| 2 | "Fils de l'homme, tourne ta face vers la montagne de Séir et prophétise contre elle, et dis-lui : | Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it, |
| 3 | Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh : Voici que je viens à toi, montagne de Séir, je vais étendre ma main sur toi; et faire de toi une solitude et un désert. | and say unto it, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, O mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against thee, and I will make thee a desolation and an astonishment. |
| 4 | Je réduirai tes villes en ruines, tu seras une solitude; et tu sauras que je suis Yahweh. | I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate; and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah. |
| 5 | Parce que tu as une haine éternelle et que tu as livré au glaive les enfants d'Israël; au temps de leur calamité, au temps de l'iniquité finale, | Because thou hast had a perpetual enmity, and hast given over the children of Israel to the power of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time of the iniquity of the end; |
| 6 | à cause de cela, je suis vivant, --oracle du Seigneur Yahweh : Je te mettrai à sang, et le sang te poursuivra; parce que tu n'as pas haï le sang, le sang te poursuivra. | therefore, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: since thou hast not hated blood, therefore blood shall pursue thee. |
| 7 | Et je ferai de la montagne de Séir une solitude et un désert, et j'en retrancherai tout allant et venant. | Thus will I make mount Seir an astonishment and a desolation; and I will cut off from it him that passeth through and him that returneth. |
| 8 | Je remplirai ses monts de ses blessés à mort; sur tes collines, dans tes vallées et dans tous tes ravins tomberont les hommes égorgés par l'épée. | And I will fill its mountains with its slain: in thy hills and in thy valleys and in all thy watercourses shall they fall that are slain with the sword. |
| 9 | Je te réduirai en solitudes éternelles, et tes villes ne seront plus habitées; et vous saurez que je suis Yahweh. | I will make thee a perpetual desolation, and thy cities shall not be inhabited; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah. |
| 10 | Parce que tu as dit : "Les deux nations et les deux pays seront à moi, et nous en prendrons possession!"-- et Yahweh était là! -- | Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas Jehovah was there: |
| 11 | à cause de cela, je suis vivant, --oracle du Seigneur Yahweh : j'agirai selon ta colère, et selon ta jalousie, que tu as montrées dans ta haine contre eux, et je me ferai connaître au milieu d'eux quand je te jugerai. | therefore, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast showed out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I shall judge thee. |
| 12 | Et tu sauras que moi, Yahweh, j'ai entendu tous tes outrages, que tu proférais contre les montagnes d'Israël, en disant : "Elles sont dévastées, elles nous sont données comme une proie à dévorer" | And thou shalt know that I, Jehovah, have heard all thy revilings which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to devour. |
| 13 | Vous m'avez bravé par vos discours; et vous avez multiplié vos paroles contre moi; moi, j'ai entendu! | And ye have magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard it. |
| 14 | Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh : Quand toute la terre se réjouira, je ferai de toi une solitude. | Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate. |
| 15 | Comme tu t'es réjouie au sujet de l'héritage de la maison d'Israël parce qu'il était dévasté, je te ferai de même : tu seras dévastée, montagne de Séir, ainsi que l'Idumée tout entière. Et l'on saura que je suis Yahweh." | As thou didst rejoice over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Edom, even all of it; and they shall know that I am Jehovah. |
