| 1 | Je vous ai dit ces choses, afin que vous ne soyez pas scandalisés; | These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be caused to stumble. |
| 2 | Ils vous chasseront des synagogues; et même l'heure vient où quiconque vous fera mourir, croira faire à Dieu un sacrifice agréable. | They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you shall think that he offereth service unto God. |
| 3 | Et ils agiront ainsi, parce qu'ils n'ont connu ni mon Père, ni moi. | And these things will they do, because they have not known the Father, nor me. |
| 4 | Mais je vous l'ai dit afin que, lorsque l'heure sera venue, vous vous souveniez que je vous l'ai annoncé. | But these things have I spoken unto you, that when their hour is come, ye may remember them, how that I told you. And these things I said not unto you from the beginning, because I was with you. |
| 5 | Je ne vous en ai pas parlé dès le commencement, parce que j'étais avec vous. Et maintenant que je m'en vais à celui qui m'a envoyé, aucun de vous ne me demande "Où allez-vous ?" | But now I go unto him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? |
| 6 | Mais parce que je vous ai dit ces choses, la tristesse a rempli votre coeur. | But because I have spoken these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. |
| 7 | Cependant je vous dis la vérité : il vous est bon que je m'en aille; car, si je ne m'en vais pas, le Consolateur ne viendra pas en vous; mais si je m'en vais, je vous l'enverrai. | Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send him unto you. |
| 8 | Et quand il sera venu, il convaincra le monde au sujet du péché, de la justice et du jugement : | And he, when he is come, will convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: |
| 9 | Au sujet du péché, parce qu'ils n'ont pas cru en moi; | of sin, because they believe not on me; |
| 10 | Au sujet de la justice, parce que je vais au Père, et que vous ne me verrez plus; | of righteousness, because I go to the Father, and ye behold me no more; |
| 11 | Au sujet du jugement, parce que le Prince de ce monde est déjà jugé. | of judgment, because the prince of this world hath been judged. |
| 12 | J'ai encore beaucoup de choses à vous dire; mais vous ne pouvez les porter à présent. | I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. |
| 13 | Quand le Consolateur, l'Esprit de vérité, sera venu, il vous guidera dans toute la vérité. Car il ne parlera pas de lui-même, mais il dira tout ce qu'il aura entendu, et il vous annoncera les choses à venir. | Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but what things soever he shall hear, [these] shall he speak: and he shall declare unto you the things that are to come. |
| 14 | Celui-ci me glorifiera, parce qu'il recevra de ce qui est à moi, et il vous l'annoncera. | He shall glorify me: for he shall take of mine, and shall declare [it] unto you. |
| 15 | Tout ce que le Père a, est à moi. C'est pourquoi j'ai dit qu'il recevra ce qui est à moi, et qu'il vous l'annoncera. | All things whatsoever the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he taketh of mine, and shall declare [it] unto you. |
| 16 | Encore un peu de temps, et vous ne me verrez plus; et encore un peu de temps, et vous me verrez, parce que je vais à mon Père." | A little while, and ye behold me no more; and again a little while, and ye shall see me. |
| 17 | Sur quoi, quelques-uns de ses disciples se dirent entre eux : "Que signifie ce qu'il nous dit : Encore un peu de temps, et vous ne me verrez plus; et encore un peu de temps, et vous me verrez, parce que je vais à mon Père ?" | [Some] of his disciples therefore said one to another, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye behold me not; and again a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father? |
| 18 | Ils disaient donc : "Que signifie cet "encore un peu de temps" ? Nous ne savons ce qu'il veut dire." | They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? We know not what he saith. |
| 19 | Jésus connut qu'ils voulaient l'interroger et leur dit : "Vous vous questionnez entre vous sur ce que j'ai dit : Encore un peu de temps et vous ne me verrez plus; et encore un peu de temps, et vous me verrez. | Jesus perceived that they were desirous to ask him, and he said unto them, Do ye inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, A little while, and ye behold me not, and again a little while, and ye shall see me? |
| 20 | En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, vous pleurerez et vous vous lamenterez, tandis que le monde se réjouira; vous serez affligés, mais votre affliction se changera en joie. | Verily, verily, I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. |
| 21 | La femme, lorsqu'elle enfante, est dans la souffrance parce que son heure est venue. Mais lorsqu'elle a donné le jour à l'enfant, elle ne se souvient plus de ses douleurs, dans la joie qu'elle a de ce qu'un homme est né dans le monde. | A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but when she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for the joy that a man is born into the world. |
| 22 | Vous donc, aussi, vous êtes maintenant dans l'affliction; mais je vous reverrai, et votre coeur se réjouira, et nul ne vous ravira votre joie. | And ye therefore now have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one taketh away from you. |
| 23 | En ce jour-là, vous ne m'interrogerez plus sur rien. En vérité, en vérité je vous le dis, tout ce que vous demanderez à mon Père, il vous le donnera en mon nom. | And in that day ye shall ask me no question. Verily, verily, I say unto you, if ye shall ask anything of the Father, he will give it you in my name. |
| 24 | Jusqu'à présent vous n'avez rien demandé en mon nom : demandez, et vous recevrez, afin que votre joie soit parfaite. | Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be made full. |
| 25 | Je vous ai dit ces choses en paraboles. L'heure vient où je ne vous parlerai plus en paraboles, mais je vous parlerai ouvertement du Père. | These things have I spoken unto you in dark sayings: the hour cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in dark sayings, but shall tell you plainly of the Father. |
| 26 | En ce jour-là, vous demanderez en mon nom, et je ne vous dis point que je prierai le Père pour vous. | In that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you; |
| 27 | Car le Père lui-même vous aime, parce que vous m'avez aimé, et que vous avez cru que je suis sorti du Père. | for the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from the Father. |
| 28 | Je suis sorti du Père, et je suis venu dans le monde; maintenant je quitte le monde et je vais au Père." | I came out from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go unto the Father. |
| 29 | Ses disciples lui dirent; "Voilà que vous parlez ouvertement et sans vous servir d'aucune figure. | His disciples say, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no dark saying. |
| 30 | Maintenant nous voyons que vous savez toutes choses, et que vous n'avez pas besoin que personne vous interroge; c'est pourquoi nous croyons que vous êtes sorti de Dieu." | Now know we that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God. |
| 31 | Jésus leur répondit : "Vous croyez à présent…" | Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? |
| 32 | Voici que l'heure vient, et déjà elle est venue, où vous serez dispersés, chacun de son côté, et vous me laisserez seul; pourtant je ne suis pas seul, parce que le Père est avec moi. | Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and [yet] I am not alone, because the Father is with me. |
| 33 | Je vous ai dit ces choses, afin que vous ayez la paix en moi. Vous avez des tribulations dans le monde, mais prenez confiance, j'ai vaincu le monde. | These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. |
