| 3 | Voici, l'Assyrie était un cèdre du Liban ; Ses branches étaient belles, Son feuillage était touffu, sa tige élevée, Et sa cime s'élançait au milieu d'épais rameaux. | Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a forest-like shade, and of high stature; and its top was among the thick boughs. | Ecco, l'Assiria era un cedro del Libano, dai bei rami, dall'ombra di una foresta, dal tronco elevato e dalla cima che si ergeva tra folti rami. |
| 4 | Les eaux l'avaient fait croître, L'abîme l'avait fait pousser en hauteur ; Des fleuves coulaient autour du lieu où il était planté, Et envoyaient leurs canaux à tous les arbres des champs. | The waters nourished it, the deep made it to grow: the rivers thereof ran round about its plantation; and it sent out its channels unto all the trees of the field. | Le acque lo facevano crescere, l'acqua del sottosuolo l'aveva reso elevato, con i suoi fiumi che scorrevano tutt'intorno al luogo dov'era piantato, mentre mandava i suoi ruscelli a tutti gli alberi della campagna. |
| 5 | C'est pourquoi sa tige s'élevait au-dessus de tous les arbres des champs, Ses branches avaient multiplié, ses rameaux s'étendaient, Par l'abondance des eaux qui l'avaient fait pousser. | Therefore its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field; and its boughs were multiplied, and its branches became long by reason of many waters, when it shot [them] forth. | Perciò la sua altezza si era elevata sopra tutti gli alberi della campagna, i suoi rami si erano moltiplicati, le sue fronde si erano allungate per l'abbondanza delle acque durante la sua crescita. |
| 6 | Tous les oiseaux du ciel nichaient dans ses branches, Toutes les bêtes des champs faisaient leurs petits sous ses rameaux, Et de nombreuses nations habitaient toutes à son ombre. | All the birds of the heavens made their nests in its boughs; and under its branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young; and under its shadow dwelt all great nations. | Tutti gli uccelli del cielo facevano il nido tra i suoi rami, tutte le bestie della campagna figliavano sotto le sue fronde e tutte le grandi nazioni dimoravano alla sua ombra. |
| 7 | Il était beau par sa grandeur, par l'étendue de ses branches, Car ses racines plongeaient dans des eaux abondantes. | Thus was it fair in its greatness, in the length of its branches; for its root was by many waters. | Era bello nella sua grandezza per la lunghezza dei suoi rami, perché la sua radice era presso acque abbondanti. |
| 8 | Les cèdres du jardin de Dieu ne le surpassaient point, Les cyprès n'égalaient point ses branches, Et les platanes n'étaient point comme ses rameaux ; Aucun arbre du jardin de Dieu ne lui était comparable en beauté. | The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it; the fir-trees were not like its boughs, and the plane-trees were not as its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like unto it in its beauty. | I cedri non lo superavano nel giardino a di DIO, i cipressi non riuscivano ad eguagliare i suoi rami e i castagni non erano neppure come le sue fronde nessun albero nel giardino di DIO gli era pari in bellezza. |
| 9 | Je l'avais embelli par la multitude de ses branches, Et tous les arbres d'Éden, dans le jardin de Dieu, lui portaient envie. | I made it fair by the multitude of its branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it. | L'avevo reso bello nell'abbondanza dei suoi rami, per cui lo invidiavano tutti gli alberi dell'Eden, che erano nel giardino di DIO. |
| 10 | C'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel : Parce qu'il avait une tige élevée, Parce qu'il lançait sa cime au milieu d'épais rameaux, Et que son coeur était fier de sa hauteur, | Therefore thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because thou art exalted in stature, and he hath set his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height; | Perciò così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Poiché si è elevato in altezza e ha posto la sua cima tra folti rami e il suo cuore si è insuperbito nella sua altezza, |
| 11 | Je l'ai livré entre les mains du héros des nations, Qui le traitera selon sa méchanceté ; je l'ai chassé. | I will even deliver him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations; he shall surely deal with him; I have driven him out for his wickedness. | lo darò in mano del più potente fra le nazioni, perché faccia di lui ciò che gli piace; io l'ho scacciato per la sua malvagità. |
