And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines, unto Gerar. | Or ci fu una carestia nel paese, oltre la precedente carestia che c'era stata ai tempi di Abrahamo. | 2 | Et l'Éternel lui apparut, et dit: Ne descends pas en Égypte; demeure dans le pays que je t'ai dit; | And Jehovah appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt. Dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of. | Allora l'Eterno gli apparve e gli disse: Non scendere in Egitto; rimani nel paese che io ti dirò. |

For unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father. | Soggiorna in questo paese e io sarò con te e ti benedirò, perché io darò a te e alla tua discendenza tutti questi paesi, e manterrò il giuramento che feci ad Abrahamo tuo padre, |

| 7 | Et les hommes du lieu s'enquirent au sujet de sa femme, et il dit: C'est ma soeur, car il craignait de dire: ma femme; de peur, pensait-il, que les hommes du lieu ne me tuent à cause de Rebecca, car elle est belle de visage. | And the men of the place asked him of his wife. And he said, She is my sister. For he feared to say, My wife. Lest, [said he], the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah. | 8 | Et il arriva, comme son séjour dans ce lieu se prolongeait, qu'Abimélec, roi des Philistins, regarda par la fenêtre; et il vit, et voici, Isaac s'amusait avec Rebecca sa femme. | And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife. | Quando aveva già trascorso parecchio tempo in quel luogo, ad Abimelek, re dei Filistei, capitò di guardare dalla finestra e vide Isacco che accarezzava Rebecca sua moglie. |
| 9 | Et Abimélec appela Isaac, et dit: Voici, assurément c'est ta femme; et comment as-tu dit: C'est ma soeur? Et Isaac lui dit: Parce que je disais: De peur que je ne meure à cause d'elle. | And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife. And how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die because of her. | Allora Abimelek chiamò Isacco e gli disse: Certamente costei è tua moglie; come mai hai tu detto: E' mia sorella"?. Isacco rispose: Perché dicevo: "Non vorrei morire a motivo di lei". |
| 10 | Et Abimélec dit: Qu'est-ce que tu nous as fait? Car peu s'en est fallu que quelqu'un du peuple n'ait couché avec ta femme, et tu aurais fait venir la coulpe sur nous. | And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? One of the people might easily have lain with thy wife, and thou wouldest have brought guiltiness upon us. | Abimelek disse: Che cos'è questo che ci hai fatto? Qualcuno del popolo avrebbe potuto facilmente coricarsi con tua moglie, e tu ci avresti tirato addosso una gran colpa. |
| 11 | Et Abimélec commanda à tout le peuple, disant: Celui qui touchera cet homme ou sa femme sera certainement mis à mort. | And Abimelech charged all the people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death. | Così Abimelek diede quest'ordine a tutto il popolo: Chiunque tocca quest'uomo o sua moglie sarà senz'altro messo a morte. |
| 12 | Et Isaac sema dans cette terre; et il recueillit cette année-là le centuple; et l'Éternel le bénit. | And Isaac sowed in that land, and found in the same year a hundredfold. And Jehovah blessed him. | Isacco seminò in quel paese e in quell'anno raccolse il centuplo; e l'Eterno lo benedisse. |
| 13 | Et l'homme grandissait, et il allait grandissant de plus en plus, jusqu'à ce qu'il devint fort grand; | And the man waxed great, and grew more and more until he became very great. | Quest'uomo divenne grande e continuò a crescere fino a divenire straordinariamente grande. |
| 14 | et il eut des troupeaux de menu bétail, et des troupeaux de gros bétail, et beaucoup de serviteurs; et les Philistins lui portèrent envie; | And he had possessions of flocks, and possessions of herds, and a great household. And the Philistines envied him. | Egli venne a possedere greggi di pecore, mandrie di buoi e un gran numero di servi. Così i Filistei lo invidiarono, |
