| 2 | Mais il arriva qu'étant partis d'Orient, ils trouvèrent une campagne au pays de Sinhar, où ils habitèrent. | And it came to pass, as they journeyed east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. |
| 3 | Et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: Or ça, faisons des briques, et les cuisons très bien au feu. Ils eurent donc des briques au lieu de pierres, et le bitume leur fut au lieu de mortier. | And they said one to another, Come, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar. |
| 4 | Puis ils dirent: Or ça, bâtissons-nous une ville, et une tour de laquelle le sommet soit jusqu'aux cieux; et acquérons-nous de la réputation, de peur que nous ne soyons dispersés sur toute la terre. | And they said, Come, let us build us a city, and a tower, whose top [may reach] unto heaven, and let us make us a name; lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. |
| 5 | Alors l'Eternel descendit pour voir la ville et la tour que les fils des hommes bâtissaient. | And Jehovah came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. |
| 6 | Et l'Eternel dit: Voici, ce n'est qu'un seul et même peuple, ils ont un même langage, et ils commencent à travailler; et maintenant rien ne les empêchera d'exécuter ce qu'ils ont projeté. | And Jehovah said, Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is what they begin to do: and now nothing will be withholden from them, which they purpose to do. |
| 7 | Or ça, descendons, et confondons là leur langage, afin qu'ils n'entendent point le langage l'un de l'autre. | Come, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another`s speech. |
| 8 | Ainsi l'Eternel les dispersa de là par toute la terre, et ils cessèrent de bâtir la ville. | So Jehovah scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off building the city. |
| 9 | C'est pourquoi son nom fut appelé Babel; car l'Eternel y confondit le langage de toute la terre, et de là il les dispersa sur toute la terre. | Therefore was the name of it called Babel; because Jehovah did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did Jehovah scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. |
| 10 | C'est ici la postérité de Sem: Sem âgé de cent ans, engendra Arpacsad, deux ans après le déluge. | These are the generations of Shem. Shem was a hundred years old, and begat Arpachshad two years after the flood. |

| 26 | Et Taré ayant vécu soixante-dix ans, engendra Abram, Nacor, et Haran. | And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran. |
| 27 | Et c'est ici la postérité de Taré: Taré engendra Abram, Nacor, et Haran; et Haran engendra Lot. | Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran. And Haran begat Lot. |
| 28 | Et Haran mourut en la présence de son père, au pays de sa naissance, à Ur des Chaldéens. | And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees. |
| 29 | Et Abram et Nacor prirent chacun une femme. Le nom de la femme d'Abram fut Saraï; et le nom de la femme de Nacor fut Milca, fille de Haran, père de Milca et de Jisca. | And Abram and Nahor took them wives: The name of Abram`s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor`s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah. |
| 30 | Et Saraï était stérile, et n'avait point d'enfants. | And Sarai was barren; She had no child. |
| 31 | Et Taré prit son fils Abram, et Lot fils de son fils, qui était fils de Haran, et Saraï sa belle-fille, femme d'Abram son fils, et ils sortirent ensemble d'Ur des Chaldéens pour aller au pays de Canaan, et ils vinrent jusqu'à Caran, et y demeurèrent. | And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his son`s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram`s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. |
| 32 | Et les jours de Taré furent deux cent cinq ans; puis il mourut à Caran. | And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran. |