| 12 | Des étrangers, les plus violents des peuples, l'ont abattu et rejeté ; Ses branches sont tombées dans les montagnes et dans toutes les vallées. Ses rameaux se sont brisés dans tous les ravins du pays ; Et tous les peuples de la terre se sont retirés de son ombre, Et l'ont abandonné. | And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the watercourses of the land; and all the peoples of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him. | Stranieri, i più terribili fra le nazioni, l'hanno tagliato e l'hanno abbandonato; i suoi rami sono caduti sui monti e in tutte le valli e le sue fronde giacciono spezzate presso tutti i corsi d'acqua del paese; tutti i popoli della terra sono discesi allontanandosi dalla sua ombra e l'hanno abbandonato. |
| 13 | Sur ses débris sont venus se poser tous les oiseaux du ciel, Et toutes les bêtes des champs ont fait leur gîte parmi ses rameaux, | Upon his ruin all the birds of the heavens shall dwell, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches; | Sulle sue rovine si posano tutti gli uccelli del cielo e sulle sue fronde sono tutte le bestie della campagna, |
| 14 | Afin que tous les arbres près des eaux n'élèvent plus leur tige, Et qu'ils ne lancent plus leur cime au milieu d'épais rameaux, Afin que tous les chênes arrosés d'eau ne gardent plus leur hauteur ; Car tous sont livrés à la mort, aux profondeurs de la terre, Parmi les enfants des hommes, Avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse. | to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, neither set their top among the thick boughs, nor that their mighty ones stand up on their height, [even] all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit. | perché nessun albero piantato presso le acque si insuperbisca per la sua altezza, non sporga più la sua cima tra folti rami e perché nessun albero che beve acqua si innalzi per la sua forza nella sua altezza, perché sono tutti dati alla morte, alle profondità della terra, in mezzo ai figli degli uomini, tra quelli che scendono nella fossa. |
| 15 | Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel : Le jour où il est descendu dans le séjour des morts, J'ai répandu le deuil, j'ai couvert l'abîme à cause de lui, Et j'en ai retenu les fleuves ; Les grandes eaux ont été arrêtées ; J'ai rendu le Liban triste à cause de lui, Et tous les arbres des champs ont été desséchés. | Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In the day when he went down to Sheol I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the rivers thereof; and the great waters were stayed; and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him. | Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Nel giorno in cui discese nello Sceol, io feci fare cordoglio; per lui copersi l'abisso, arrestai i suoi fiumi e le grandi acque furono fermate; per lui feci fare cordoglio al Libano e per lui tutti gli alberi della campagna appassirono. |
| 16 | Par le bruit de sa chute j'ai fait trembler les nations, Quand je l'ai précipité dans le séjour des morts, Avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse ; Tous les arbres d'Éden ont été consolés dans les profondeurs de la terre, Les plus beaux et les meilleurs du Liban, Tous arrosés par les eaux. | I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to Sheol with them that descend into the pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the nether parts of the earth. | Al rumore della sua caduta feci tremare le nazioni, quando lo feci scendere nello Sceol, assieme a quelli che scendono nella fossa; e nelle profondità della terra si consolarono tutti gli alberi dell'Eden, i più scelti e i più belli del Libano, tutti quelli che si abbeveravano alle acque. |
| 17 | Eux aussi sont descendus avec lui dans le séjour des morts, Vers ceux qui ont péri par l'épée ; Ils étaient son bras et ils habitaient à son ombre parmi les nations. | They also went down into Sheol with him unto them that are slain by the sword; yea, they that were his arm, [that] dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the nations. | Anch'essi discesero con lui nello Sceol tra quelli uccisi dalla spada, sì, quelli che erano il suo braccio e stavano alla sua ombra in mezzo alle nazioni. |
| 18 | A qui ressembles-tu ainsi en gloire et en grandeur Parmi les arbres d'Éden ? Tu seras précipité avec les arbres d'Éden Dans les profondeurs de la terre, Tu seras couché au milieu des incirconcis, Avec ceux qui ont péri par l'épée. Voilà Pharaon et toute sa multitude ! Dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel. | To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with them that are slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord Jehovah. | A chi dunque somigli per gloria e grandezza fra gli alberi dell'Eden? Tuttavia sarai precipitato con gli alberi dell'Eden nelle profondità della terra; giacerai in mezzo agl'incirconcisi, insieme a quelli uccisi dalla spada. Questo è ciò che sarà del Faraone e di tutta la sua moltitudine, dice il Signore, l'Eterno. |