| 15 | et tous les puits que les serviteurs de son père avaient creusés aux jours d'Abraham, son père, les Philistins les bouchèrent et les remplirent de terre. | Now all the wells which his father`s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped, and filled with earth. | perciò i Filistei turarono, riempiendoli di terra, tutti i pozzi che i servi di suo padre avevano scavati, al tempo di Abrahamo suo padre. |
| 16 | Et Abimélec dit à Isaac: Va-t'en d'avec nous; car tu es beaucoup plus puissant que nous. | And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us. For thou art much mightier than we. | Allora Abimelek disse a Isacco: Vattene da noi, poiché tu sei molto più potente di noi. |
| 17 | Et Isaac partit de là, et campa dans la vallée de Guérar, et y habita. | And Isaac departed thence, and encamped in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there. | Così Isacco se ne andò di là e si accampò nella valle di Gherar, e là dimorò. |
| 18 | Et Isaac recreusa les puits d'eau qu'on avait creusés aux jours d'Abraham, son père, et que les Philistins avaient bouchés après la mort d'Abraham; et il leur donna des noms selon les noms que son père leur avait donnés. | And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father. For the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham. And he called their names after the names by which his father had called them. | E Isacco scavò di nuovo i pozzi di acqua che erano stati scavati al tempo di Abrahamo suo padre, e che i Filistei avevano turati dopo la morte di Abrahamo; e pose loro gli stessi nomi che aveva loro posto suo padre. |
| 19 | Et les serviteurs d'Isaac creusèrent dans la vallée, et ils y trouvèrent un puits d'eau vive. | And Isaac`s servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water. | Poi i servi di Isacco scavarono nella valle e vi trovarono un pozzo di acqua viva. |
| 20 | Et les bergers de Guérar contestèrent avec les bergers d'Isaac, disant: L'eau est à nous. Et il appela le nom du puits Ések, parce qu'ils s'étaient disputés avec lui. | And the herdsmen of Gerar strove with Isaac`s herdsmen, saying, The water is ours. And he called the name of the well Esek, because they contended with him. | Ma i pastori di Gherar altercarono coi pastori d'Isacco, dicendo: L'acqua è nostra. Ed egli chiamò il pozzo Esek, perché quelli avevano conteso con lui. |
| 21 | Et ils creusèrent un autre puits, et ils contestèrent aussi pour celui-là; et il appela son nom Sitna. | And they digged another well, and they strove for that also. And he called the name of it Sitnah. | I servi scavarono quindi un altro pozzo, ma quelli altercarono anche per questo. E Isacco lo chiamò Sitnah. |
| 22 | Et il se transporta de là, et creusa un autre puits, et ils ne contestèrent pas pour celui-là; et il appela son nom Rehoboth, parce que, dit-il, l'Éternel nous a maintenant donné de l'espace, et nous fructifierons dans le pays. | And he removed from thence, and digged another well. And for that they strove not. And he called the name of it Rehoboth. And he said, For now Jehovah hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land. | Allora egli se ne andò di là e scavò un altro pozzo per il quale quelli non altercarono. Ed egli lo chiamò Rehoboth, perché egli disse: Ora l'Eterno ci ha messi al largo, e noi prospereremo nel paese. |
| 23 | Et de là il monta à Beër-Shéba. | And he went up from thence to Beer-sheba. | Poi di là Isacco salì a Beer-Sceba. |
| 24 | Et l'Éternel lui apparut cette nuit-là, et dit: Je suis le Dieu d'Abraham ton père; ne crains pas, car je suis avec toi; et je te bénirai, et je multiplierai ta semence, à cause d'Abraham, mon serviteur. | And Jehovah appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father. Fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham`s sake. | E l'Eterno gli apparve quella stessa notte, e gli disse: Io sono il DIO di Abrahamo tuo padre; non temere, perché io sono con te; ti benedirò e moltiplicherò la tua discendenza per amore di Abrahamo mio servo. |
