead bodies shall be food for the birds of the heavens, and for the beasts of the earth. |
| 5 | Car ainsi parle Jéhovah : N'entre pas dans la maison de deuil; Ne va point pleurer et te lamenter avec eux; Car j'ai retiré à ce peuple ma paix, dit Jéhovah, Ma grâce et ma compassion. | For thus saith Jehovah, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament, neither bemoan them; for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith Jehovah, even lovingkindness and tender mercies. |
| 6 | Grands et petits mourront dans ce pays; Ils n'auront point de sépulture et ne seront pas pleurés; On ne se fera point d'incisions, On ne se rasera point pour eux. | Both great and small shall die in this land; they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them; |
| 7 | On ne leur rompra point le pain du deuil Pour les consoler au sujet d'un mort, Et on ne leur offrira pas la coupe de consolation Pour un père et pour une mère. | neither shall men break [bread] for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother. |
| 8 | Ne va pas dans la maison du festin pour t'asseoir avec eux, Pour manger et pour boire; | And thou shalt not go into the house of feasting to sit with them, to eat and to drink. |
| 9 | Car ainsi parle Jéhovah des armées, Dieu d'Israël : Je vais faire cesser en ce lieu, Sous vos yeux et de vos jours, Le cri de joie et le cri d'allégresse, Le chant du fiancé et le chant de la fiancée. | For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place, before your eyes and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride. |
| 10 | Lorsque tu annonceras toutes ces choses à ce peuple, Ils te diront : "Pourquoi Jéhovah nous menace-t-il de tous ces grands malheurs ? Quelle est notre iniquité, Et quel est le péché que nous avons commis Contre Jéhovah, notre Dieu ?" | And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt show this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath Jehovah pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against Jehovah our God? |
| 11 | Et tu leur diras : "C'est que vos pères m'ont abandonné, dit Jéhovah; Ils sont allés après d'autres dieux, Ils les ont servis, ils les ont adorés, Et moi, ils m'ont abandonné, Et n'ont pas observé ma loi. | Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith Jehovah, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law; |
| 12 | Et vous, vous avez fait pis que vos pères, Et voici que chacun de vous suit l'opiniâtreté de son mauvais coeur, Pour ne point m'écouter. | and ye have done evil more than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the stubbornness of his evil heart, so that ye hearken not unto me: |
| 13 | Je vous jetterai hors de ce pays Dans un pays que vous n'aurez pas connu, Ni vous ni vos pères, Et là vous servirez les dieux étrangers nuit et jour; Car je ne vous ferai point grâce." | therefore will I cast you forth out of this land into the land that ye have not known, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; for I will show you no favor. |
| 14 | C'est pourquoi voici, dit Jéhovah, que des jours viennent Où l'on ne dira plus : Jéhovah est vivant, Lui qui a fait monter du pays d'Egypte Les enfants d'Israël : | Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that it shall no more be said, As Jehovah liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; |
| 15 | Mais : Jéhovah est vivant, Lui qui a fait monter les enfants d'Israël Du pays du septentrion Et de tous les pays où il les... avait chassés; Et je les ramènerai dans leur pays Que j'avais donné à leurs pères. | but, As Jehovah liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the countries whither he had driven them. And I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers. |
| 16 | Voici que j'appelle en foule Des pêcheurs pour les pêcher, dit Jéhovah; Et après cela j'appellerai en foule Des chasseurs qui leur donneront la chasse Sur toutes les montagnes, sur toutes les collines Et dans les fentes des rochers. | Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith Jehovah, and they shall fish them up; and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the clefts of the rocks. |
| 17 | Car mes yeux sont sur toutes leurs voies; Elles ne sont pas cachées devant ma face Et leur iniquité ne se dérobe point à mes regards. | For mine eyes are upon all their ways; they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity concealed from mine eyes. |
| 18 | Tout d'abord je leur paierai au double Le salaire de leur iniquité et de leurs péchés, Parce qu'ils ont profané mon pays Par les cadavres de leurs infâmes idoles Et rempli mon héritage de leurs abominations. | And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable things, and have filled mine inheritance with their abominations. |
| 19 | Jéhovah, ma force, mon rempart Et mon refuge au jour de la détresse, Les nations viendront à toi des extrémités de la terre Et diront : Nos Pères n'ont eu en héritage que le mensonge, Des vanités qui ne servent à rien. | O Jehovah, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, unto thee shall the nations come from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Our fathers have inherited nought but lies, [even] vanity and things wherein there is no profit. |
| 20 | Se peut-il qu'un homme se fasse des dieux ? Et ce ne sont pas des dieux! | Shall a man make unto himself gods, which yet are no gods? |
| 21 | C'est pourquoi je vais leur faire connaître ma main et ma puissance, Et ils sauront que mon nom est Jéhovah. | Therefore, behold, I will cause them to know, this once will I cause them to know my hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is Jehovah. |
