| 1 | And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: | Tre giorni dopo, si fecero delle nozze in Cana di Galilea, e la madre di Gesù si trovava là. |
| 2 | And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. | Or anche Gesù fu invitato alle nozze con i suoi discepoli. |
| 3 | And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. | Essendo venuto a mancare il vino, la madre di Gesù gli disse: Non hanno più vino. |
| 4 | Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. | Gesù le disse: Che cosa c'è tra te e me o donna? l'ora mia non è ancora venuta, |
| 5 | His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. | Sua madre disse ai servi: Fate tutto quello che egli vi dirà. |
| 6 | And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. | Or c'erano là sei recipienti di pietra, usati per la purificazione dei Giudei, che contenevano due o tre misure ciascuno. |
| 7 | Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. | Gesù disse loro: Riempite d'acqua i recipienti. Ed essi li riempirono fino all'orlo. |
| 8 | And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. | Poi disse loro: Ora attingete e portatene al maestro della festa. Ed essi gliene portarono. |
| 9 | When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, | E come il maestro della festa assaggiò l'acqua mutata in vino (or egli non sapeva da dove venisse quel vino, ma ben lo sapevano i servi che avevano attinto l'acqua), il maestro della festa chiamò lo sposo, |
| 10 | And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. | e gli disse: Ogni uomo presenta all'inizio il vino migliore e, dopo che gli invitati hanno copiosamente bevuto, il meno buono; tu, invece, hai conservato il buon vino fino ad ora. |
| 11 | This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him. | Gesù fece questo inizio dei segni in Cana di Galilea e manifestò la sua gloria, e i suoi discepoli credettero in lui. |
| 12 | After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days. | Dopo questo, egli discese a Capernaum con sua madre, i suoi fratelli e i suoi discepoli; ed essi rimasero lì pochi giorni. |
| 13 | And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. | Or la Pasqua dei Giudei era vicina, e Gesù salì a Gerusalemme. |
| 14 | And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: | E trovò nel tempio venditori di buoi, di pecore, di colombi, e i cambiamonete seduti; |
| 15 | And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; | fatta quindi una frusta di cordicelle, li scacciò tutti fuori del tempio insieme con i buoi e le pecore, e sparpagliò il denaro dei cambiamonete e ne rovesciò le tavole, |
| 16 | And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. | e ai venditori di colombi disse: Portate via da qui queste cose; non fate della casa del Padre mio una casa di mercato. |
| 17 | And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. | Così i suoi discepoli si ricordarono che stava scritto: Lo zelo della tua casa mi ha divorato. |
| 18 | Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? | Allora i Giudei risposero e gli dissero: Quale segno ci mostri per fare queste cose?. |
| 19 | Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. | Gesù rispose e disse loro: Distruggete questo tempio e in tre giorni io lo ricostruirò. |
| 20 | Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? | Allora i Giudei dissero: Ci son voluti quarantasei anni per edificare questo tempio, e tu lo ricostruiresti in tre giorni?. |
| 21 | But he spake of the temple of his body. | Ma egli parlava del tempio del suo corpo. |
| 22 | When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. | Quando poi egli fu risuscitato dai morti, i suoi discepoli si ricordarono che egli aveva loro detto questo e credettero alla Scrittura e alle parole che Gesù aveva detto. |
| 23 | Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. | Ora, mentre egli si trovava in Gerusalemme alla festa della Pasqua, molti credettero nel suo nome vedendo i segni che faceva, |
| 24 | But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, | ma Gesù non si fidava di loro, perché li conosceva tutti, |
| 25 | And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. | e perché non aveva bisogno che alcuno gli testimoniasse dell'uomo, perché egli conosceva ciò che vi era nell'uomo. Gesù ammaestra Nicodemo sulla nuova nascita |
