And Jehovah had respect unto Abel and to his offering: |

And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. |
| 6 | Et l'Éternel dit à Caïn: Pourquoi es-tu irrité, et pourquoi ton visage est-il abattu? | Et l'Eternel dit à Caïn: Pourquoi es-tu irrité? et pourquoi ton visage est-il abattu? | And Jehovah said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? |

Mais, si tu ne fais pas bien, le péché est couché à la porte, et son désir est tourné vers toi; mais toi, tu dois dominer sur lui. | Si tu fais bien, ne sera-t-il pas reçu? mais si tu ne fais pas bien, le péché est à la porte; or ses désirs se rapportent à toi, et tu as Seigneurie sur lui. | If thou doest well, shall it not be lifted up? and if thou doest not well, sin coucheth at the door: and unto thee shall be its desire, but do thou rule over it. |

And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. |

Et il lui répondit: Je ne sais, suis-je le gardien de mon frère, moi? | And Jehovah said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: am I my brother`s keeper? |
| 10 | Et l'Éternel dit: Qu'as-tu fait? La voix du sang de ton frère crie de la terre jusqu'à moi. | Et Dieu dit: Qu'as-tu fait? La voix du sang de ton frère crie de la terre à moi. | And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother`s blood crieth unto me from the ground. |

| 12 | Quand tu cultiveras la terre, elle ne te rendra plus son fruit; tu seras vagabond et fugitif sur la terre. | Quand tu laboureras la terre, elle ne te rendra plus son fruit, et tu seras vagabond et fugitif sur la terre. | when thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee its strength; a fugitive and a wanderer shalt thou be in the earth. |
| 13 | Et Caïn dit à l'Éternel: Ma peine est trop grande pour être supportée. | Et Caïn dit à l'Eternel: Ma peine est plus grande que je ne puis porter. | And Cain said unto Jehovah, My punishment is greater than I can bear. |
| 14 | Voici, tu m'as chassé aujourd'hui de cette terre, et je serai caché de devant ta face, et je serai vagabond et fugitif sur la terre; et il arrrivera que quiconque me trouvera, me tuera. | Voici, tu m'as chassé aujourd'hui de cette terre-ci, et je serai caché de devant ta face, et serai vagabond et fugitif sur la terre, et il arrivera que quiconque me trouvera, me tuera. | Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the ground; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth; and it will come to pass, that whosoever findeth me will slay me. |

Et l'Éternel mit à Caïn un signe, afin que quiconque le trouverait ne le tuât point. | Et l'Eternel lui dit: C'est pourquoi quiconque tuera Caïn sera puni sept fois davantage. Ainsi l'Eternel mit une marque sur Caïn, afin que quiconque le trouverait, ne le tuât point. | And Jehovah said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And Jehovah appointed a sign for Cain, lest any finding him should smite him. |
| 16 | Alors Caïn sortit de devant l'Éternel, et habita au pays de Nod (exil), à l'orient d'Éden. | Alors Caïn sortit de devant la face de l'Eternel, et habita au pays de Nod, vers l'Orient d'Héden. | And Cain went out from the presence of Jehovah, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. |

| 18 | Puis Irad naquit à Hénoc, et Irad engendra Mehujaël, et Mehujaël engendra Methushaël, et Methushaël engendra Lémec. | Puis Hirad naquit à Hénoc, et Hirad engendra Méhujaël, et Méhujaël engendra Méthusaël, et Méthusaël engendra Lémec. | And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methushael; and Methushael begat Lamech. |

| 21 | Et le nom de son frère était Jubal; il fut père de tous ceux qui jouent de la harpe et du chalumeau. | Et le nom de son frère fut Jubal, qui fut père de tous ceux qui touchent le violon et les orgues. | And his brother`s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and pipe. |
| 22 | Et Tsilla, elle aussi, enfanta Tubal-Caïn, qui forgeait toute sorte d'instruments tranchants d'airain et de fer; et la soeur de Tubal-Caïn fut Naama. | Et Tsilla aussi enfanta Tubal-Caïn, qui fut forgeur de toute sorte d'instruments d'airain et de fer; et la soeur de Tubal-Caïn fut Nahama. | And Zillah, she also bare Tubal-cain, the forger of every cutting instrument of brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah. |

| 25 | Et Adam connut encore sa femme; et elle enfanta un fils et l'appela Seth (remplaçant); car Dieu, dit-elle, m'a donné un autre fils au lieu d'Abel, que Caïn a tué. | Et Adam connut encore sa femme, qui enfanta un fils, et il appela son nom Seth, car Dieu m'a, dit-il, donné un autre fils au lieu d'Abel, que Caïn a tué. | And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth. For, [said she], God hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel; for Cain slew him. |
