| 1 | In the tenth year, in the tenth [month], in the twelfth [day] of the month, the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, | Nel decimo anno, il decimo mese, il dodicesimo giorno del mese, la parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta, dicendo: |
| 2 | Son of man, set thy face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him, and against all Egypt; | Figlio d'uomo, volgi la tua faccia contro il Faraone re d'Egitto e profetizza contro di lui e contro tutto l'Egitto, |
| 3 | speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster that lieth in the midst of his rivers, that hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself. | Parla e di Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Ecco, io sono contro di te, o Faraone, re d'Egitto, grande dragone, che giaci in mezzo ai tuoi fiumi, che hai detto: Il mio fiume è mio e l'ho fatto io stesso |
| 4 | And I will put hooks in thy jaws, and I will cause the fish of thy rivers to stick unto thy scales; and I will bring thee up out of the midst of thy rivers, with all the fish of thy rivers which stick unto thy scales. | Io metterò uncini nelle tue mascelle e farò sì che i pesci dei tuoi fiumi si attacchino alle tue squame; ti farò quindi uscire di mezzo ai tuoi fiumi e tutti i pesci dei tuoi fiumi si attaccheranno alle tue squame. |
| 5 | And I will cast thee forth into the wilderness, thee and all the fish of thy rivers: thou shalt fall upon the open field; thou shalt not be brought together, nor gathered; I have given thee for food to the beasts of the earth and to the birds of the heavens. | Ti getterò nel deserto, te e tutti i pesci dei tuoi fiumi, e cadrai in aperta campagna, non sarai né radunato né raccolto ti darò in pasto alle bestie della terra e agli uccelli del cielo. |
| 6 | And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am Jehovah, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel. | Allora tutti gli abitanti dell'Egitto riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno, perché sono stati per la casa d'Israele un sostegno di canna. |
| 7 | When they took hold of thee by thy hand, thou didst break, and didst rend all their shoulders; and when they leaned upon thee, thou brakest, and madest all their loins to be at a stand. | Quando ti hanno afferrato per la mano, ti sei rotto e hai lacerato loro tutta la spalla; quando si sono appoggiati su di te, ti sei spezzato e hai fatto loro vacillare tutti i lombi. |
| 8 | Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and will cut off from thee man and beast. | Perciò così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Ecco, io farò venire sopra di te la spada e distruggerò di mezzo a te uomini e bestie; |
| 9 | And the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste; and they shall know that I am Jehovah. Because he hath said, The river is mine, and I have made it; | così il paese d'Egitto diventerà una desolazione e un deserto, e riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno, perché egli ha detto: Il fiume è mio e l'ho fatto io stesso |
| 10 | therefore, behold, I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from the tower of Seveneh even unto the border of Ethiopia. | Perciò ecco, io sono contro di te e contro il tuo fiume; ridurrò il paese d'Egitto in un completo deserto e desolazione da Migdol a Syene, fino ai confini con l'Etiopia, |
| 11 | No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years. | Non vi passerà alcun piede d'uomo né vi passerà alcun piede di bestia, e non sarà più abitato per quarant'anni. |
| 12 | And I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of the countries that are desolate; and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be a desolation forty years; and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries. | Renderò il paese d'Egitto una desolazione in mezzo a paesi desolati, e le sue città saranno una desolazione per quarant'anni, in mezzo a città devastate; disperderò gli Egiziani fra le nazioni a e li disseminerò per vari paesi. |
| 13 | For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: At the end of forty years will I gather the Egyptians from the peoples whither they were scattered; | Tuttavia così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Al termine dei quarant'anni io radunerò gli Egiziani dai popoli in mezzo ai quali erano stati dispersi. |
| 14 | and I will bring back the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their birth; and they shall be there a base kingdom. | Ricondurrò a casa dalla cattività gli Egiziani e li farò ritornare nel paese di Pathros, nel loro paese nativo, e là saranno un umile regno. |
| 15 | It shall be the basest of the kingdoms; neither shall it any more lift itself up above the nations: and I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations. | Sarà il più umile dei regni e non si innalzerà più sopra le nazioni, li ridurrò a pochi, perché non dominino più sulle nazioni. |
| 16 | And it shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, bringing iniquity to remembrance, when they turn to look after them: and they shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah. | Esso non sarà più fonte di fiducia per la casa d'Israele, ma ricorderà loro la colpa di quando si rivolgevano a loro per aiuto. Allora riconosceranno che io sono il Signore, l'Eterno. |
| 17 | And it came to pass in the seven and twentieth year, in the first [month], in the first [day] of the month, the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, | Nel ventisettesimo anno, il primo mese, il primo giorno del mese, avvenne che la parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta, dicendo: |
| 18 | Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyre: every head was made bald, and every shoulder was worn; yet had he no wages, nor his army, from Tyre, for the service that he had served against it. | Figlio d'uomo, Nebukadnetsar, re di Babilonia, ha fatto fare al suo esercito un duro servizio contro Tiro ogni testa è divenuta calva e ogni spalla scorticata; ma né lui né il suo esercito hanno ricavato da Tiro alcun compenso per la fatica sostenuta contro di essa. |
| 19 | Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will give the land of Egypt unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall carry off her multitude, and take her spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army. | Perciò così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Ecco. io do a Nebukadnetsar, re di Babilonia, il paese d'Egitto; egli asporterà le sue ricchezze, ne porterà via le spoglie e lo saccheggerà; e questo sarà il compenso per il suo esercito. |
| 20 | I have given him the land of Egypt as his recompense for which he served, because they wrought for me, saith the Lord Jehovah. | Per la fatica da lui compiuta contro di essa io gli do il paese d'Egitto, perché hanno lavorato per me, dice il Signore, l'Eterno. |
| 21 | In that day will I cause a horn to bud forth unto the house of Israel, and I will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am Jehovah. | In quel giorno io farò risorgere la potenza della casa d'Israele e aprirò la tua bocca in mezzo a loro. Allora essi riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno. |
