| 2 | In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. | Il y a plusieurs demeures dans la Maison de mon Père; s'il était autrement, je vous l'eusse dit; je vais vous préparer le lieu. |
| 3 | And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. | Et quand je m'en serai allé, et que je vous aurai préparé le lieu, je retournerai, et je vous prendrai avec moi; afin que là où je suis, vous y soyez aussi. |
| 4 | And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. | Et vous savez où je vais, et vous en savez le chemin. |
| 5 | Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? | Thomas lui dit: Seigneur! nous ne savons point où tu vas, comment donc pouvons-nous en savoir le chemin? |
| 6 | Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. | Jésus lui dit: je suis le chemin, et la vérité, et la vie; nul ne vient au Père que par moi. |
| 7 | If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. | Si vous me connaissiez, vous connaîtriez aussi mon Père; mais dès maintenant vous le connaissez, et vous l'avez vu. |
| 8 | Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. | Philippe lui dit: Seigneur! montre-nous le Père, et cela nous suffit. |
| 9 | Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? | Jésus lui répondit: je suis depuis si longtemps avec vous, et tu ne m'as point connu? Philippe, celui qui m'a vu, a vu mon Père; et comment dis-tu: montre-nous le Père? |
| 10 | Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. | Ne crois-tu pas que je suis en mon Père, et que le Père est en moi? les paroles que je vous dis, je ne les dis pas de moi-même; mais le Père qui demeure en moi, est celui qui fait les oeuvres. |
| 11 | Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. | Croyez-moi que je suis en mon Père, et que le Père est en moi, sinon, croyez-moi à cause de ces oeuvres. |
| 12 | Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. | En vérité, en vérité je vous dis, celui qui croit en moi, fera les oeuvres que je fais, et il en fera même de plus grandes que celles-ci, parce que je m'en vais à mon Père. |
| 13 | And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | Et quoi que vous demandiez en mon Nom, je le ferai; afin que le Père soit glorifié par le Fils. |
| 14 | If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. | Si vous demandez en mon Nom quelque chose, je la ferai. |
| 15 | If ye love me, keep my commandments. | Si vous m'aimez, gardez mes commandements. |
| 16 | And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; | Et je prierai le Père, et il vous donnera un autre Consolateur, pour demeurer avec vous éternellement. |
| 17 | Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. | Savoir l'Esprit de vérité, lequel le monde ne peut point recevoir; parce qu'il ne le voit point, et qu'il ne le connaît point; mais vous le connaissez, car il demeure avec vous, et il sera en vous. |
| 18 | I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. | Je ne vous laisserai point orphelins; je viendrai vers vous. |
| 19 | Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. | Encore un peu de temps, et le monde ne me verra plus, mais vous me verrez; et parce que je vis, vous aussi vous vivrez. |
| 20 | At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. | En ce jour-là vous connaîtrez que je suis en mon Père, et vous en moi, et moi en vous. |
| 21 | He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. | Celui qui a mes commandements, et qui les garde, c'est celui qui m'aime; et celui qui m'aime sera aimé de mon Père; je l'aimerai, et je me manifesterai. |
| 22 | Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? | Jude (non pas Iscariot) lui dit: Seigneur! d'où vient que tu te feras connaître à nous, et non pas au monde? |
| 23 | Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. | Jésus répondit, et lui dit: si quelqu'un m'aime il gardera ma parole, et mon Père l'aimera, et nous viendrons à lui, et nous ferons notre demeure chez lui. |
| 24 | He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. | Celui qui ne m'aime point, ne garde point mes paroles. Et la parole que vous entendez n'est point ma parole, mais c'est celle du Père qui m'a envoyé. |
| 25 | These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. | Je vous ai dit ces choses demeurant avec vous. |
| 26 | But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. | Mais le Consolateur, qui est le Saint-Esprit, que le Père enverra en mon Nom, vous enseignera toutes choses, et il vous rappellera le souvenir de toutes les choses que je vous ai dites. |
| 27 | Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. | Je vous laisse la paix, je vous donne ma paix; je ne vous la donne point comme le monde la donne; que votre coeur ne soit point agité ni craintif. |
| 28 | Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. | Vous avez entendu que je vous ai dit: je m'en vais, et je reviens à vous; si vous m'aimiez, vous seriez certes joyeux de ce que j'ai dit: je m'en vais au Père: car le Père est plus grand que moi. |
| 29 | And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. | Et maintenant je vous l'ai dit avant que cela soit arrivé, afin que quand il sera arrivé, vous croyiez. |
| 30 | Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. | Je ne parlerai plus guère avec vous; car le Prince de ce monde vient; mais il n'a aucun empire sur moi. |
| 31 | But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence. | Mais afin que le monde connaisse que j'aime le Père, et que je fais ce que le Père m'a commandé. Levez-vous, partons d'ici. |
