| 1 | Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. | In verità, in verità io vi dico: Chi non entra per la porta nell'ovile delle pecore, ma vi sale da un'altra parte, quello è un ladro e un brigante; |

| 3 | To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. | A lui apre il portinaio; le pecore ascoltano la sua voce, ed egli chiama le sue pecore per nome e le conduce fuori. |
| 4 | When he hath put forth all his own, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. | E, quando ha fatto uscire le sue pecore, va davanti a loro; e le pecore lo seguono, perché conoscono la sua voce. |
| 5 | And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. | Non seguiranno però alcun estraneo ma fuggiranno lontano da lui, perché non conoscono la voce degli estranei. |
| 6 | This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them. | Gesù disse loro questa similitudine ma essi non capirono di che cosa stesse loro parlando. |
| 7 | Jesus therefore said unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. | Perciò Gesù disse loro di nuovo: In verità, in verità vi dico: io sono la porta delle pecore. |
| 8 | All that came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. | Tutti quelli che sono venuti prima di me sono stati ladri e briganti, ma le pecore non li hanno ascoltati. |
| 9 | I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture. | Io sono la porta; se uno entra per mezzo di me sarà salvato; entrerà, uscirà e troverà pascolo. |
| 10 | The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have [it] abundantly. | Il ladro non viene se non per rubare, uccidere e distruggere; ma io sono venuto affinché abbiano la vita e l'abbiano in abbondanza. |
| 11 | I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd layeth down his life for the sheep. | Io sono il buon pastore; il buon pastore depone la sua vita per le pecore. |
| 12 | He that is a hireling, and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, beholdeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth, and the wolf snatcheth them, and scattereth [them]: | Ma il mercenario, che non è pastore e a cui non appartengono le pecore, vede venire il lupo, abbandona le pecore e fugge; e il lupo rapisce e disperde le pecore. |
| 13 | [he fleeth] because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep. | Or il mercenario fugge, perché è mercenario e non si cura delle pecore. |
| 14 | I am the good shepherd; and I know mine own, and mine own know me, | Io sono il buon pastore, e conosco le mie pecore e le mie conoscono me, |
| 15 | even as the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. | come il Padre conosce me e io conosco il Padre, e depongo la mia vita per le pecore. |
| 16 | And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice: and they shall become one flock, one shepherd. | Io ho anche delle altre pecore che non sono di quest'ovile; anche quelle io devo raccogliere, ed esse ascolteranno la mia voce, e vi sarà un solo gregge e un solo pastore. |
| 17 | Therefore doth the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again. | Per questo mi ama il Padre, perché io depongo la mia vita per prenderla di nuovo. |
| 18 | No one taketh it away from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment received I from my Father. | Nessuno me la toglie, ma la depongo da me stesso; io ho il potere di deporla e il potere di prenderla di nuovo; questo è il comando che ho ricevuto dal Padre mio. |
| 19 | There arose a division again among the Jews because of these words. | Allora sorse di nuovo una divisione tra i Giudei per queste parole. |
| 20 | And many of them said, He hath a demon, and is mad; why hear ye him? | E molti di loro dicevano: Egli ha un demone ed è fuori di sé; perché lo ascoltate?. |
| 21 | Others said, These are not the sayings of one possessed with a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind? | Altri dicevano: Queste non sono parole di un indemoniato; può un demone aprire gli occhi ai ciechi?. |
| 22 | And it was the feast of the dedication at Jerusalem: | Si celebrava allora a Gerusalemme la festa della Dedicazione, ed era inverno. |
| 23 | it was winter; and Jesus was walking in the temple in Solomon`s porch. | E Gesù passeggiava nel tempio, sotto il portico di Salomone. |
| 24 | The Jews therefore came round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou hold us in suspense? If thou art the Christ, tell us plainly. | Lo circondarono dunque i Giudei e gli dissero: Fino a quando ci terrai con l'animo sospeso? Se tu sei il Cristo, diccelo apertamente. |
| 25 | Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father`s name, these bear witness of me. | Gesù rispose loro: Io ve l'ho detto, ma voi non credete; le opere che faccio nel nome del Padre mio, sono quelle che testimoniano di me. |
| 26 | But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep. | Ma voi non credete, perché non siete delle mie pecore, come vi ho detto. |
| 27 | My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: | Le mie pecore ascoltano la mia voce, io le conosco ed esse mi seguono; |
| 28 | and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand. | e io do loro la vita eterna e non periranno mai, e nessuno le rapirà dalla mia mano. |
| 29 | My Father, who hath given [them] unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch [them] out of the Father`s hand. | Il Padre mio, che me le ha date, è più grande di tutti; e nessuno le può rapire dalla mano del Padre mio. |
| 30 | I and the Father are one. | Io e il Padre siamo uno. |
| 31 | The Jews took up stones again to stone him. | Perciò i Giudei raccolsero di nuovo delle pietre a per lapidarlo. |
| 32 | Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from the Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? | Gesù rispose loro: Io vi ho fatto vedere molte buone opere da parte del Padre mio; per quali di esse mi lapidate?. |
| 33 | The Jews answered him, For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. | I Giudei gli risposero, dicendo: Noi non ti lapidiamo per nessuna opera buona, ma per bestemmia, e perché tu che sei uomo ti fai Dio. |
| 34 | Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, ye are gods? | Gesù rispose loro: Non è scritto nella vostra legge: "Io ho detto: Voi siete dèi"? |
| 35 | If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came (and the scripture cannot be broken), | Ora, se essa chiama dèi coloro a cui fu rivolta la parola di Dio (e la Scrittura non può essere annullata), |
| 36 | say ye of him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am [the] Son of God? | voi dite che colui, che il Padre ha santificato e ha mandato nel mondo, bestemmia, perché ha detto: "Io sono il Figlio di Dio"? |
| 37 | If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. | Se non faccio le opere del Padre mio, non credetemi, |
| 38 | But if I do them, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father. | ma se le faccio, anche se non credete a me, credete almeno alle opere, affinché conosciate e crediate che il Padre è in me e io in lui. |
| 39 | They sought again to take him: and he went forth out of their hand. | Perciò essi cercavano nuovamente di prenderlo, ma egli sfuggì dalle loro mani. |
| 40 | And he went away again beyond the Jordan into the place where John was at the first baptizing; and there be abode. | E se ne andò di nuovo al di là del Giordano, nel luogo dove prima Giovanni battezzava; e si fermò qui. |
| 41 | And many came unto him; and they said, John indeed did no sign: but all things whatsoever John spake of this man were true. | Or molti vennero da lui e dicevano: Giovanni certamente non fece alcun segno, ma tutto quello che Giovanni disse di costui era vero. |
| 42 | And many believed on him there. | E molti in quel luogo credettero in lui. |