| 25 | Et il bâtit là un autel, et invoqua le nom de l'Éternel: et il y dressa sa tente; et les serviteurs d'Isaac y creusèrent un puits. | And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of Jehovah, and pitched his tent there. And there Isaac`s servants digged a well. | Allora egli costruì in quel luogo un altare e invocò il nome dell'Eterno, e vi piantò la sua tenda. La i servi di Isacco scavarono un pozzo. |
| 26 | Et Abimélec alla de Guérar vers lui, avec Akhuzzath, son ami, et Picol, chef de son armée. | Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath his friend, and Phicol the captain of his host. | Poi Abimelek da Gherar andò da lui con Ahuzzath, suo amico e con Pikol, capo del suo esercito. |
| 27 | Et Isaac leur dit: Pourquoi venez-vous vers moi, puisque vous me haïssez et que vous m'avez renvoyé d'auprès de vous? | And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore are ye come unto me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you? | E Isacco disse loro: Perché siete venuti da me, dal momento che mi odiate e mi avete allontanato da voi. |
| 28 | Et ils dirent: Nous avons vu clairement que l'Éternel est avec toi, et nous avons dit: Qu'il y ait donc un serment entre nous, entre nous et toi; et nous ferons une alliance avec toi: | And they said, We saw plainly that Jehovah was with thee. And we said, Let there now be an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee, | Allora essi risposero: Noi abbiamo chiaramente visto che l'Eterno è con te. Così abbiamo detto: "Si faccia ora un giuramento fra di noi, fra noi e te, e facciamo un'alleanza con te": |
| 29 | que tu ne nous feras pas de mal, comme nous ne t'avons pas touché, et comme nous ne t'avons fait que du bien, et t'avons renvoyé en paix. Tu es maintenant le béni de l'Éternel. | that thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace. Thou art now the blessed of Jehovah. | e cioè, che tu non ci farai alcun male, così come noi non ti abbiamo toccato e non ti abbiamo fatto altro che del bene, e ti abbiamo lasciato andare in pace. Tu sei ora il benedetto dell'Eterno. |
| 30 | Et il leur fit un festin, et ils mangèrent et burent. | And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink. | Così Isacco imbandì per loro un convito ed essi mangiarono e bevvero. |
| 31 | Et ils se levèrent de bon matin, et se jurèrent l'un à l'autre; et Isaac les renvoya, et ils s'en allèrent d'avec lui en paix. | And they rose up betimes in the morning, and sware one to another. And Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace. | La mattina dopo si alzarono presto e si scambiarono un giuramento. Poi Isacco li accomiatò e quelli se ne andarono da lui in pace. |
| 32 | Et il arriva, en ce jour-là, que les serviteurs d'Isaac vinrent, et l'avertirent au sujet du puits qu'ils avaient creusé, et lui dirent: Nous avons trouvé de l'eau. | And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac`s servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had digged, and said unto him, We have found water. | Or avvenne che, in quello stesso giorno, i servi di Isacco gli vennero a dar notizia del pozzo che avevano scavato dicendogli: Abbiamo trovato dell'acqua. |
| 33 | Et il l'appela Shéba; c'est pourquoi le nom de la ville a été Beër-Shéba, jusqu'à aujourd'hui. | And he called it Shibah. Therefore the name of the city is Beer-sheba unto this day. | Ed egli lo chiamò Scibah. Per questo la città porta il nome di Beer-Sceba, fino al giorno d'oggi. |
| 34 | Et Ésaü était âgé de quarante ans, et il prit pour femmes Judith, fille de Beéri, le Héthien, et Basmath, fille d'Élon, le Hétien; | And when Esau was forty years old he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite. | Quando Esaù ebbe quarant'anni, prese per moglie Judith, figlia di Beeri, lo Hitteo e Basemath, figlia di Elon, lo Hitteo. |
| 35 | et elles furent une amertume d'esprit pour Isaac et pour Rebecca. | And they were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah. | Esse furono causa di profonda amarezza a Isacco e Rebecca. |
