And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.Et Jacob continua son chemin, et les Anges de Dieu vinrent au-devant de lui;And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.
And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim. And Jacob said when he saw them, This is God`s host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.Come Giacobbe li vide, disse: Questo è l'accampamento di DIO; e pose nome a quel luogo Mahanaim.
And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom. And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the field of Edom.
And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:Et leur commanda, en disant: Vous parlerez en cette manière à mon Seigneur Esaü: Ainsi a dit ton serviteur Jacob; j'ai demeuré comme étranger chez Laban, et m'y suis arrêté jusqu'à présent.And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye say unto my lord Esau: Thus saith thy servant Jacob, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed until now:E diede loro quest'ordine dicendo: Direte così ad Esaù, mio signore: "Così dice il tuo servo Giacobbe: Io ho soggiornato presso Labano e vi sono rimasto finora;
And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight. I have oxen, and asses, [and] flocks, and men-servants, and maid-servants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favor in thy sight.ho buoi, asini, greggi, servi e serve; e lo mando a dire al mio signore, per trovare grazia ai tuoi occhi".
And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him. And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and moreover he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.I messaggeri tornarono quindi da Giacobbe, dicendo: Siamo andati da tuo fratello Esaù; ed ora sta venendo egli stesso ad incontrarti e ha con lui quattrocento uomini.
Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;Alors Jacob craignit beaucoup, et fut dans une grande angoisse; et ayant partagé le peuple qui était avec lui, et les brebis, et les boeufs, et les chameaux en deux bandes, il dit:Then Jacob was greatly afraid and was distressed: and he divided the people that were with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two companies;Allora Giacobbe fu preso da una grande paura ed angoscia e divise in due schiere la gente che era con lui, le greggi, gli armenti e i cammelli, e disse:
And said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape.Si Esaü vient à l'une de ces bandes, et qu'il la frappe, la bande qui demeurera de reste échappera.and he said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the company which is left shall escape.
And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:Jacob dit aussi: Ô Dieu de mon père Abraham, Dieu de mon père Isaac, ô Eternel qui m'as dit: Retourne en ton pays, et vers ta parenté, et je te ferai du bien.And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, O Jehovah, who saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will do thee good:Poi Giacobbe disse: O DIO di mio padre Abrahamo, DIO di mio padre Isacco, o Eterno, che mi dicesti: "Torna al tuo paese e al tuo parentado e ti farò del bene",
I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.Je suis trop petit au prix de toutes tes gratuités, et de toute la vérité dont tu as usé envers ton serviteur; car j'ai passé ce Jourdain avec mon bâton, mais maintenant je m'en retourne avec ces deux bandes.I am not worthy of the least of all the lovingkindnesses, and of all the truth, which thou hast showed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two companies.io non sono degno di tutte le benignità e di tutta la fedeltà che hai usato col tuo servo, poiché io passai questo Giordano solamente col mio bastone e ora son divenuto due schiere.
Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children. Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he come and smite me, the mother with the children.
And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude. And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.E tu dicesti: "Certo, io ti farò del bene e farò diventare la tua discendenza come la sabbia del mare, che non si può contare tanto è numerosa".
And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present for Esau his brother;Et il passa la nuit en ce lieu-là, et prit de ce qui lui vint en main pour en faire un présent à Esaü son frère.And he lodged there that night, and took of that which he had with him a present for Esau his brother:Così Giacobbe passò in quel luogo la notte; e da ciò che gli veniva sottomano egli scelse un dono per suo fratello Esaù:
Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams,Savoir deux cents chèvres, vingt boucs, deux cents brebis, vingt moutons.two hundred she-goats and twenty he-goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,duecento capre e venti becchi, duecento pecore e venti montoni,
Thirty milch camels with their colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals.Trente femelles de chameaux qui allaitaient, et leurs petits; quarante jeunes vaches, dix jeunes taureaux, vingt ânesses, et dix ânons.thirty milch camels and their colts, forty cows and ten bulls, twenty she-asses and ten foals.trenta cammelle allattanti con i loro piccoli, quaranta mucche e dieci tori, venti asine e dieci puledri.
And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by themselves; and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove. And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by itself, and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove.
And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee? And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee?E ordinò al primo: Quando mio fratello Esaù ti incontrerà e ti chiederà: "Di chi sei tu e dove vai? A chi appartengono questi animali davanti a te?",
Then thou shalt say, They be thy servant Jacob's; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.Alors tu diras: Je suis à ton serviteur Jacob: c'est un présent qu'il envoie à mon Seigneur Esaü; et le voilà lui-même après nous.then thou shalt say [They are] thy servant Jacob`s; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, he also is behind us.tu risponderai: "Appartengono al tuo servo Giacobbe; è un dono inviato al mio signore Esaù; ed ecco, egli stesso viene dietro di noi".
And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him.Il fit aussi le même commandement au second, et au troisième, et à tous ceux qui allaient après les troupeaux, disant: Vous parlerez en ces termes-ci à Esaü, quand vous l'aurez trouvé;And he commanded also the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him;Egli diede lo stesso ordine al secondo, al terzo e a tutti quelli che seguivano le greggi, dicendo: In questo modo parlerete a Esaù quando lo incontrerete;
And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me.Et vous lui direz: Voici même ton serviteur Jacob est derrière nous. Car il disait: J'apaiserai sa colère par ce présent qui ira devant moi, et après cela, je verrai sa face; peut-être qu'il me regardera favorablement.and ye shall say, Moreover, behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept me.e direte: "Ecco, il tuo servo Giacobbe sta venendo egli stesso dietro di noi".
So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company. So the present passed over before him: and he himself lodged that night in the company.
And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok. And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two handmaids, and his eleven children, and passed over the ford of the Jabbok.
And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had. And he took them, and sent them over the stream, and sent over that which he had.
And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob`s thigh was strained, as he wrestled with him.
And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.Et cet homme lui dit: Laisse-moi, car l'aube du jour est levée. And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.E quegli disse: Lasciami andare, perché sta spuntando l'alba.
And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.L'altro gli disse: Qual è il tuo nome?. Egli rispose: Giacobbe.
And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for thou hast striven with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.Et Jacob demanda, disant: Je te prie, déclare-moi ton nom. Et il répondit: Pourquoi demandes-tu mon nom? Et il le bénit là.And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for, [said he], I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.E qui lo benedisse. Allora Giacobbe chiamò quel luogo Peniel, perché disse: Ho visto Dio faccia a faccia, e la mia vita è stata risparmiata.
And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh. And the sun rose upon him as he passed over Penuel, and he limped upon his thigh.
Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank.C'est pourquoi jusqu'à ce jour les enfants d'Israël ne mangent point du muscle se retirant, qui est à l'endroit de l'emboîture de la hanche; parce que cet homme-là toucha l'endroit de l'emboîture de la hanche de Jacob, à l'endroit du muscle se retirant.Therefore the children of Israel eat not the sinew of the hip which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob`s thigh in the sinew of the hip.
